You haven't noticed the higher prevalence of drug and alcohol problems? Teenage delinquency, gang violence, domestic abuse and neglect, gambling problems, drunk driving, and so on? Not to mention, teenage prostitution and young pregnancy? General family dysfunction; most kids not even being raised by their mother or father, rather a grandparent or great auntie, who generally raises all the extended family's children (kind of like an orphanage) You don't need to rely on your own observations of the last two decades of living there, many of these problems are more prevalent low socio-economic areas all over the world, as a matter of fact, actually.

Look at the setting; they pretty much live in the jungle. Having spent time living in rural Thailand I can tell you, it ain't safe and there's a very high proportion of dysfunctional people. Full of typical problems in a low socio-economic place. Anyone who is thinking of moving to the boonies to stay on your teerak's village, I suggest you think twice. It looks nice, but that's all.

I think the idea here is that teenagers do dumb things due to the prefrontal cortex not being fully developed till 24. Older than that, you are old enough to know better.

In most countries the ambulance has a signal that will cause the lights to go red on the other sides to avoid accidents like this. Here, obviously not, the other vehicle had the green light and therefore right of way. To be fair, the boys got zero sex education when I was at school. Oddly, the girls got it, including condom of banana practice. We just got a free period with our strange French teacher who allowed us to ask him random questions about sex.

Yeah, it's probably something like, 60% (plus) gay male, 20% straight female, and 10% straight male, and then the last few percent non-sexual transmission. It is interesting though that 50% of transmissions are in teens and young adults, though I am pretty sure this has always been the case and is not anything new.
