Overstay: Where to surrender yourself?
bigt3116 replied to ttkeric's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you're a Malaysian citizen in Thailand and require an Emergency Certificate (EC) due to a lost or stolen passport, the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok can assist you. Application Process: Report to Local Authorities: Police Report: Immediately report the loss or theft of your passport to the local police and obtain an official report. Contact the Embassy: Embassy Details: Address: Embassy of Malaysia, 33-35 South Sathorn Road, Tungmahamek, Sathorn, Bangkok 10120, Thailand. Phone: +66 (0) 2 629 6800 Email: [email protected] Appointment: It's advisable to contact the embassy to schedule an appointment and confirm the required documents. Prepare Necessary Documents: Identification Proof: Provide a copy of your Malaysian identity card (MyKad) or any other form of identification. Passport-Sized Photographs: Typically, two recent color photographs with a white background are required. Proof of Travel: If applicable, provide evidence of your intended travel plans. Application Form: Complete the necessary application form provided by the embassy. Submit Application and Pay Fees: Processing Time: The issuance of an EC may take a few working days, depending on the completeness of your application and verification processes. Fees: Inquire directly with the embassy regarding the applicable fees for the EC. Important Considerations: Validity: An Emergency Certificate is typically valid for a single journey back to Malaysia. -
Are you serious? How on earth does the bank know where you live NOW ?

Just done the process for a certified copy of my British passport. British consular services for the certified copy, (ours is 25GBP and you make an online appointment to collect) Then off to the Office of Consular Affairs at Chang Wattana (MRT pink line, station called Government Complex) Office of Consular affairs is right there at the bottom of the steps. A few people around who will do the translation (400 baht) and get you a queue number Once translated (about an hour), they will take you to the waiting area for consular affairs About 30 mins, hand your stuff over, they will get you to fill out your address for them to post the docs to you. Pay (200-400 depending on signatures), get your receipt and go home and wait for the mail.

Ah ok, I just don't see anywhere that the op mentions retirement extension? (maybe you dug into his old posts, but that does not change what you wrote on this thread, that does not mention retirement). Also you wrote "The only time 90 report has anything to do with extension is for first extension from the non O", notice the use of the word "only", that intimates that it is "only" a first extension from a Non-O, (that is what you wrote and that is what I as a native speaker of English understood it to mean). That is why I mentioned that it is a first extension from any non-immigrant visa, surely any extra correct information is valuable to the members of this forum?

Change 1 Year Extension date

Reading the op, it would seem that he must have a valid re-entry permit, so maybe not so simple as "starting over"? -
Requirements for UK passport renewal
bigt3116 replied to Batty's topic in Q&A, Ask the Consular Team
This section of the Immigration act is what they use to make you produce your passport; "Section 58 : Any alien who has no lawful document for entering the Kingdom under Section 12 (1); or has no Residence Certificate under this Act; and also has no identification in accordance with the Law on Alien registration, is considered to have entered into the Kingdom in violation to this Act." -

Nope, the law only requires that you can provide your passport in a "reasonable time" -
Has anyone done a masters degree in Thailand?
bigt3116 replied to Chris Daley's topic in Higher Education in Thailand
A pink NON Thai id card has zero to do with studying or visas! Rajabhat universities do not have courses taught in English (at least none I have heard of, and mine certainly does not), which is what the op wants. -

Dipped below 800k for money in bank method
bigt3116 replied to DrJack54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From Ubonjoe "For an extension based upon marriage it will not be accepted." and "A joint account will not be accepted for a extension based upon marriage." Same thread, a different poster "I had the same experience for my retirement visa a couple of years back when Immig in Chiang Mai accepted a double deposit. " So it still seems like the best option is to ask the individual immigration office what their policy is. 🙂 -
Dipped below 800k for money in bank method
bigt3116 replied to DrJack54's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
"Have read that this was accepted at various io, but you would need check with your imm office." Someone posted that a while back. Someone else on the same thread posted this; "I went to Chiang Mai Immigration today and can confirm that you can use a Joint Bank Account, for applying for a 1 year extension based on Marriage, as long as you have at least double the normally required funds." So maybe some offices will accept double funds in a joint account? -

Just to clarify, Thailand does not have probate, they have a process called 'estate administration' and they are nowhere near the same. Also, don't forget a foreign will may have to be legalized and translated for the Thai court to take it into consideration. 🙂 -
Visa exemption VS retirement visa

Retirement visa after overstay ban
bigt3116 replied to thaibreaker's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
But most offices will process an extension with a day or two overstay, that is why I think it is current overstay, not historical. -

That means that if you are currently on overstay you can not apply, not if you have overstayed in the past.
