  1. In Thailand it depends on the school/institution. Many students drop out, or "reture" as they like to say, as they cannot cope. We have also sent out students from my school after m3, as they generally were failing all subjects up until that point (regardless of the fact they graduated with a 1.0 gpa, or 50%. Schools don't "need" to keep students after m3, as m3 is the end of compulsory education.
  2. Yes beause every Thai in Nakorn Nowhere has full sound insulation throughout their homes (which are mostly shacks). Welcome to the platform newbie. The unwritten rule is to turn it down after midnight. Pity the Brit didn't kno this, or was just being an a-hole.
  3. Look up "Boro pat" on youtube if you haven't already.
  4. 120km/h on my dial would be about 113-114km/h on a gps/police radar. cruising at 120 always keeps me well below the real speed.
  5. I've actually never had a problem asking questions with a Thai doctor (and I've seen many). But if you are questioning their ability, I would understand they would become uncomfortable.
  6. If you go to the facebook link, these ads are for condos all over Bangkok.
  7. Does Australia export lithium? Australia is the world's largest lithium exporter. It was responsible for more than half of global production last year. About 80% of the lithium dug up in Australia is used to make rechargeable batteries and this proportion is expected to reach 90% as EVs become popular. and.. Does Australia have more lithium than China? According to Statistica, Australia produces 55 per cent of the world's lithium, while China bought over 90 per cent of the country's lithium this year based on figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

    Thai beef

Australian pork is by and large, smelly and disgusting. Thai pork is a delight by comparison.
  9. Are you isolating from your wife? Be careful if you are not. My wife had it for the second time last week. She ust had a dry and a bit of a sore throat and fatigue. Nothing else and tested negative after a few days. Her first bout was more intense but still manageable. I've not had it and haven't worn masks for 6 months - only occasionally at work but not often. Diarrhea is a common side effect of omicron infection and can be dangerous if it causes dehydration and one does not take adequate fluids (the sore throat may make it painful even to drink).
  10. Ban bike rentals and have good and cheap public transport to all/most parts of the island. Bike should only be rented to those with bike licences from their home country. Even that may not save some of them, though, given the driving style of the locals.
  11. She would get a base salary, and a "position payment" for being Director. Probably similar to what my wife used to get in her government position. Her salary will increase, but it would hit a ceiling, and then would require more traning/masters/PhD to get to higher levels. My wife was C9 for many years but it took her close to 20 years to get to that level.
  12. I assume that's before the engine blew:) Most mighty-x's of this year are advertised for 80K or less. Would it be worth to sell it as is and upgrade a few years to a hilux vigo? Unless the rest of your pickup is in great condition, this may be a better option.
  13. I know the head unit can be unlocked in Honda's. But not by the dealer. I've seen it advertised in some honda groups. I think it's about 2000 baht. Failing that, you can change the head unit to one that does allow movies to be played.
  14. More and more Thais are not wearing masks now. I ditched masks in October. Noone even gives me a second look now. And they don't dare say anything.
  15. So, as a healthy person, must wear a mask because someone else may get sick and will verhy highly unlikely end up in hospital? Give it a break mate. If you are vulnerable, it is YOU who should take precautions. Why should millions be inconveniences because a few may have a bad outcome?
  16. Yes...same as at my school, ALL teachers and students need to submit an atk on Sunday, the day before shcooll starts. Apparently due to the SURGE in cases (which, in reality, is just a blip on the radar). This is a complete joke. Yet all thsee kids cram into shops and restaurants after school....wearing no masks!
  17. I'm waiting to see if the Chinese built tesla's are better built than the US ones...their reputation is not so crash hot.
  18. Hyundai and Kia are popular in Australia, but they can barely sell any in Thailand. They tried, but weren't successful.
  19. I don't think Sirirat is cheap, even for Thais. I've been there a few times but Im covered under my wife's civil servant medical benefits scheme. It's a very busy hospital, and will only go there if I get antoher kidney stone. I use local government hospitals for other things - all very cheap and don't pay for the meds.
  20. I had michelin ps3 then ps4 on our swift. It was amazing in the wet. It drove like there was no water on the road. The trade-off was tire noise. After those, we changed to toyo cr-1 which was a good compromise. It was my wife;s car to, so no real need for sports tires, as she doesn't drive fast. Anothe good tire for quietness and comfort is yokohama db 552, though I've not personlly used them.
  21. I want to see if thye have the durability and resale of a toyota or honda after a 10 year period. I will wait this one out for at least another 10 years, before even considering a Chinese ev.
  22. You would know that then of the reports of the ora goot cat literally getting "stuck in the mountains" because its battery overheated!
  23. The wr-v is quite small and less than 1200kg. It's much different than the cr-v. Hybrid are much more economical in city driving as they are powered more by electric than by petrol. I once went is a friends honda accord hybid. When we started to get stuck in traffic the fuel economy went up. MY crv diesel gets 16km/l average, up t 22-23km/l on the highway (20km/l is easy to achieve). You can get a relatively new one for 800-900K baht now. O think the mid spec civic hybrid is a good buy. I would get one of those if I didnt need the high riding position of a crv. I think that is about 1.1m baht.
