  1. Blame that on the Thai authorities who wanted the income verified by the embassy, something they obviously could not do. That makes perfect sense, there is a big difference between someone who was murdered and someone who died of old age in a hospital.
  2. Just to clarify, if using Jomtien Immigration, they require 2 months seasoning for the initial Non-O
  3. How has the British embassy made the life of expats in Thailand "difficult" ? Again, how have they done this ?
  4. Whatever! OP also be aware that your first extension will have to be for same reason as the issuance of the visa
  5. "An embassy is the base for a country's diplomatic mission abroad – meaning all of the political, cultural and social relationships between the states. " True the consular section is there to help out people if possible in an emergency, sorry, but running out of pages in your passport is not an emergency.
  6. The OP does want to renew his passport because it EXPIRES before his extension (supposedly)
  7. the British embassy does not "handle these things", and that is not what "they are there for!"
  8. That would all depend on the reason for issuance of the visa (business/marriage/retirement)
  9. Because that is only for emergency travel, not to stay in the country Also, the British Embassy has nothing to do with new passport applications, that is all done via VFS
  10. Couple of things, 2005 was a long time ago Second, they will never ask for tax payments from tourist visa holders
  11. Do you have a link to where it says that for marriage extensions ? Because that is not what it says here; https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14714
  12. You are still missing the point that we are saying that he can't have an extension beyond his passport's expiry date - the OP really needs to check
  13. Grandfathering did not require any amount of previous extensions, all that mattered was your age and extension status on 21 October 1998 (both age and financials changed that day)
  14. I did not say it couldn't , but the post I quoted quite clearly mentions a VOA, which is totally different to a visa exempt entry I mentioned it to clarify the point for other people reading the thread who may be in a similar situation
  15. You are also missing the point that a VOA can not be converted into a Non-O in country
  16. Your words Your words The OP clearly states that his passport expires before his extension
  17. Actually it is MORE time without your passport, the consulate keeps your passport to issue the visa, immigration does not
  18. And what I am saying is that it is not possible to have an extension beyond the passport's validity
  19. You appear to have totally missed the point that the passport expires before his extension of stay, and the he does not have time to get a new passport (ergo the op needs to check when his extension actually ends)
  20. You can not switch from a Non-OA visa to a Non-O visa inside Thailand
  21. very true, but an extension of stay can not be issued for longer than the validity of your current passport " 𝗠𝘆 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗶 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮.. I believe you misunderstand the process. You get an extension up to a year OR for the validity of the passport (if it's less than a year) When you get a new passport they will transfer the extension stamps to it BUT they will not give you the time you lost because you're the one that applied with a passport valid less than a year You now have a new expiration date for your extension (which as you say is May) and that will be your yearly extension renewal date from now on." To quote an ASEAN Now global moderator :-)
  22. That is what he wrote in the OP I would be checking the old passport to confirm when the extension is actually valid until
  23. Terminated does not mean cancelled. Plenty of horror stories of people not cancelling Ed and B extensions and then being charged overstay when they apply for a new extension
