  1. Not appropriate.

He has no jurisdiction there and yet appears to expect to interrogate her (which is not appropriate approach to an alleged victim in any case). They mentioned that UK police were not allowed to interview anyone or do other than observe when they came to Thailand for the Kho Tao murders and that Thai police should expect no more than that going to the UK.

Also mentioned his biased approach from day 1 and adversarial attitude towards the alleged victim.

And a number of other points. It is worth reading, lengthy and thoughtful editorial.

He was not going to arrest her... as far as i can tell he woulf have been following up on her claim and would take a statement from her, exactly what would have happened if she had made the report in thailand...nothing to do with jurisdiction.

  2. Is this for real?  The girl's mom is on here?????!!!!  Of course you fight for your kids......you fight until the very, very, very, very, very end.  You fight with the most passion you can ever muster.  You fight with your soul.  You fight more for your kids than yourself.

One day we are worried about all kinds of dumb things........and then something bad happens to your kid.

yeah, 100% of everything else is forgotten.

That shrink guy on the internet, jordan peterson, says it pretty well (paraphrasing), "we all have a very evil mind that can become extremely dangerous."  Yeah, hurt our kids......

I won't say the normal stuff........except, try to sleep well, relax, and i wish you and your daughter well far, far into the future.

If you mean Anca, then no

CCTV not working or there maybe would have been more evidence

There is the t shirt, her friends cooberating account, her injuries (cuts etc) which  should have witnesses and maybe photographs

there is her account, I think it’s fair to not presume she’s lying and listen to her account fairly

there is previous allegations against the same person which the victim isn’t going to have been aware of

the % of false rape allegations is low and I’ve not heard a valid reason yet for one in this case

She tried to report as soon as she felt safe to do so

Some rape victims don’t come forward for years

who are the previous allegations about? ..you know of a suspect that hasnt been named?

  5. The comments against this 19 year old girl are disturbing and this is the reason why many rape victims don’t come forward.

None of of us know what happened but  have formed our opinions based on our own experiences of Thailand & Koh Tao

I personally see the truth in her allegation, when I first read the news report and the sequence of events I actually thought that the way she had reacted was totally understandable and sensible.
    1) Get off the island - at least you’re alive and she’d have been aware corrupt police
    2) report at next available police station
    3) police refuse to take rape allegation, take evidence home and report there

Pointless going to Embassy as they are diplomats with no power over Thai police

It isn’t only her word , there is her friends word as well, he was drugged too

She managed a chain of events which were Understandable and sensible...indeed.. but all while still 'drousy' as her mother claimed..seems she was alert enough at times yet still drousy at others....hummm

As a party-goer, yes. As in someone who went there and actively partied. They weren't just there in appearance only. Hell, show me any evidence she was anywhere near the party at all.

Her friend, Martin, was with her when she was allegedly refused the right to report the rape (that's right - we have TWO people who have stated this). The officer in question said they could report the phone and bank cards, etc. Maybe she wasn't too concerned about her phone but thought it best to have the cards reported as missing or stolen. You know, as missing credit and debit cards can be a huge problem. Maybe her friends encouraged her to do so as they would have been thinking clearly.

Yes, she clearly cried wolf to protect her reputation. She's done a stand-up ***** job of that.

They were Hiding behind anonymity at 1st, then that was blown after the cops gave out her name...i imagine there has been a bit of scurrying around since, easiest way to try to stop being found out would be to refuse the interview..in turn exposing the lie even more.
But alsobthey are in no position to dictate whobthey speak to...there are laws and procedures in every country to follow with this type of thing.
Odd that after not reporting to her embassy in bkk she flies home and reports it straight to the ST of all places...an online publication mainly used by expats and people living in thailand...surely the sun etc would be more well known to a 19yr old..they are in all the shops with numbers to call

  7. Yes, we have two people claiming they tried to report a rape and the police officer said he couldn’t talk about it cos it happened on another island. Great police work there! No need to offer support to someone who claims to have been raped or to call anyone up and ask what to do. Just send them on their way. Add to that you have someone who isn’t qualified to investigate rape combing a beach 2 months later looking for what? An engraving of ‘I raped someone ‘ere’ on a rock?

