Hi, I’ve bought some Lactose free milk to try with my cereals. The package is white and has Essentially written on the top. It is low fat. It tastes nothing like real milk ( i drink it all the time in Europe as I’m avoiding suger).
Its a real beige colour too. Can’t read Thai so can anyone tell me why it isn’t like regular lactose free milk, and where can I get the normal one. Thanks.
I like the soja milks here but far too much suger in them.

Might be the machine . All sorts of gunge can build up. There’s products that completely clean a machine, don’t know the names in Thailand.Use at 60c on an empty machine, no pre wash. Use every few months. clean the filters too. Change your deodorant and buy natural cotton t shirts not the made in china/India rubbish.

Im in Jomtien beach area, rarely go to “ town”. Sneezing a lot, and runny nose, I have to sleep up on two pillows or it doesn’t stop aa night.

Twice I’ve had drunk drivers in Phuket, and a third that picking me up at my hotel could hardly walk to reception ! Of course didn’t get in that car. Another threw me out on the way into Patong as there was traffic. Lots of times been quoted 1000 B to get home to Kata beach from Patong. Also witnessed taxi drivers attacking a tourists car and the driver because he dared park near the town hall in Kata. There were children in the car and the scene was terrifying. Where he parked was not a taxi stand. This , all on Phuket, and why I eventually moved away for good.

What are they doing to the beach in Pattaya, all boarded up along the front and machines on the sand ? Not that I want to go there mind , just wondering.

Hi all, I entered Thailand on visa exempt the 1 st of December, and wish to ask for an extension of stay in Jomtien . As I’m spending Christmas week in Bangkok, will Jomtien immigration give me my extension on the Thursday 20th or Friday 21 , which will be a bit in advance as I need to leave on the Monday 24 th morning early. Thanks.
I have my notification of address slip.

maccie90, don’t tempt fate ! Just go to a different part of Thailand where she will not find you.

Hi all, have booked to go to Myanmar January. After a nice ( I hope) beach holiday, i want to go to the Thai embassy in Yangon to get a visa. My first there. History , I don’t do border hops, have only one extension. Is it easily done there ?
I plan on going to the embassy early Monday 4 th February, pick up the next day Tuesday, and my flight back to Bangkok is 10.30 am Wednesday. Does this sound ok ? This is what happens in most embassy’s in neighbouring countries , but on the embassy page , I read that one was advised to apply 5/ 10 days before travel ! Obviously a bit difficult .
Will this be doable , I don’t want to come back into Thailand without a visa. Thanks.

madmen, did I say that Vietnam was amazing ? Sorry , the rest I didn’t quite understand, “ swim to it, fly there” ? Is Thailand the only place in the world for you ? This post was about possibilities, and Vietnam is definately not a dump, and does have great food.
Maybe you didn’t like it, you’re not everyone ! No offense.

roger101, hi, I’ve been a few times to Vietnam, why not try it . Lots of plus points, easier to get to than Philippines, a bit safer, much better food, delicious in fact. The Vietnamese are lovely people lots of things to do there, lots of gorgeous places to visit. You could do a trip there if you haven’t been, see what you think. I’ve heard that rent is cheaper than here, and food is definitely cheaper. Beer too ,if you drink. Look at it this way, if you didn’t like it, you could always come back to Thailand or elsewhere. Where do you live in Thailand ? Have you thought of moving to a cheaper area and wait and see what the near future brings concerning paperwork ?
Good luck.

I imagine that seeing that France and Britain have been mentioned it will be normal tourist visas. Also being that they do not use VOA. Why shouldn’t this work, two consulats have already closed in France, making it virtually impossible to get a visa without an appointment. For me it would have meant a flight and two nights in Paris. I think they’ll be fazing out all the consulats, which cost a lot of money to run. If Myanmar , Cambodia and Vietnam can do it , I’m quite sure Thailand can. I for one will be very happy.

Apart from the bad exchange rate, it’s the kamikaze drivers that frighten “ normal” tourists away. While in Europe the road rules are getting stricter and speed limits lower, it’s all hell let loose on Thailand’s roads and nobody does an intelligent thing about it ! Families with children don’t go to a country that is known everywhere as being dangerous.

Most Europeans know all about Thailand. They came here in the good days when the beaches and water were clean and prices much much lower. There wasn’t a lot of competition for beach holidays then. They won’t come back.

It is not a question of gender ! No one should be slapped for doing their job . I would have dragged him to court.

Hi all, I’ll be going to Myanmar in January so will need a visa. I know there is a evisa. I don’t have a computer , ( only iPad) and I’m also not sure I would know how to download the photo. I can always go to the consul in Bangok but I’d rather avoid a second 2/3 day stay there as I’m already spending Xmas holidays there when the consulat will be closed. My question is, are there respectable visa agents in Pattaya that can do this for me ? Are they safe and legal ? Thanks.

It’s not only problems at the borders. Certain embassies are refusing SETV visas only because the return flight date is over their limit. How stupid is that. And a loss of earnings for the Thai government in visa fees. You can show huge bank accounts, have tickets out of the country, and they still refuse your visa! Ridiculous.

Fanjita, hi, i don’t think you understood my post.
What I meant was that I hope that they accept a reservation for one guest, meaning me alone. I have often found in the past that some restaurants avoid taking reservations for people dining alone. I want only one Christmas dinner, not eat all day.

Looks wonderful, I’m hoping to be able to reserve for one guest ?

I would choose
voluntary return under international supervision.

Seems sure that with the current exchange rates there won’t be a lot of sales. How on earth do they manage the thousands of condos laying empty ?Of course, lackof a good visa for people staying longer than a month or two doesn’t help.

Back to my first post above, i was told, you are not a tourist, tourists stay 2/3 weeks. So what am I ? I think I’ve heard the description “ snowbirds”. The larger percentage of people over 50, fill up the condos all over Thailand ( anyone have an idea approx?)
This , plus a healthy bank balance allows quite an input into Thai society/ economics. Just imagine if all the foreigners renting suddenly disappeared ? The visa system needs to be completely reviewed and the difference between backpackers, families , short stay, long stay and “snowbirds” taken into consideration. Changing the rules and visas everyone Year helps no one. Just look at the huge queues at immigration offices.
