  1. For shopping, perhaps just put it on the back seat. If put in the back of the truck, it will need to be put in serured box somehow. It may move around the bed of the truck otherwise.
  2. If its a"gooddeal" it's probably fake. e,g, China make both fake logitec mouses - there isa cheap version (bout 400 baht from a local come store), or a real one for double the price at a shop in central. They are close in appearance but there are tell tale signs one is fake - they 2 week battery life being one of them! Just buy razors at Tops or similar. Pay and get the real thing.
  3. Maybe they really mean"upcountry"....40M baht for 1 rai of flooded ricefield in Nakorn Nowhere.
  4. Still blowing that trumpet eh? lol As long as you think you are saving the planet, that all that matters right?
  5. Not in Thailand they haven't. Wanna compare resale with that in other countries? What use would that be? Most Japanese cars will destroy Chinese cars for resale hereover the next 10 years. No question about that. Buying a Chinese vacuum and throwing it out when its broken in 2 years is one thing...but a car? No thanks....
  6. Well, while warranty is still active, it should be. Personally I would sell a hybrid before 10 years or so. But in 10 years I would expect batteries/modules to be more affordable. I's avoid electric vehicles for a decade. I want t see more on long term reliability - a nissan leaf battery is 900K+ and good cat is 500K+.
  7. Just browse the second hand car websites to get an idea. Compare across brands that cost similar when new. Longterm reliability and resale of Chinese cars is an unknown at this time.
  8. There's no AWD in Thailand though. Acceleration is very average. Performace in better in the hond hrv or nissan kicks. If I was spending 1.2m or a car now I'd get the honda civic hybrid.
  9. Thas sounds about right. Highway driving will get close to 20km/l or so. www.headlightmag.com gave a number like that. The cross hybrid is very popular now and resale should be easy.
  10. 60K baht in th UK is not much....you can't live well on that....But in Thailand you can live well. In Thailand, shoudl wouldn't automatically get that high salary after getting a PhD. It's likely she woould have to work up to that. My wife got 14K a month 20 years ago when she got her PhD from Australia, then has had to work up the pay scale since then (Government college)
  11. The average in Bangkok is around 40K a month - I assume across the working population. Nonthaburi is highest, at a little more than the BKK number. This was published online a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, I can't find the link anymore.
  12. The tide will be attenuated somewhat as you go upstream. It may only be a 20-30 cm increase in Pak kret, for example. We have a few days of lowish high tides so hopefully that will help water flow to the gulf more quickly. There should be little rain for the next 10 days so that should help a lot too.
  13. Do away with the plugs and get a diesel pickup/ppv. Most diesels well looked after are hard to kill and deal with hilly areas easily.
  14. I don't think the water has actual hit the sign yet has it? Hopefully it has stablised and reached its peak, but that depends on any more increase in release rates from the dams. Once my house got flooded in 2011, it took 6 weeks before the water had dropped below the floor level (and we had only 30-40 cms of water in the house). There ar elower high tides over the next few days so that should help the water get to the gulf faster.
  15. I know there is flooding at the tah chin river bridge, but that is very far from central salaya. I don't see reports of flooding around the shopping center. This photo is at the bridge, the water is obviously not very deep, unlike the video posted here.
  16. I suspect this is a video from 2011?? Was central plaza there in 2011? I drove to mahidol Uni yeterday, and did not detect any problem furher up. My son also went to central salaya yesterday, but took a back road apparently. The road appears clear on google maps at the moment.
  17. Prices from www.tivanon.com (in Nonthaburi). These are 235/45R18. Not sure what size you are looking for. This shp has quite competitive prices. You can also try tyreplus as they specialise in Michelin.
  18. Do you want a sports tire or a comfort oriented tire? I've used ps3 and ps4 on the civis we had (and also on a swift we have now). Wet grip is fantastic, especially on the ps4 . But they make more noise and a little more harsh. We use the toyo cr-1 on the swift now and they are quiet and soft. Nice ride. I'd probably go with the primacy 4 if you can get them in the size you want. Our crv had primacy 3st and they are at 47K kms, still plenty of tread left, but may change them out soon. They are also quiet and soft, and handline and steering response is fine.
  19. Good luck with the sandbag! During 2011, we got about 30 cm of water in the house. We had a huge tv cabinet dowhstairs. We wrapped in in plastice hoping to save it. The water managed to topple it! It was destroyed. Water is a pretty powerful thing, even though it wasn;t flowing at all in my house.
  20. The tide is dropping now...There seems to be a few hours lag between high tide at the mouth of the river and pak kret. King tides are at the end of the month, so hopefully the runoff from up north will have passed by then.
  21. Unfortunately, it will come up through the drainage system and into the house (the bathroom drain holes for example. I'm in pakkret, and have been watching the posted Tide gauge. It has slowly been increasing over the last few days, but it's not at a critical level yet (however, Nonthaburi immigration is getting flooded now, so need the wellingtons if going there). Chaiyapreuk road near there floods at the river, so the u-turn cannot be used. During this time during 2011, last friday was the last day I could drive on that road as it was completely flooded. So the situation this year is much better than 2011. Let's pray for no more rain for the next two weeks.
  22. This....had a 1974 mini...been there done that;)
  23. EVERY dealer will low ball you. They will most likely sell it to a tent and make a small profit. You should always sell cars privately if you have the time and dont need fast cash. If you had triend to sell toa few tents the offers would have been similar. Stick with toyota or honda for good resale value. Look at what old honda jazzes sell for in tents.
