  1. Video is from last night in Ratchaburi. Photos from a few days ago. Construction worker at our property was commenting about how foggy it was that morning. I was trying to explain to him it wasn't fog. You have to love sugarcane season. 20240213_192106.mp4
  2. A couple of things I noticed in the General Terms document. 1) Under the Accident extension package, item 5.4 it says "f the Insured is admitted to hospital as an in-patient for more than 48 hours as a result of an accident while staying abroad, we will pay to the amount stated in the schedule for each day of hospitalisation (from the 3 rd day inclusive) up to a maximum of 10 days" So you aren't covered for the first 2 days or after 10 days. 2) Article 8 Special exclusions, number 2. "deterioration of Pre-existing Medical Conditions or recurring illnesses;" So I would expect a lot of stuff to not be covered if they determine it is pre-existing even if not specifically excluded in advance.
  3. While IBIS does allow pets I don't know if they are exactly pet friendly. There isn't really any areas set aside for taking your dog out to potty. I did bring my dogs with me once to the Bangkok Riverside one. But having them do their thing by the pool didn't seem very nice to me. So after 1 night I drove back home and left them there for someone else to watch. If you look on sites like booking or agoda you can filter for pets allowed too.
  4. I've been with SCB for over 10 years. I haven't had any problems with their app. They only thing I can't do with the bank app that I could do with the online banking is transfer money into my fixed account.
  5. Why not find some good fitting ones at a mall store. They will cut them to length for you while you wait for free. Usually takes about 30 minutes.
  6. Lot's of businesses here claim the road in front of them as their property. The police allow them to do so. So while they do not own the road they are allowed to act as if it is their property.
  7. Last month when I did my extension my bank, SCB, only did a 3 month statement plus the letter. I thought maybe it was going to be a problem but immigration, Ratchaburi, took it without saying anything. I also had copies of all the pages in my bank book. They do demand to see an entry in the bank book for that day. So I deposit 1,000 baht each year when I do the bank letter.
  8. You should avoid artificial stuff too. There are some other natural sugars that are way better for you. Allulose is one but it is way more expensive than cane sugar. Same with monkfruit sugar.
  9. It isn't just sweets. The regular food contains a lot of sugar too. At our friends restaurant I saw them making Moo Krob one day. Before baking it they boiled it in a large vat of water. Before adding the pork belly they dumped in 5 bags of sugar into the water. Most restaurants also have sugar on the table to add to the food. I was checking out some fish sauce. A lot of it has sugar in it too. Around 2% sugar. I try and avoid sugar but I know when I eat out I am getting some.
  10. They did not. His extension expires this year, next month. His passport expires next year. When he extends this year they will only give him until the expiration date of his passport.
  11. I am currently having a house built. I do want solar. I would like to ultimately be basically off grid wth perhaps the PEA as a back up. I really don't have much of an idea how big of a system I would need for that. The house we live in now our consumption runs between 800-1500 units per month. But this is an old red brick house with no insulation at all. An interesting idea about using an EV as your battery backup. Also not too interested in selling power back to the grid as PEA limits you to 5Kwh for single phase. Also I saw Homepro now offers solar installation. They want about 780K baht for a 5kw system with 15kw battery backup. I'm guessing that is pretty expensive. Homepro Solar
  12. LOL. It shows the pole with no meter on it and just the bare wires hanging there. The incoming power lines wrapped with a little electrical tape. According to the bills he shows he was being charged about 25 baht/month for no power consumption.
  13. Did you have any warranties from your builder? But anyway general stuff like cracking is usually covered for just the first year.
  14. Too many people burning incense and it obscured his view.
  15. Thailand aims to become the hub of proclamations that never get enforced.

  20. I guess the police need funding for their upcoming Songkran party.
  21. OMG. The wife and I have been married over 40 years now. We(she) currently own 2 properties. I have never worried about her stabbing me behind my back. Not every Thai woman is out to get you. If you married a good woman she will have your back covered.
  22. I see some gold ships selling 18K jewelery. The ones I have seen it in called it 'Italian gold'
  23. You can look at the reviews on google maps for it. Mostly positive. But can you trust reviews in Thailand?
