If the government wanted a solution they could easily increase this tax by 100 or 200 Baht per year and insure all foreigners to a basic level / cover any losses as it would bring in a massive amount of money but they choose not to.
The problem with that is they would just pocket the money and not spend it on what they justified adding it for.

I looked at one at the dealership. I didn't like it. I would rather buy both a Raptor and Everest for less money. (disclosure: I own both a Raptor and Everest.)

Wouldn't it be great if Pinocchio was the head of TAT. That would be a tourist attraction in itself.

In Ratchaburi 30 mins to 1 hour is the norm for an extension. No queue numbers handed out there.

Get rid of the two way u-turns,have one turning Left only,
then another at least 100 yards away turning Right only.
One near us over the last few years 20 + people have been killed
and that's only one.
regards Worgeordie
Except I see people using u turns clearly marked for one direction only still being used both ways. I have even seen police using them that way.

He said that if all vehicles had the technology then the DLT would be able to monitor speeds.
And the added benefit would be that the location of the driver would be known at all times meaning that crime could be lessened too.
monitor speeds = tickets in the mail.
So they would know who the driver is too?
Or if you want to commit crime and/or speed disable the device.

The biometrics system would be more useful if it caught blacklisters entering the country instead of leaving it.

Does that mean they are going to tax MSG?
There will be riots!
MSG has half the sodium that salt does.

Also, I ask you: Have you ever heard a better tune than, "Minute by Minute"?
Alice Cooper, Dead Babies (from breathing toxic air)
The Doobies were better without Michael McDonald.

I'm glad I live in Ratchaburi. Usually takes about 30 minutes to do an extension. They don't even give out queue numbers.

My understanding is that the tax exemption for our first B20,000 of interest remains in effect.
For Thai account holders they do not withhold tax until over the 20K baht exemption. But for farang account holders they withhold the tax from everything. It would then be up to the farang to claim it back by filing Thai taxes. I assume a large percent of farang won't bother with it and that the government thinks that too, which is why they do it.

I got one from Nakhon Pathom for my drivers license about 4 years ago. It was free and done while waiting in the office.
You can also get them from your embassy but they charge. $50 for US embassy, unless it has gone up since I checked quite awhile ago.

If the guy had just drove through the checkpoint he most likely would have just been waved through unless of course he had other issues like no registration, no license, etc.
I have seen many instances where the Thai police have shown great restraint. But probably not when someone is trying to run away from them.

I think underage prostitution is bad and the bar owners should definitely be prosecuted for allowing it. That said I would not be surprised if those girls did not feel like they were 'rescued'. Hopefully they were not forced or sold into it. I do know that still happens here.

When we moved here the wife insisted on bringing the ninja blender, 1300 watt. We bought a couple of those small ones that are a small plug in transformers. Even though they said they were rated for higher wattage it did not work and smoked. Plus you may at times forget and accidentally plug it straight in. As others have said you need those bigger transformers. You should be able to get them at construction or electrical stores.
After a few years I got tired of the big transformer sitting on the counter, it's heavy. I ended up buying a ninja blender on amazon.co.uk so no transformer was needed just an adapter plug.
If you have stuff that is dual voltage it will work fine here. Most dual voltage stuff automatically switches but you may find some stuff you have to do manually.
My advice is just to buy stuff here that will work with no hassle.

Naew Na said the arrest was in line with immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang's policy and that the public can call 1178 to report violators.
How would the public know someone was on overstay just by looking at them?

Shower trap/drain... Thai vs Western
in DIY Forum
Posted
There are 2 types of floor drains that will work for keeping out odors and critters.
One type like you have shown with the flap at the bottom that closes when no water is flowing. I also used to have a similar type that used a spring to shut the flap, it sealed better but the spring wore out after about a year, and they seem hard to find now.
The other type uses water to seal. There are some that hold very little water and evaporate real fast. The ones with deeper tubes work better but your drain pipe has to go down straight for a few inches before turning to use them.
