  1. Faulty is nowhere near the same as useless, the very fact that it works the majority of the time is proof that it is not useless. Maybe because they are desk officers and not computer programmers?
  2. Why is it ridiculous that an FD account would need to show a 12 month statement? (truly I don't see why they should not)
  3. Nothing to do with being arsed to do it, all to do with not paying tax on the income. The income from expats here is minuscule in comparison to the overall economy.
  4. "Paying voluntary National Insurance contributions - ridiculous processing time" Seems you have a problem with your home countries computers too 🙂
  5. Nope, you can get a Thai license without having any other license, you just have to do the full training, (exactly the same as the Thais do).
  6. No, what you would see is every digital gonad and whorist knocking up some lady, just so they could stay here.
  7. Clearly not the case. Correct the DTV is a visa, but it is also a class of tourist visa, and this maybe the stumbling block.
  8. The OP means waiting for the visa to be approved
  9. Correct, during this year though you will need a re-entry permit if you are leaving the country at all.
  10. The grace period is for making a report in person, there is no grace period for leaving the country. As has been said, just skip it and hope it does not get noticed at your next check in, if it does, then a swift 2k fine will follow.
  11. You are aware that that is the application to visit NON THAI family ? That is not the one you want to be applying for if you are married to a Thai.
  12. As has been pointed out to you before, (with evidence), they may require proof of onward travel, not always a flight. (you really need to learn that you are not always correct, the same as no one is)
  13. An onward flight is the preferred method of proof, but not the only acceptable one
  14. And your evidence of that is where? Here is mine; "Many years ago I made a return trip from Bangkok to Hong Kong, while on a visa waiver entry. In anticipation of being asked in Hong Kong on the way back, I had bought a train ticket to Malaysia before leaving Thailand. It all worked out exactly as expected, no problem when asked for onward journey proof."
  15. Proof of onward travel is all that is needed, it does not have to be a flight.
  16. I doubt you ever came in on a VOA or the immigration officer would not have told you that you needed a visa next time. Chances are you came in visa exempt, totally different.
  17. OK, if your termination letter states the 14th, then go to labour a few days before and cancel your work permit. Then go to immigration and cancel your extension, it will show as being cancelled on the 14th, so no worries about overstay or new denied extension. According to STM2 which you signed, you must inform immigration if your circumstances change,(whether on your last day or not). If you don't cancel your extension, then further down the line when you come to extend your DTV, you could find yourself in for a 20k fine.
  18. 18 months ago you said you were going to do this ? "I would certainly prefer to simply transfer the funds from our joint savings account at Bangkok Bank, which has a balance of >฿1M (all transferred via WISE over the last 3 years), to the personal account that I must open"
  19. It makes him the legal father, it does not bestow any custody rights, in Thailand they automatically go to the mother.
  20. This does not mean a great deal, as they will issue a single entry with just a name on a birth certificate. Your big stumbling block will be the fact that you do not have legal custody of the child.
  21. No such thing, at the moment the visa is based on being over 50, nothing to do with being retired.
