Once its built then people will come even if its in Najomtien
sure but Jomtien isn't considered part of Pattaya beach. Besides you don't wanna mess up with a quiet area such as jomtien and turn it into another "Pattaya"

Besides that from what i learned its costs billions to fill it up and surely never a structure can be built on it.
casino revenues will justify and surpass the numbers spent in a few years.
Dubai has done it. I believe Waterfront sits on what used to be a sandy beach

Its traffic-wise not a good location for a huge casino. Jomtien is much more suitable for Casinos.
Just demolished the Waterfront so automatically the green park becomes bigger.
Cancel the ridiculous and failed mafia boat marina project and move it elsewhere and just fill the seafront by importing sand and rocks and create an area for casinos, restaurants and park-like landscaping will add more green.. Just like they did in Manila, The City of Dreams, the luxury resort and casino complex.
But this may be too far fetched for natives who love to oppose to almost anything.

Casino/shoppincenter/hotel hybird would be nice
maybe that's what they have in mind since no one dares to knock it down.
A casino is an excellent idea. "I bet" gambling will also revive the dying sex tourism in this sin city

I thought you lived in Colombia....perhaps that is under one of your other usernames....
I remember you as stating that you weren't going to post again on the subject. But here you are again, bumping the thread even though you have absolutely nothing to add.
If you live in the city and have a keen interest, why no go to City Hall and ask?
I'll also go to the City hall tomorrow to ask and thanks for the advice.
Just got back from Medellin and I recommend it to you too pal
Thanks for following me and paying attention to my interests and travels compadre!

Agree. And, I think it interests most Pattaya residents who care about their city. Totally ridiculous it has sat there unfinished since August 2014 on the most prominent spot in Pattaya and nobody in power so far has had the cojones to either order it finished or torn down.
it's a cash cow and even in a vegetative state or "playing dead", it's generating income to some. Reviving or bringing back from the edge of death might even generate more.
Stay tuned...

You really have a keen interest in this one....
and I assume your interest, if any, isn't "keen" but your reply to my post was pretty fast for someone who doesn't have any interest.
now back to your remark, my answer is: why not. i live in this city and it's in my face. I have a keen interest to see it to be completed or demolished. one or the other, but not at this decomposing state for the next 10 years

Which former developer?
the last one.
32 minutes ago, KittenKong said:it is probably Pattaya's biggest joke ever.
joke or not, the decomposing structure is a reality and no one dares to touch it for some veeeery "unknown" reason!
I was just curious on the latest on it, that's all
-
what's the latest on waterfront?
heard some rumors that the project got sold after the former developer went bankrupt

I see it too. Crazy. That's why I came to this forum, to see if it was me - or others noticed it as well. It's crazy. I've been coming here since the 80's and had I noticed this earlier would not have returned. It's beyond rude - it's outright hostility and I really can't imagine why. It's startling and not just vendors. Don't we pour tons of needed money into this place? What is their problem? Anyone?
the world has changed during 40 years. Moral values and attitudes are not same.Population doubled or tripled in many parts. Needs changed. People are getting more aggressive trying to make a living in tighter spaces having to share it with the competition. Rudeness and hostility is everywhere for the most part, not just in Thailand.
I'll let the new generation deal with it. Older generation naturally has hard time dealing with changes, not just today or in this century but throughout the history of the mankind.
it's my 2 cents. I hope I'm wrong but I'm afraid I'm right!

the only thing is why are the police interviewing witnesses to determine who was in the wrong?
a blood alcohol/drug test will reveal if the pick up driver was driving under influence regardless of right-of-way. Interviewing people at the location he had been earlier is also helpful to shed light on circumstances and his state of mind too(i.e. involvement in a fight/argument with wife etc/just fired from job etc.) though useless.
Running the red at that speed automatically makes the Harley 100% guilty but he has already paid the ultimate price, however if pickup driver is also at fault by either being drunk or running a (NO U-turn) red light, he should do some time for involuntary manslaughter.

investments are always risky. So is Sex or Marriage or Pregnancy or number of things we do daily ,weekly or yearly.
Those who put money in project did gamble and will probably loose part or all of it or maybe won't at all. But if they lose it's their problem and no one's business
The structure is still there and it ain't over as the fat lady hasn't sung yet. I can make a guess on a few reasons why it's still there and will probably never be demolished entirely but mentioning them here will not be wise or accurate.
I have mentioned here before that I want it either completed or demolished but not left as an unfinished ghost
