  1. Considering we're in the middle of a four day holiday weekend here in Thailand, I'd say odds are good you'll receive your deposit on Monday, 8 May.
  2. If there is an international flight departing, there will be immigration officers on duty. (May be obvious to me only.)

  4. This has not been my experience. Last time I attempted to submit online two weeks prior to the due date. It was rejected with seven days remaining to report. I then mailed it to CM immigration and it was approved/returned within three business days.
  5. it is significantly better today than, say, two weeks ago. Verging on "yellow" metrics using the various AQI measurement websites.
  6. It's even easier than that. Grab has a section of their app - "Mart" - that you click on and then you can order the items you want directly from the grocery store; Grab sends a driver to get them and deliver them to you.
  7. Worst burning season in the past 8 years. I'll be relocating prior to next year's events.
  8. So the family was carrying rabies and the rabbit died from biting them? Huh, didn't see that one coming.
  9. You can very easily purchase cannabis edibles that tell you exactly how much THC is contained in a 'dose'. Once you determine your preferred dose, good to go - you can control your high just as with smoking a joint. [What many people seem not to realize (or are too impatient to find out) is that there is a much longer time lag effect when eating cannabis than there is when smoking cannabis. Like 45-90 mins, depending upon various factors. So newbs often eat some, think "it isn't working" when they don't feel the effects 15 mins later, then eat some more. When it all does finally kick in, that's when it gets interesting.]
  10. "High pollution levels in Thailand’s northern city of Chiang Mai and surrounding provinces are keeping tourists away and alarming locals, with the government on Monday, April 10, urging residents to avoid outdoor activities. Chiang Mai, known for its scenic mountainous views, temples and chic cafés, received 10.8 million visitors in pre-pandemic 2019, but hotel bookings in the city have dropped to 45% occupancy, the Thai Hotel Association Northern Chapter president Phunut Thanalaopanich told Reuters on Monday. That is far short of the 80% to 90% expected ahead of this week’s Thai New Year holidays, known as Songkran." https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/thailand-air-pollution-tourism-intl-hnk/index.html
  11. Wow. When one works in an office - and there's a holiday - one doesn't have to go to work in the office. Similarly, when one works from home - and there's a holiday - one doesn't have to work from home.
  12. Yeah, I'm gonna add that the prices of everything are going up here. One of my favorite watering holes in Bangkok actually had a note on the tables today apologizing for the increase in prices, stating that their suppliers had raised prices and thus they had to do same. My "go to" bacon cheeseburger went from 380 to 455 and a pint of Guinness went from 260 to 300 thb.
  13. Suk Soi 24 (Bangkok) : Just past Emporium, Sukhumvit Express, 100 thb/kg. Suk Soi 22: SuperWhite, 100 thb/kg Sukhumvit, near Asok: Ayuthaya massage/laundry, 100 thb/kg Chiang Mai: Lek Laundry, 50 thb/kg (near Corner Bistro, just around the corner) Another place next door, same price.
  14. In the unlikely event that things go sideways (flight cancellations, weather delays, unplanned re-schedulings, etc.), it's much easier to get the airline to help rectify your situation if you book through the airline directly. If you book through a third party and things go awry, the airline will often tell you to contact that third party to help you. Good luck finding someone from online-travel-agent.com to help you when you're stuck in a blizzard in Minsk..
  15. Excellent service by this company. Recommended.
  16. I flew into DMK yesterday from Malaysia (with checked luggage and a carry-on). A2 bus from DMK was 30 THB and the transfer to BTS at Mo Chit was 50 THB to my hotel. No scams involved.
  17. Interesting, I won't add a credit card to ride share apps in Thailand even when i can. Too many ways for the driver to scam you or screw up and then it's on you to deal with either (a) a non-responsive chatbot in another language or (b) your own credit card company for the chargeback. I use credit cards extensively so I'm def not anti-credit card, I just won't use them with ride share/food delivery companies here.
  18. Yes it is.
  19. I went to that counter at DMK yesterday....."no have cars". (And yes, no AOT at DMK.) But fortune smiled yesterday at DMK - arrived at immigration to one person in front of me in the queue, checked bag came out immediately, as soon as I walked outside the A2 bus pulled up to take me to Mo Chit BTS, and when I reached the BTS platform the train arrived within two minutes. I was in my hotel 50 minutes after stepping off the plane. (Plus, the IO recognized my non-O and re-entry permit and stamped me in correctly.)
  20. OP, you need a man with a very particular set of skills. Skills he has acquired over a very long career. Skills that make him a nightmare for people like the property owner.
  21. Yes. Had to travel from Bangkok Central to Pattaya for a three hour meeting. Driver picked me up on time at my hotel (Toyota Camry), dropped me off in Pattaya, then waited the three hours for me and drove me back to my hotel in Bangkok. No charge for the waiting time, tolls and gas included in the price of the ride.
  22. Fly to BKK then: https://www.namstaxiladydrivers.com/
