i am starting to miss democracy already.

to all the army lovers out there. if you corner an animal and make it believe it is going to die then it will fight for its life. the red party is cornered, and for now democracy looks like it is about to die. i am in no way endorsing these horrible bombings by the way. democracy does not work very well but it is better than what is happening now.

yea no one likes a grammar nazi. a tactic generally used by people as a diversionary tactic when they are loosing an argument. capitalization is so 2008. 

weed is far safer than alcohol and no worse than nicotine. not my cup of tea but i get angry at all my taxpayer money in nz going to try to remove the plants, prosecute the growers/users. waste the courts time and fill up the jails.  

would like to see trump win but have been a bit disappointed with some of the ways he has handled some things. saying he might loose also might spur a few more undecided votes to go his way. often people in elections say it is going to be close to try to get all of their supporters to vote, and that is what trump might be doing now.

cant blame them for not voting. voting would either be rigged or would just end up with another referendum written by the same people.

i am staying in esan and there are a few westerners around but it seems they all avoid each other like the plague. though it would be different up here. i get tired of talking to other expats as everyone seems to have the same stories in pattaya so i generally just stick to talking to my own social group. bit lacking in conversation up here so i am having to spend more time on thai visa.

problem is almost anything related to the food industry is reserved as thai occupations. even if you could find something not reserved you need to budget around 150 000 for work permit and associated expenses. hard to compete with thais who do not have to pay those expenses. i would say dont ruin your life in thailand by working here.

whole system is rotten. defamation even when it is the truth. how can crimes be reported and punished if everyone is to scared to say anything? thais have learnt to just keep their mouth shut and hope for the best, alot of us foreigners do the same. criminals go about their business knowing everyone will look the other way and not open their mouths for fear of reprisal.

cops and bank did not seem to bothered by it. just a bit of paperwork and thrown in the 'too hard' basket. suppose 7000aud was not alot of money compared to other amounts going missing.

i just posted the other day that the army has taken total control and left the reds with basically no options. the wealthy minority now rule the majority. this is just the start and i cant see the army ever giving up power which will mean the next cycle is going to last a very long time.

perhaps they should have held the census over a week or a month rather than get everyone logging on in a short time frame. wonder what proportion of the general public actually participates. i have an aussie passport and i did not even know it was on. they could just get the info from the drivers licence records. majority of aussies drive.

only good thing about the coming years of army rule is that ying luck will be held accountable for her governments rice scam losses. i predict she will be leaving the country to go visit her brother for an extended visit before the next elections. she sure has had enough time to get some of her money out of the country. 

seems to sell news papers and get people clicking on multi media. also an effective distraction from more local issues.

never know what to believe is true or not true about north korea. some one can play chinese whispers and next thing you know it is reported in the main stream media. all good entertainment i suppose.

better learn to treat them better. alot of bars on walking street wont let them in as they take up seats and dont buy drinks.

helping the poor into their own homes is what cause the american housing bubble and 2008 melt down. freddy mack and fanny may were set up to help poor people into their own homes with little or no deposit. this drove up prices and created a bubble. when it burst most low income earners and many middle income earners lost their homes. government needs to stay out of the housing market.

easy to spout off some big numbers and say everything is ok. effectively this is stimulus spending and is what america and many other countries are doing to prop up their failing economies. of course i can give a poor person money and until they spend or loose that money they are no longer poor.

she is expecting to have to pay her way out of this and is now claiming to be poor and not able to pay a very much. wonder if yingluck will try this one if she has to pay for the rice scam losses.
