Suvarnabhumi Automated Passport Gates Not Available for Visa Holders with Re-Entry Permits?
A comment from whom? An Immigration official? Some schmoe on the interwebs? I inferred the latter when I saw that "comment". I think we need some sort of official announcement from Pol Lt Gen Itthipol Itthisarnronnachai.

Thailand to abolish hefty import tariff on wine
Not sure I understand the logic here. To make up for the lost tax revenue, they're going to have to rely on increased consumption. Has someone done the math, or is some duopoly going to benefit from this change?

Almost 500 Minors Found Partying During Night Club Raid in Pathum Thani
This is probably more alarming. I bet most of the exits are barricaded, to prevent folks from sneaking in. There hasn't been a catastrophic night-club fire in a year or so.

Suvarnabhumi Automated Passport Gates Not Available for Visa Holders with Re-Entry Permits?
There is one report on reddit about someone (non-b, wp, reep) who used the autogate on departure and faced challenges upon returning, for lack of a stamp. The issue was sorted quickly and they were stamped in. That incident might be down to the relative newness of this option. I probably wouldn't risk it (just like the OP), even facing a two-hour wait.

Doctors send report on Thaksin’s illnesses to Corrections Department
One would think that if everything were 'above board' then inmate Thaksin would want the details of his special treatment(s) to be made public. What is there to hide? Hair dye overdose? Plastic surgery to "unbox" his head? I think all of us remember when Rama IX was dealing with major health issues in the Hospital, his Doctors gave very, very detailed information about the issues, and treatments. I guess inmate Thaksin is entitled to special treatment. On the plus side, this will all be over in ~ five weeks, as he gets sprung on 22 Feb. These "efforts", official double-speak and talk of "reports" are just the final act in this drama.

Can Thailand detonate the baby boom it needs as retirement time bomb looms?
On the plus side, the Education budget (~ 35% graft) will be halved. If people have confidence in the future of their country then they will have more incentive to have more children. I guess that Thais see little hope for the future - other than the next lottery number - just the same, same as the past 100 years, so they have no desire to bear and raise more children. If there was a path forward with new political leadership and a minimization of hereditary and military control, then folks might regain hope.

Thai Health Minister Proposes Marijuana Bill Focusing Only on Medical Use
No surprise here. The current regime has been very consistent in voicing its intent to re-criminalize cannabis. I think some are hoping for a soft landing on a very loosely controlled "medical-only" solution - "Doc, it hurts when I do this." - but that will probably not fly - MoPH and DTAM will 'control' Cannabis use and distribution. If cannabis is now so dangerous how can the government and its Ministry of Public Health allow anyone to smoke cannabis? It is clear that Cholnan et al are struggling with the re-criminalization, and there is no real 'middle path' through, so not sure where this ends up. They'll have to issue clear guidelines to the Police on what constitutes Cannabis 'crimes' since there is no intent (right now) to return Cannabis to the Narcotics list(s), and it is not illegal to produce, distribute or use < .02% THC today. This Irish Kerfuffle provides some cover - Damn you Enzo and Harley - but is not significant given the MASSIVE quantities of hard drugs which Thailand complicity tranships throughout the world. https://www.revenue.ie/en/corporate/press-office/press-releases/2024/pr-010524-cannabis-dublin-athlone-shannon-airport.aspx

Suvarnabhumi Automated Passport Gates Not Available for Visa Holders with Re-Entry Permits?
So you saw the sign, then headed for a staffed booth, and were stamped out of Thailand. Seems like you were in the best position to ask your question.

Suvarnabhumi Automated Passport Gates Not Available for Visa Holders with Re-Entry Permits?
Can you elaborate on the text of this sign? In Thai and English? Just one sign propped up somewhere? Isn't the re-entry permit desk, for those wishing to purchase one at the airport, AFTER departing Immigration at Suvarnabhumi? (I understand one can have a re-entry permit in hand.)

TM30 - New website address for filing notifications and registration
AFAIK this only works for records from the previous seven days. Anything older cannot be searched for and returns data not found message. Again AFAIK, this limitation has not been addressed in the most recent updates. It is best to search for the record, locate it, and export it as a PDF for saving or printing as soon as it is filed.

PM Prioritizes Higher Education and Innovation
The PM knows of what he speaks, that's why he attended university in the U.S. and sent his sons to universities in the U.S. and England. The Thai educational system is working exactly as designed. Keep them dumbed down, indoctrinated, respectful of their betters, in debt, and drugged up on meth and lao khoa. Effectively changing it would require a complete restructuring of the Thai hierarchical social system. And you can forget about that ever happening.

Thai authorities stumble on 7.5 kilos of heroin destined for Australia
More poison from Myanmar. Thailand is quietly complicit in offering trans-shipment services. Myanmar overtakes Afghanistan to become world’s leading opium producer, UN says Myanmar has become the world’s biggest producer of opium, overtaking Afghanistan after the ruling Taliban imposed a ban on poppy cultivation, according to a new United Nations report. The Southeast Asian nation produced an estimated 1,080 metric tons of opium in 2023, the highest since 2001, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) said in its report. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/12/13/asia/myanmar-worlds-leading-opium-producer-intl-hnk/ Southeast Asia Opium Survey 2023 Cultivation, Production, and Implications https://www.unodc.org/roseap/uploads/documents/Publications/2023/Southeast_Asia_Opium_Survey_2023.pdf

Two factor authentication (2FA) app (urged by WISE)
A lot of financial services companies offer 2FA via their mobile app. (Chase and Fidelity are two that I use often.) I think WISE offers this as one easy 2FA option. We use 2-step verification when we need to confirm it's really you. The 2 steps are: Enter your password Confirm that it’s you through the Wise app on a trusted device, or enter a code you receive by text message, phone call or from your authenticator app 2-step verification methods There are 3 ways to complete 2-step verification: receive a code by text message or phone call receive a notification in the Wise app on a trusted device enter a code from a separate authenticator app https://wise.com/help/articles/2960083/what-is-step-verification

PM Offers Clarification on Landbridge Project
The PM is selling a non-existent bridge. Transporting oil across the Thai Land-Bridge will involve a pipeline, and be incredibly inefficient. He looks silly and incompetent pushing this idea. But that's his "brand".
