If your income is in Thailand you will have to pay taxes on it in Thailand. The US exempts a little over $100K from taxes for income earned overseas, to avoid double taxation. I also believe the first 120K baht or so earned in Thailand is not taxed.

For minor things you can go straight to a pharmacy and tell them what is wrong or what drug you want. There are no prescriptions here but some controlled medications can only be dispensed by a hospital. To get medicine at a hospital you have to see a doctor there. Government hospitals are cheap but have a more limited selection of drugs to dispense. Private hospitals charge high prices for their medications. If you can get it at a local pharmacy it will be cheaper. Lots of doctors that work at hospitals also run clinics on their own. These are usually open in the evening after they are done working at the hospital.

The Thai's where I live are almost all complaining about wages being lowered and prices going up. Of course public spending will go down when this happens.

Thai justice always goes more lightly on those who compensate their victims with cash. It is just how it works here. And most families would rather get the money than get no money and see the person go to jail.
Of course he should have had to served some time also in my opinion. And likely he would have if he had not compensated the family so well.

None that I have found are that accurate.

I would say the same percentage have burnt out lights on their motorbikes. And a bulb only costs 10 baht.

I use Capitalone but do not have any credit cards. From what I have read it was credit card applications that were hacked.

Still marvel that I would spend less if I stayed one month then if I stayed 3 weeks! But that will be for the next longer trip.
If that is true why not just pay for the month and leave early?

Maybe they have been playing that game from the other thread....

Gland it worked out for you. But it still seems odd that you have to show income proof for a 90 day report. That is not normal.
Also if you were going to do a border run on the spur of the moment like that and had not taken time to get a reentry permit first, it would have been worse.

I don't live in a tourist town. And just today talking to some people they were complaining about the bad economy. Their wages have dropped to 250-280/day now from 300/day. And prices at the local market are going up too. So they are getting hit on both sides.

Being a millionaire used to mean you were rich. But it really isn't that much money anymore. I read an article not too long ago that you needed 25 million or more to be considered rich(talking US dollars).

More than likely to track 'threats to the kingdom'. I.E. those that disagree with those in power.

As we have probably all been told 90 day reporting is a separate thing from permission to stay.
Hope you get it cleared up. Let us know what happens.

even if the brown and blue are in the correct slots in the heater it does not necessarily mean they are connected properly at the other end or somewhere between. Best to check which wire is actually the hot wire. And also that the earth/ground wire is actually grounded.

Wow! So many people with helmets on the pic. Usually only 50% of Thais and expats and 90% of the tourists wear helmets in Chiang Mai.
Staged event. They are all wearing the same helmets too. Also police walking besides them. And the people holding signs, the one you can read, says "Don't drive drunk"

so if I understand well, this 7 days grace period work only for extension of stay, not for the first year visa.
WRONG!!! 7 day grace period is ONLY for 90 reporting, like if you have a visa or extension of stay for a years period, but you have to report your address every 90 days.
There is no grace period for extension of stay.

1) Use a service such as transferwise to send it to a Thai bank. TransferWise limits the transaction to 2 million baht maximum and for me(USA) the fee for that amount is about $470 but you get a good exchange rate. A problem people are having with TransferWise if they have to show the transfer as international for visa purposes. TransferWise transfers are showing as a domestic transfer now.
2) If you have a relative or friend you trust enough send the money to them and have them wire it to your account. I have my sister do it for me. Fee for her is $75. But you can send much larger amounts this way. You will not get as good an exchange rate as using transferwise, about 20 satang less if find. So that eats some of your money too.
3) If your home bank allows you to do international wires online you can do it that way too. Expect about the same as 2 above in costs.
4) You can also give the Thai bank here a check to deposit from your home account. This is slower, 3 weeks to 3 months for the check to clear. And may fail. The Thai bank charges a fee for it and if the check does not clear they charge you an even larger fee. Last time I tried it failed. Reason given was that my home bank said they could not contact me. I think they took 2,000 baht from my account for that not clearing.
Some banks have transferwise integrated into them, such as N26. That could make it easier for you.
(Crypto currency may be another way to do it. But I don't have any knowledge about that.)
No matter what, other than bringing cash in with you when traveling, you are going to lose a pretty large amount of money on the transfer. If you do bring in cash do not exchange it at banks or hotels here. Use an exchange shop such as superrich for a much better exchange rate.