It’s no wonder she doesn’t wanna speak to the police here. She tried already and look what happened. Oh, and add to that being threatened to be blacklisted and seeing people arrested for sharing reports of her alleged rape. It doesn't instill confidence into a person who if really was raped, would be pretty terrified already.
But not too terrified to goto full moon party,

  8. You do understand how police investigations work? They work on behalf of the public. They serve the public. That means they have to actively look for evidence if a crime is reported. They don’t tell people claiming to have been raped that it’s not their jurisdiction so go back to where they were raped.
So whats he offering to do now? Go and interview her and hear what she has to say....not good enough?
The mother says she wont let her daughter speak to bj...doesnt work like that mummy!!, your daughter is an adult...she makes a claim says it was refused, now you refuse the interview....humm..i smell bs from their camp.
Personally i think theyve bitten off more than they can chew and think that her being named was unexpected..no hiding behind anonymity anymore..quick change of story or frefuse interviews...it may come crumbling down around them....
Hope while he's there he can pop to buchannans house with some handcuffs!!

  9. Under the Westminster system she can have her attorney present, and she can do all her answers through her attorney, a good attorney can tie this Thai Joke up with legal technicality every time he opens his mouth, In the end its not what the Joke thinks it will be what the British Press says, and this will be the embarrassment that the Thais will have to face

    Shes not under arrest.

  10. Oh you were there!
That makes you all the more credible, of course!
I now suddenly believe, Koh Tao is a tropical paradise, where grilled chicken and fruit fly directly into your mouth and nothing bad ever happens!
I also hear, that the sun shines directly out of everybody's @$$!

So...you are "being on the island longer than a tourist or tv member"...which totally makes you an insider in police investigation, murder mystery and all things rapie, I guess!
Of course, it was all chinese whispers, that the police completely destroyed the crime scene, that evidence was "used up" or not even investigated and so on and so forth!
    Got it!
This discussion is becoming a waste of time!

It means my opinions are formed from personal experience and not from getting overly invloved in a online threads in a forum like this.

  11. This will in all probability be erased by the mods as being irrelevant to the OP but I will continue in the hope it's not.
You're saying the rapist(s)/murderer(s) had their wits enough about them to take a speedboat in the early morning hours to get away yet they were too dumb/drunk/arrogant to cover up the crime. One would have to be really dumb to think Dad and Uncle wouldn't be mad at finding 2 tourists battered to death right on his establishment's doorstep!
Perhaps the murderers can be found in the football team from the mainland that were visiting Koh Tao that night. Perhaps.

Or left on any of the 6 boats that left the island that day.

  12. I was on the island when it happened, i watched the whole thing unfold and turn into a circus through the medias desperation to get the 'breaking news', i watched and listened as chinese whispers or gossip got printed and have been regurgatated here so many times as facts.
Actually being on the island longer than a tourist or tv member is why i call bs on the st articles, as does anyone that actually lives there.

The same goes for this aledged rape, if the st hadnt come out with the story i and i think many i know may have given it some credibility, however because it was them i dont, and what ive read so far seems all too convenient, i will be happy to be proved wrong, but if im proved right i wont gloat about it like i have no doubts many in here will.

  13. Yeeeees...it's all a mysterious chain of totally unrelated, yet eerie similar events.
Date rape drugs, other drugs, rapes, murder, attempted rapes...and OF COURSE all the dirty filthy farang are lying and are just trying to smear the snowywhite reputation of Koh Tao, it's upstanding citizens and the great work of the RTP, who are always on the point and absolutely accurate in their work.

Ok...enough of the sarcasm: you know the case of the B2, don't you?!
    The Hannah Witheridge - murder?!
    - CCTV- cameras didn't wort (at least not in the places or at times, when and where it mattered)
    - the crime scene was tempered with
    - evidence disappeared, was not taken into account or was "used" up
    - witnesses and suspects were either beat into confession or not even considered suspects, after the main investigator was transferred to another place
    - evidence was stored on the property of suspects etc pp

And that was only ONE case, that was handled abysmal by all concerned and mostly by the RTP!
So...this is not the first accusation of rape on Koh Tao (probably in connection with date rape drugs) and it was also not the first time the RTP handled the case questionable.

If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck and it mishandles cases like a duck...
