  1. Why would you leave the country just because your 90 days using a Non O will expire?? It is a lot easier and cheaper to just extend the Non O for another year if based on marriage, work, or retirement while in the country.

Leaving will only make a hassle and a sh_tload of paperwork if you plan to get another Non O.

i got my last 1 year non O while i was in nz. went to jomtien immigration 90 days after i got back to thailand. they said i needed to do a boarder run so i did and had to pay the 1 day overstay. not a big deal but no idea why i could not do 90 reporting at immigration in jomtien. was about 4 weeks ago.

  2. " how did you get thai citizenship?"

"by the way none of us here actually live here. we are guests who stay temporary on year by year visas ."

does any one here know what is in this referendum? i have asked a couple times and no one seems to have any idea so i guess thats how much any one cares about it. by the way none of us here actually live here. we are guests who stay temporary on year by year visas .

again i would be interested if any one does actually know what is in the referendum. wonder if any thais even know.

Wrong. I LIVE here. My family is here, my house is here, my car is here, I pay taxes here etc. so don't tell me I'm merely a guest!

wow me too. 9 years i have had my business, 2 half thai kids, owned several properties, paid more tax than the majority of thais. every year have to renew my one year visa. they let me stay on a year by year basis at their discretion. how did you get thai citizenship?

I didn't, and I don't need one to live here. I've lived here for 23 years. If you had a friend coming to stay with you and he stayed for 23 years (or 5, 10, 15) would you still consider him a guest or one that lived in your house?

i would consider him a tenant, and he better pay his rent on time or i would kick him out no matter how long he stayed with me.

  3. If I had a crystal ball I could tell you how many people will vote for the new constitution and how many against.....but do you want to know? And does it matter to farang?

Are you asking if farang should care about the kind of government misruling the country they live in?

  4. williamgeorgeallen:

See http://www.un.or.th/2016-thailand-draft-constitution-english-translation/ for unofficial English translation from UN Thailand.

Thai version can be found on the Election Commission's web page along with details (in Thai) about the voting process - http://www.ect.go.th/th/?page_id=8583

thanks. gave it a bit of a look. 137 pages. not sure if there are any nasties hidden in there. has been re written so many times. wonder if it will achieve anything.

  6. Whether her story is true or not don't let your feet fail you now....exit. First, if she is telling the truth your life with her would be one of hiding and running and always looking over your shoulder. If she is fabricating the whole thing for whatever reason she may have, is that the lady you want to be with? But you know this or you wouldn't have posted this question in the forum. You just want to hear others say you should exit.

There are tens of thousands of other lovely Thai ladies who don't have a mafia boyfriend and who don't fabricate stories as great as this. Unless you are MI5 and licensed to kill....get away. At 25 you are still a very young man and possibly a bit naive.

and dont forget there are tens of thousands of girls out here who will say anything to get their hands on your cash. i dont understand why any guy under 40 would be in a relationship and even then life is best single unless you want kids. life is so much better single, especially in thailand.

  7. western guys love to believe anything that comes out of thai girls mouths. this is quite a story. who knows, it may even be true, there is a tiny chance but who cares because if you know whats good for you you will pack your bags and leave without saying good bye. you are asking for trouble staying in this situation, or maybe it is just all lies and everything will be ok.

  8. This is unbelievable !! 2000baht fine, is a joke.

Public indecency to say the least, as i posted before they should be jailed.

Jailed then deported banned from returning.

Just another case of crazy Thai justice.

if thais can run down innocent civilians and innocent (?) policemen without going to jail then it would be unfair to send these two to jail. after all no one got kill, or even hurt. problem was the act got caught on camera, tarnishing thailands squeaky clean image. both perpetrators have waied and paid a fine the equivalent of several hard days work. we all enjoyed reading about it (or getting upset about it as some of us do) no further harm done as there are no real victims. now excited to wonder what will be next.

  9. ALL expats need and exit plan, or Plan B, for Thailand.

We all have no right to be here, except for a little sticker in our passports.

agree with you. dont become grounded here. we are visitors. keep life simple. if you have kids and there are some problems first step is getting sole custody. dont buy anything you arent prepared to walk away from. things can go very bad here very quickly and our guest privileges can be revoked. seems this guy has had a number of years to sort this out.i am preparing to leave thailand, selling property, pickup and a business takes a long time and i am glad to not be doing it under duress.

  10. it is just a plan at this stage. just like the plan to get all the tourist police speaking english in 6 months there is a fair chance it will fall through. it is potential good news however so need to get it out there. hope the bosses at Bavarian motor works know how to deal with army types. probably still going to be around next year.

OMG you really think BMN execs toss a coin and hope for the best ?

had not put much thought into if they were tossers or not. was actually just an attempt at a joke referencing the last 2 world wars. ironically this would probably be lost on most germans as they are consistently voted the voted the least funny in the world.

  11. ah the police

where you can buy your promotion

and nobody asking where all that money is coming from, on a small government salary

where the police never goes to jail even caught with both hands in the cookie jar

When you test to find a rotten egg you put them in a bowl of water and the rotten ones float.

If all the police in LOS were told to jump into the ocean the ones that sank to the bottom and died would be good ones and the ones floundering on the surface would be rotten.

probably not a good test. thais are not good swimmers. you would have all the cops, good and bad, going to the bottom and no one left to collect the fines.

  12. what do u expec t ????? th is third world...and in most societys the most dumb and violent become cops so the represent the force of state and they happily exercise this power and when the state dont pay them well like sure in thailand u have to pay the cops simple as that ask urself what u would do under same circumstances sure is wrong but the world is the world and not the heavens as always created by the moral and mental vibrations of the beeings that inhabitate the place

What a croc of semi intelligible <deleted>... Did you give any thought before you wasted your opinion?

As ordinary tax paying individuals we have a right to expect a decent and honourable Police force that should uphold the laws and the values of society... That's why we have laws ...

Not endorse the "kudos" attached to the self important selfish B'stards that break those laws and "value" those that take the biggest slice of the pie...!

If you can't be bothered to "vote"... You end up with the Police force that you deserve...

very few of us pay tax other than VAT when we buy stuff. basically none of us can vote. police force was derived from the more powerful mafias in thailand over 100 years and given a very small operating budget. cops make their money from policing crime, becomes a very fine line between collecting fines and extortion. police force is what it is. has not even changed with a military government in power sorting everything out. not going to change regardless.

I think they have a pretty good idea on how to deal with army types, don't you?

i thought they lost both times.
