  1. Lot's of people driving with no insurance, which means unregistered too. But the basic liability insurance required to register a vehicle only pays for medical, no property damage. However the limits on it are pretty low, thus the about 700 baht per year cost. 80K baht for injury, up to 500K baht for death or permanent disablity, 200 baht per day if hospitalized but no more than 20 days.
  2. Most likely without seeing a video of the incident the driver of the vehicle was probably going the wrong way on the shoulder of the road. Which, as far as I can tell, Thai's don't consider to be part of the road. However after reading the linked article it isn't as described: " Nathan Jones, a friend and fellow Muay Thai fighter, launched a fundraiser to assist Kirk in his journey home. Jones recounted the horrifying details of the accident, emphasising Kirk’s innocence in the matter and the grievous extent of his injuries. “Tommy was only crawling along when another driver came flying through an intersection and wiped him out. More a story of someone running an intersection than driving on the wrong side of the road. And yes as has been mentioned the titles on a lot of the Thaiger linked articles are pretty rediculous. But that is Thaiger writers doing it. AN is just copying their articles.
  3. Thai doctors are amazing. Giving dead bodies the ability to talk.
  4. That is what I am saying. I just do a regular retirement extension, no need for a wife. My wife did come with me and he called her up and asked for her ID and phone number. This has never happened before.
  5. several years ago, 8 or so, the big stores would sell between those hours but you had to buy at least 12 liters or so. You could buy 15 of the big beer bottles. Also restaurants used to not be affected by those hours but it seems they started cracking down on that too.
  6. Lots of people lean out over them to get a better view around them. With the low railings once your torso is on the other side of the rail the majority of your wieght is on the wrong side.
  7. Not for a normal retirement visa. Nothing to do with marriage. I've never had to draw a map. What if my wife wasn't with me or I wasn't married? I also had given them a copy of the TM30. He said something about a lot of falang were giving addresses but didn't really stay there.
  8. A couple of weeks ago I did my extension in Ratchaburi. Just a normal retirement extension with 800K in the bank. For the first time ever they also wanted to see my wife's Thai ID and get her phone number. Then he whips out a cellphone and asks for any place around where we live. So I gave him the name of the closest Wat. He hands the phone to me with google maps open on the Wat's location and asks me to show him where my house is.
  9. I was in Phuket several years ago and talking to a guy from the UK. I told him, "Russians don't seem very friendly." He replied, "They don't even like each other."
  10. When I did my extension last week the bank just printed out 3 months of account details and the letter of current account amount. I also provided copies of all the pages in my account book. I was not asked for my actual account book. I did bring it with me just in case though. I do have to make a small transaction on the day I get the letter because they want to see a balance in the book on that date despite having the letter from the bank. This is in Ratchaburi.
  11. Finding a better place to live is not an option?
  12. When I first moved here the first year I lost weight. Then I started gaining it all back. For about the last year I have lost about 21 kilos. Intermitent fasting and low carb sugar. It also helped with my blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Specially blood sugar.
  13. On Lazada search for mr peter for a plug in one. You can buy refills seperately. I've seen some mosquito repellents that look like air fresheners at BigC.
  14. LOL. Like the democrats are going to keep some of their voters from entering the country. Just like they always shut down showing proof of citizenship to vote as being racist.
  15. Live next to a Wat. You will get lots of blasted music.
  16. A couple of years ago was my last renewal. I did not need a medical certificate for it. Just the residence certificate. The last time in addition to the vision/reaction tests I had to watch a video that lasted about 45 minutes. But no test on it.
  17. Ok. She disappeared. So how would the young relative know/think she was dead? As Scuba said she should have not let anyone know how much money she had. Sounds like she had loaned money to several people too. Perhaps one of them didn't want to pay it back.
  18. They left out the first part of the sentence, "When I woke up the van..."
  19. The house book does not show ownership. A chanote does that.
  20. We recently poured the ashes of my brother-in-law and my father. My mom had brought some of his ashes over to me for some reason. We hired a boat for the ceremony. We were the ones that poured the ashes into the water. This was by the Pak Kret pier on the Chaophraya River in Bangkok.
  21. A couple of days ago I was driving from Bangkok back home to Ratchaburi. On the way there was a pickup truck in front of me with 3 falang sitting in the back. They seemed to be having a grand time and were even waving at some of the other cars as they passed by. I think they were even amazed to see me, a falang, driving a vehicle behind them.
  22. I was looking at SCB's website yesterday and they had an article stating they made 54+billion baht in profit for 2023.
  23. I'd rather see a woman with ribbons in her hair than ones with those awful eyebrow tatoos, fixed noses, pasty white bleached skin, etc...
  24. Who cares what emoji a person uses? It has nothing to do with their intelligence anyway. Some probably just think they are being funny.
