  1. Last week I obtained a re-entry permit at CNX. Took about 25 minutes (and should have taken less time.) It's just before the security queue (it used to be after security but before the immigration officer departure lines.)
  2. This place in Lat Krabang is very reasonably priced, each room is a small cabin with flat screen TV. Free airport shuttle, restaurant on-site, wifi, mini-mart, etc. About 10 mins from BKK. https://www.atresidence.com/
  3. Came here to say this. ^^
  4. "According to the police investigative report, the 16 suspects divided the responsibilities, with some taking charge of “mule” bank accounts while others were responsible for transferring money from the mule accounts to other bank accounts." Mules and pornographic websites should never be mentioned in the same article.
  5. If you buy a Xiaomi, the replacement filters are available on Lazada. A genuine Xiaomi replacement filter will cost 800-900 THB (we just purchased one a month ago).....knock-offs can be had for half the price but the reviews I've read say they don't work as well. The manufacturer's recommendation is to replace the filter annually; additionally, the machine has a sensor that tells you how much filter life is remaining each time the machine is powered up. No app required for our model (Mi 3H) to function properly.
  6. No, the time purchase an air purifier was two months ago. Even with an air purifier in house, I left for KL four days ago. It's rained every afternoon I've been here and, as one might expect, the air is significantly better than most places in Thailand.
  7. Based upon hazy recollection of years past, it normally begins a day or two early and ends a day late. If that holds true this year, Songkran festivities in CM would likely be 11-16 April. (Officially, Songkran is 13-15 April.)
  8. Flew out of CNX today and obtained a multiple re-entry permit at the airport prior to the flight. - The last time I did this, the re-entry permit booth was past security (on the left) but prior to the immigration officer departure line booths. Now, it is prior to the security line facing away from your sightline if you are looking at the security line (i.e., if you are facing security, it's behind you.) Easy to miss if you aren't looking for it as you start moving into the security queue. - What started as one form that I filled out in pen (and provided passport photo) to one immigration officer, turned into three immigration officers and another duplicate form printed out that I also signed. The duplicate form had the image of my passport information page in a thumbnail photo at the bottom. - My non-O from Chonburi province was the subject of great interest. I was asked if I used to live in Chonburi (yes), when I moved to Chiang Mai, why was I going to today's destination, how long would I be gone, when would I be returning.....quite the lengthy but not aggressive questioning. I correctly replied (I guess) that I filed a TM-30 when I moved to Chiang Mai, I produced my last 90 day report from Chiang Mai, and was asked to write my address on a separate sheet of paper, even though it was on the form I completed to start the process. Every page of my passport was scrutinized....twice. Also, the senior officer present showed particular interest in my previous, expired non-OA visa stickers. - At about the 25 minute mark, I casually remarked "you guys know I'm here to catch a flight, right?" and that seemed to provide the impetus to wrap things up. I did receive the re-entry permit, with a receipt and the correct change. - By contrast, every other time I've done this drill at CNX, it was a 5-10 minute paperwork exercise that was quite perfunctory. Not this time. (Side note: security line at CNX was quite inefficient. First time at this airport I've had to take off my shoes to go through security.)
  9. https://paleorobbie.com/grocery#Steaks Some nice NZ grass fed steaks as well as First Light wagyu aged steaks rated from MB3+ to MB6+. Quick delivery, shipped by refrigerated truck courier in a couple of days and arrives in a cooler packed in dry ice.
  10. From the OP: "Among the savings accounts, 1,023 had more than 500 million baht, while 98.52 million had less than 50,000 baht." Wealth distribution in Thailand, in a nutshell.
  11. Enuff Z'nuff. Kuala Lumpur, here I come.
  12. I recommend Bangkok R.I.A. group for blood work - they have a lab in CM and I took the "General Public" package that includes: Complete blood count testing (CBC) Fasting blood sugar (FBS) Hemoglobin A1C screening Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL, LDL screening Liver screening (SGOT, SGPT, Alk.phospatase, Total Protein, Albumin, Bilirubin, Globulin) Kidney screening (BUN, Creatinine) Uric acid testing Urine analysis Hepatitis B virus screening (HBs Ag, HBs Ab, HBc Ab) (And I added a pancreatic enzymes test for a small extra fee.) Results emailed within 36 hours; the cost was under 3,000 thb. (They have more comprehensive packages as well.) The website lists their Bangkok location. https://www.brianet.com/en/map-and-contact/
  13. Or just take a screenshot, save to photos.
  14. So will choose to continue receiving refunds or will you choose the "opt out" alternative? (I wonder if they are required by law to offer this option.) "Wise has automatically enrolled a trial group of customers in the UK into receiving fee refunds. If you’d like to stop receiving refunds, you can opt out at any time."
  15. Beer contains alcohol and hops, both of which are preservative in nature. Doubtful that additional preservatives would be added since that would increase cost and likely impact the flavor. (Before someone chimes in with "but you don't know that, do you?", the answer is no I don't personally know that. No one outside of the brewing industry is going to be able to give the definitive answer but for the reasons listed above I think it's unlikely.)
  16. "Some 200 farmers showed up at Chang Phueak Police Station in Chiang Mai’s Muang district on Friday demanding to know what had happened to their money. San Pa Tong Agriculture Cooperative claims that more than 100 million baht of its deposit with a reputable bank has mysteriously disappeared. There has apparently been no sign of the money despite three attempts to negotiate with the bank." https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40025194
  17. Transferred USD on Friday afternoon, arrived in my BBL account today at 14:00. This is typical for WISE transfers for me so any "glitch" that may have been present last week did not affect my transaction in this instance. (Note: my WISE account is "tagged" to use BBL only.)
  18. Was Mr. Roper the landlord advertising the room?
  19. Not donuts! Oh, the horror. Next you'll be telling us there's a warehouse-style grocery store just down the street.....
  20. Is there some reason you can't travel to Chiang Mai for a week or two to decide if you "still like it"? Seems like checking it out in person would be more helpful than asking others - who may have different sets of values than you do - about it.
  21. Can't you leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, re-enter visa exempt, and apply for a new non-O then extend it as you would normally? You have the money in the bank already. Basically, start all over from the immigration perspective.
  22. Obviously I didn't miss it since it was the first sentence of my post. Perhaps in your haste to post you missed that. Again, if he mails it and it is accepted - job done. If they don't accept a mailed 90 day report, he's still going to pay the 2,000 thb fine he's already planning to pay. No reason not to try.
  23. No reason to believe they refuse mail-ins either because, as you said, you didn't receive a clear answer to the question. And thus you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by mailing your 90 day report to Buriram Imm. If they accept it (and there's no reason that they shouldn't), great job! If they don't accept it, you'll be in the exact same situation you are now - you'll be paying a 2,000 THB fine. (I'm surprised no one has suggested just paying a Pattaya visa agent 500 thb or so to file one for you there - you wouldn't even have to go to immigration.)
  24. 90 day reports are required when you are within the national borders of the country of Thailand for 90 consecutive days. If you leave prior to 90 days, no report is required. If you leave and return, the day you return is day 1 of your new 90 day cycle.
  25. If you liked Chiang Mai in 2016, you'd probably still like it. If you didn't, you won't.
