  1. There are lots of transliterations that have a non existent 'r' in them. 'T' also. Such as Ratchaburi has no 't' in it.
  2. The problem here is you don't know if that photo is of the actual dog. They just do a search for 'dog tied up' or such and post a picture. 'The photo credit says china press.

  6. At least they didn't arrest him for giving Thailand a bad image.
  7. You can get insurance to just cover accidental injuries. Thai banks have debit cards that provide accident insurance. The cards cost around 1.5K/year. They pay about 20K per incidence. There is an age limit to coverage though, I think 70 for Thais. They also have accident insurance through Chubb which will cover the same things but with higher limits(like around 80K). I think it was around 6K/year when I was doing it for my wife. It is also possible to get policies just for cancer too. Thai insurance companies will want her to go to a hospital and get an examination and blood tests done before issuing the final policy. Their goal is to find as many preexisting conditions as possible. To limit what they cover. Also when you do have a claim they will ask for permission to check your records. Then if the doctor had asked your wife about previous problems and she gave information to the doctor the insurance company will add more exclusions or cancel the policy. They also ask you what medications you are taking and will do exclusions based on that. Like if you take any cholesterol or blood pressure medications they will exclude anything to do with heart attacks and strokes.
  8. Never tried those machines. I don't know about the 'clean' part. I guess it depends on how well they are maintained. Which in general seems to be a problem in Thailand. If there is a sugar free option I might give it a go to see how it tastes. I usually order iced latte with no sugar.
  9. Get a large property and try to keep it weed free.

  14. American breakfast with hot dogs instread of breakfast sausage.
  15. I retired at 55. Never looked back. Get up what time I want to. Don't have to ask for permission to take trips. Etc...
  16. One thing I noticed helping a friend recently is that they charge a higher fee for transfering in Thai baht. It first came up as a pound to euro transaction with a fee of 4 pounds. When I switched it to Thai baht the fee was a little over 7 pounds.

  19. I like the Pranburi area. Nice clean beaches. Quiet, slower area. Lot's of resorts right on the beach where you don't have to cross a road to get to the beach.
  20. I don't know of a department store in Ratchburi next to a jungle. It must be BigC though because it is close to the Mae Klong river.
  21. I had a Ford Focus but no one would steal it...
  22. I feel much safer here. Until I get in my car...
  23. About 10 years ago I saved a young girl that was drowning in a local reservoir. The guy that had brought the kids there never said thanks or anything to us. He just yelled at the girl. Probably felt like she had made him lose face.
  24. Did you order the breasts?
