Eliminate conscription in favor of a volunteer military. Then such fake certificates become irrelevant. The government says basically, 'Give us four more years, then conscription all gone due to the military restructure program.' As former Gen. Prayut said in early 2014, there will be no military coup.

Does the Thai Education Ministry seem to admire North Korea's role of education that upholds socialistic conformity? After all, North Korea's literacy rate is 98-100 percent. Top 10 Facts About Education in North Korea, https://borgenproject.org/top-10-facts-about-education-in-north-korea/ "Overall, the country doesn’t seem to be raising unique individuals who are given true freedom of expression. Instead, education, like many other aspects of life in North Korea, is political." Looks like the stars are in alignment.

Consistent with BOT MPC's meeting on 29 November 2023 subsequent to its meeting in June 2023: https://www.bot.or.th/en/news-and-media/news/news-20231129.html The Committee voted unanimously to maintain the policy rate at 2.50 percent. "the Committee deems the current policy interest rate conducive to keeping inflation sustainably within the target range, fostering long-term macro-financial stability by preempting the build-up of financial imbalances, and ensuring sufficient policy space in light of uncertain outlook. To date I believe that BOT/MPC has consistently shown itself to be largely above national politics and focused on principles of economics. Unlike the governments that followed the Yingluck regime that was "terminated" in mid-2014. Thai delegation, BRN agree to endorse peace plan soon
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
With 95% of the three southern provinces population being the homeland (aka Kingdom of Patani) for the indigenous Malay Muslims, formal recognition by Thailand of some form of autonomous governance expressed by their language, religion, traditions and culture unhindered by a continuous State of Emergency and administration by the Thai army's Internal Security Operation Command (ISOC) is hopefully a consideration. Such resolution is not without precedent in the Asian-Pacific region. In 2012 The Philippine government reached a framework peace agreement reached after talks in Malaysia with the country's largest Muslim rebel group the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to end a 40-year conflict that has cost more than 120,000 lives. The area affected would become a new autonomous region in The Philippines to be named Bangsamoro, after the Moros living there. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-19860907 -
Most don’t trust Supreme Court on election cases: Poll
Srikcir replied to Social Media's topic in World News
"The (US) Supreme Court has been the only court in the country without a binding ethics code." "If the Court is to hold itself to the highest ethical standards, as Chief Justice John Roberts has repeatedly said is his aim, the justices must do more. Real financial transparency. Recusal whenever a conflict of interest creates the appearance of bias. Most importantly, an external body to tell us when a justice has fallen afoul of the rules. That’s what checks and balances are all about." "New Supreme Court Ethics Code Is Designed to Fail" Nov 14, 2023 https://www.brennancenter.org -
Draft bill on protection of ethnic peoples approved by Cabinet
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Interesting as "indigenous ethnic peoples" in Thailand describes perfectly the Malay Muslims in the former Kingdom of Patani. "Muslims of the Malay race are the largest ethnic community of Muslims in the world" - Book review of "Malay Muslims: The History and Challenge of Resurgent Islam in Southeast Asia," by Robert Day McAmis. The treatment of these peoples since Thailand's unilateral annexation of their kingdom might best be described as colonization. Since 2014 with the Thai military overthrow of Thailand's elected government, the former Muslim Kingdom has been under continuous military State of Emergency that limits Malay's rights under the Thailand constitution. With recent (again) restart of peace talks between Muslim insurgency BRN, Malaysia and Thailand it will be interesting to see if this draft bill is stalled, amended to exclude Malay Muslims or otherwise altered to minimize its benefit to Malay Muslims. -
Some background events that might help to understand charge: "Thaksin rejects 2016 lese majeste charge, seeks fair treatment" , February 06, 2024 https://nationthailand.com "The charges originate from an interview that Thaksin gave to South Korean daily Chosun Ilbo, in which he alleged that the Privy Council had backed the May 22, 2014, coup which ousted his sister Yingluck Shinawatra’s government." "... a complaint had been lodged against Thaksin on February 16, 2016, accusing him of defaming the monarchy in comments made in Seoul on May 21, 2015." "on September 19, 2016, then-attorney-general Pongniwat Yuthapanboripan decided to indict Thaksin" (couldn't paste as plain text from article)

