Because I'm diabetic and every single Thai dish is loaded with carbs. Try eating Thai food every day without rice or noodles and see what your options are.

gao lao, hoy tod, nam prik(any variety) with fresh vegetables, etc.   A lot of dishes can be eaten without rice if you choose too.  I have some Thai friends that eat like that.

Most westerners eat potatoes of some form with most meals.

No wonder since now they tax interest income starting with the first Satang. Before they started after reaching 20.000 Baht. But wait - next year the people will get tax refunds for this. Perhaps it is just borrowed money?

there is still the 20K baht exemption.  But for farang accounts they take the tax out anyway, not for thai accounts though.  I'm sure they figure most farangs won't claim the tax back.

  3. It is not that dangerous for humans.  It does have some venom but it is rear fanged so it doesn't inject it like front fanged snakes do.  You would have to let it chew on you for awhile to get any effect from it.  Even then it probably would not be that bad.

Fixed accounts in Thailand are not exactly like Certificates of Deposit in the US.  One of the differences is that you CAN add --- I'm not sure about withdraw (maybe with a penalty).  I knew this beforehand, but felt sandbagged learning about the 2000 baht minimum 30 minutes before my visit to TM.

Yes, I know it's still my money even though I'll never see it again.  Hope my heirs and descendants use it wisely.

You can withdraw from them.  That is one of the requirements for Thai Immigration acceptance.  When I set up my fixed account, SCB, I asked them about it.  They said if you withdraw from it you will only be paid interest on the lowest balance for the period.  Or in other words you will earn no interest on the portion you withdraw early.

  5. There are a few brands of this kind of dog food.  They are ground meat.  But they do contain quite a bit of ground bone fragments too.  Maybe up to .5CM in size.  If that is a concern for you don't use it.  I don't know why but it has a different smell to it than what you get from ground meat you buy for human consumption.  Maybe from the bone content or perhaps some organ meat in it too?
