  1. For gods sake extension of stay based on or marriage/retirement visa. At the end of the day does it really matter in the great scheme of things well think about it does it really make a two peneth worth of difference. Whatever its referred to the fact of the matter is in you passport it basically says you can stay for another year enjoy and stop bloody whining over a insignificant name and get a life farang

  2. Have you tried getting to know your neighbours first chatting to them without mentioning the noise then as you get to know them more mention as casual as you can about the noise situation maybe they are not aware or equal maybe they are noisy to drowned out there neighbours! !!!. As for the people posting here about money and if you can't afford to loose 9000bht they wonder why your on Thailand I wouldn't listen to them 9000bht is 9000bht and not throw away money as a lot of posters on here seem to think. Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves as my old gran used to say. We live in a money orientated society here most thai would love 9000 bht so if the posters who don't care about 9000bht could give that amount to a thai family it would make there month Food for thought maybe.

  3. Yeah it is a pity, with the scandinavians I mean... being one myself cant really see ourself socialize with english guys. Hahahahaha, You must really be in the dark my friend. My best friends here in Chaiyaphum are all english-spoken people like english, irish scottish and americans.... And if I like to give them a "miss" I will probably end up completely alone....

So lets hope that your "miss" will end up in something good in spite of that.

    Good luck

I was a joke my friend hence LOL at end

  4. I think, for me, that it is important that for the sake of good order, not to mix things up, that it is much better to learn and call stuff for what it is.....

Ignorance is never a good thing, and shouldn´t be encouraged in any way in life. It is better for the less knowledgeable to learn than for the vise to step a side...

There is always a reason that there is different words in a language, and if one doesn´t acknowledge that, than we have abig problem. Big law-firms do not know the correct wording, Immigration.officers do not know the correct wording.. Does THAT makes it right?

ps. For post number 2 - WRONG! When you come to Thailand you have bought a VISA, you than arrive and are given by the IO an permission to stay OR period to stay.

When this runs out, it is no longer a permission or period to stay, and the VISA are about to die with it... THAN it is time to apply for a extension of stay from that permission to stay.... OK....

THIS IS THE REASON why we should use the correct wording!!

I'm with the OP on this. I find it annoying when pedantic forum members try to correct people whenever they use the informal term.

I'm going to call it a "retirement visa" as long as I post on this forum. I've made one concession - I use parentheses so as not to upset the OCD crowd too much.

Using abbreviated and/or informal terminology is common in English. Get over it! Saying it's: "an extension of stay based on retirement" sounds awkward in most contexts. When people are discussing the mechanics of how to get a visa based on retirement that's different, but if someone asks me what visa I've got, it's a "retirement visa", end of story.

Then just call it a retirement extension, then everyone will know what you are talking about. Is that so much harder than "retirement visa"?

    Sophon

I made it quite clear what I call it. You are free to call it what you like. I doubt many people will be confused other than you and few others perhaps.

Put the claws away were all friends on here

  5. Hi all just moved into condo in khon kaen there for a few months whilst house is built in ban hin lad (please no oh don't do that or you'll get ripped off comments)

Reason for post is there any sort of Farang get together or meets of any kind in the area thanks in anticipation of a non thai woman bashing thread !!!!! Can always live in hope!!!LOL

  6. I'm here for life based on I want to be every year I have to pay to be able to stay for another year. Visa or extension based on or retirement or marriage who cares as long as my passport is duly stamped every year what it's called

No one does care, unless you ask for help on this forum. Then many readers, like me, read the replies and attempt to learn and better understand how the process works. When you ask a question on the forum it truly is no longer all about you.

I ask lots of questions and yes it can be informative but being predantic with an op for instance question on marriage visa first reply "there is no such thing" really helpful post second reply "you mean extension based on marriage" another really helpful reply we all know what is meant so in the words of a great film just answer the F****** question.

  7. Long disputed in UK that's why now there are signs saying park at your own risk in all private car parks in UK as far as I'm aware since I left the job it may well have changed mind and this example is UK. If there is an accident involving motor vehicles with no personal injury police will not get involved at all advise is always contact your insurances let them sort it and on my experience 99.9999999% of the time it comes back 50-50 regardless of who was to blame. Knock for knock as the Spanish would say. It is a very very grey area even when personal injury occurs it is still very hard to get any sort of conviction.

  8. All these same old same old topics. All the same old same old replies from NO I don't and why should I to yes I do as it's the Law of this country.

So the law is the law beats rumours and gossip beats I have never nor will I ever carry it. Easy decision you decide to carry it or not then if it's your decision then it's your consequences should you be fined or locked up.

Me I know what I'll do and that's my decision. Remember the Law is the Law and if you live in a country you abide by there Law not your thoughts on the Law.