Pita Confirms Appealing Suspended Sentence Over 2019 Rally
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Some background on the Public Assembly Act presented by Thai Lawyers for Human Rights, "Restrictions and Harassments remain: Public Assemblies in January and before the elections," 06/02/2562 https://tlhr2014.com/en/archives/10794 Public Assembly Act 2015 invoked [enacted by the NCPO-appointed National Legislative Assembly] to deny the right to freedom of assembly, to detain or to prosecute Authorities acknowledging the public assembly and imposing conditions to restrict freedom of assembly Misdemeanor laws have been used to prosecute or restrict freedom of assembly Individuals being summoned to speak with military officers The military organizing activities to cause distractions and hindrances at the protest venue Being approached by government officers at home or work and being told not to participate in a demonstration Surveillance and documentation of all public assemblies held by the organizers Several universities involved with the restriction of freedom of assembly Given the government's alleged support for democracy, it's hard to imagine this Act continues unabated in the least and continues to exist in the most. Already the country's Thai-style democracy seems throttled enough with allowance of the army's political branch ISOC to reach into the Thai grassroots political system. -

What's really happening? "Kamonnart Ongwandee Exits Committee Amid Elephant-Print Pants Guinness Record Controversy" by Thainews editorial team on Feb. 3, 2024 https://thai.news Regarding the sub-committee's departure, PM Thavisin "urged for calm, hinting at the melodrama being an overblown affair." What?!? Regarding TAT's Feb 21 to 27 extravaganza presenting in part its "pièce de résistance" elephant- print pants challenge. Kamonnart responded in Facebook to question the rationale behind the event and lamenting the missed opportunity to debate its merit. “We did not have the chance to oppose the idea. They did not consult us… What will you achieve after doing this?” "Yet, whispers of a dispute over work plans with a shadowy state agency floated in the air, with fingers pointing at an upcoming, rather unconventional, Guinness World Record event as the spark." Thailand seeks to become the hub of elephant-print pants?

Petitions seeking political bans on 44 Move Forward MPs filed

Thailand and Russia Strengthen Industrial Cooperation
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Will Thailand then start making drones for Russia with the idea that Thailand can use required chips imported from countries that would otherwise be banned from Russian use? I'm concerned that Putin will use Thailand to support his war against Ukraine through Thai made munition and weapon supplies other wised banned by many nations, ie., by Russian barter of oil and NLG. Will Russia be able to recruit Thais as mercenaries? -
Rules can be waived, relaxed, amended or changed. They should not fall under the Thailand Penal Code that would involve the Executive Branch, ie., Ministry of Justice for enforcement. But I expect a majority vote of at least the House would be required for any alteration. If required by the full NLA, then include voting by the Senate. But at best such a vote would be on the record for every MP.

I used Immigration and BOI offices on the 18th floor in Chamchuri Square building, Bangkok that is virtually above the underground Sam Yan MRT station. BOI will assist approved LTR applicants personally through the Immigration visa issuance process and LTR has a dedicated window within Immigration for stuff needed by LTR holders like Certification of Residence and annual notification of residence for extension.

Court rules Move Forward attempted to topple constitutional monarchy
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I find as a matter of general knowledge: "A constitutional monarchy is a system of government in which the nation recognizes a monarch but also limits his/her power with a national constitution. In most constitutional monarchies, most power is held by a legislature, like the British Parliament or Japanese Diet. Executive power is also divided." https://study.com/academy/lesson/constitutional-monarchy-definition-examples.html Aside from Thailand there are about (27) constitutional monarchies of which (15) share the same person as their monarch ("Commonwealth Realms"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_monarchy -
