Prime Minister in Tears Over Tragic Bangkok School Bus Fire
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
more than harsh...just like her, I have a couple of youngsters, though no where near as young as those students - closer to the teachers probably in age - but even at 77 years of age, I could only imagine the feeling of the parents of these kids. My Thai wife has alway s forbid our daughter to ride those tour buses for school trip - so instead she flew with the other 1-3 students whose parents felt the same to where ever the class was going. 54 year buses that have been in use on these roads and drivers. After the police investigation of this particular bus - from inside the bus by the concentration of bodies by the emergency doors but unable to open them - should have been automatic or easy to open from inside or outside but the driver couldn't seem to get the fire extinguisher going so he just fled the scene, I feel for those parents and other kids. -
checked woth BOI and it appeares that PDF is their desired uploads.. I didn't do a background check but if you are not in Thailand then maybe that is the difference. The BOI as I mentioned is easy to work with, if any questions once you begin the process, call or email they will help you quickly...like I said, start to finish only 2 weeks. good luck

I retired on a retirement O 20 years ago...I never thought about taxes but then I read all about the LTR - it seemed to fit me perfectly as a wealthy pensioner. One can easily do the required paperwork from one's own computer, don't have to collect anything from a local office except download form for the application. BOI is super helpful if any problems and keeps one informed as to exactly what is needed. As an American, I provided my 1040R last two years for income verification, got a letter from my US health insurance company saying that I was provided at least USD$50K for hospitalizaton if needed and included starting an ending date, copies made on my printer of passport and visa information already have had. Download documents to BOI. Within 2 weeks I had my passport stamped. Now feel comfortable that no more 90-day reports, in and out of the country at ease, special entry line, etc. I also did an updated TM 30 just to be sure and 90-day report was good too. At the BOI, when I got my p/p stamped, they have an immigration office there too that cancels the retirement O visa. Now if I do not leave the country for the 1-year period, then I will just go to the BOI or have anyone check me in or if I leave the country, then the 1-year check in period resets. All qualifications of course like any Thai visa must be maintained during the period of the visa and at the 5-year anniversary, a renewal of all the data must still meet the necessary qualifications. Currently only the LTR has any tax exemption on foreign-earned income remitted. Like have mentioned as others too have mentioned, the BOI is very helpful. They communicate on line or via the telephone and speak excellent English. Good luck. If you have any specific question do not hesitate to ask me. I am a fan of this visa.

Bank of Thailand Intervenes to Manage Baht's Exchange Rate
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
dollar we knowis weaker - they just dropped the interest rate by 50 points and thus other banks either lower their interest rate or their currenciy i therefore stronger due to the dropping of the dollar interest rate. -

Bank of Thailand Intervenes to Manage Baht's Exchange Rate
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, how did she get that position? I would think that with several different PM's fighting her about the interest rate and the economy just about going over the cliff with more local flooding daily impacting businesses, she would relent except, then I remember TIT and no logic is ever included in any action here.- 145 replies

Frozen in time: British expats losing out on pensions in Thailand
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Totally agree! As an American, ex service plus ex civil service I can finally be amazed at how much pension I get and when I read about what the UK government does to its civil servants, I am shocked at first then also like those being short changed, then agree totally expecially when so much is given to so many that don't deserve it nor did they ever earn it as these short-changed people did so. Maybe eventually the govt will wake up! but I doubt it! -
Nope, never. We always leave any rental in at least as good as if not better than that it was when we moved in. I have also seen too many "after" videos in which the landlords complained and agree that no refund was due yet amazing that so many that did leave the rental in horrible condition demand the refund.

Nah, I think that next week he will be selling "TRUMP" property for 500K USD for the MADAites!
-
Yessiree! Time the parties led by the rich and powerful stop putting up candidates that are mostly useless for the country and its citizens. Just like Trump promising to lower even further taxes for the ultrarich. Dems aren't any better either. Neither candidate in my opinion is worthy nor qualified to be President of the USA.

Destination Thailand Visa Sparks Interest, Faces Future Hurdles
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
by definition of the Thai Revenu Department, if they stay 180 days or more in a calendar year, they are tax-residents and I have seen nothing about them being exempt as in the LTR. Therefore, I would think that the RD will want their taxes but TIT so who really knows anything about anything here. -
Thailand’s Business Ease Ranking Plummets in Asia-Pacific: Survey
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The thai leaders probably think it means that they should try to increase the value of he baht since there will be fewer buyers and they need to therefore increase the price and value of the baht to make more money - typical thai business thinking. Just like the foremer RM and current pm trying to get the head of the bank to lower the interest rate but he feels it makes the baht stronger to keep the same interest rate while other govts are lowering theirs. Just because itis causing business losses due to that interest rate, he doesn't care. -
Yes I recently have read about the declining birthrates in many countries, (i.e. thailand, S. Korea, Japan, etc) and the sociologists opine that much of this has been caused by the UN's programs on female equality and push for them to be more independent since the late 1900's. It has worked! Women are firmly entrenched in the workforce of many countries, like the idea of some independence from male authority and equal in earning capability. As such, after the pandemic caused shutdowns around the world, economies are suffering. Women don't want to be burdened with a child or children to care for, men sure don't want that responsibility lashed onto their backs, so marriage is now alien to those younger generations as they both men and women struggle to find a job just to survive so no kids, no marriages and soon, other countries will be like Japan - having to call retirees back to work just to keep businesses open. Is easier divorce a solution? I don't think so but I am old and think old fashiion wise but I haven't ever thought about divorce as I am happy.

I guess after the 100K Trump watch he will now have a new sale on his "cologne".

The number of "bad" foods would take as many pages as this forum gets on tax issues but is at least factual. The best place if one does read and comprehend ENGLISH text are the two diet books of Dr. William Li a Harvard heart specialist, researcher and other titles. These two best sellers can be found in a Bangkok boodstore. Seed oils are among the bad foods. Subce huis bviijs cane out as best sellers, there are also You tube videos of various good and bad diet practices. The only valid ones IMHO are those that also give the user laboratory analysis and testing that proves the good or bad. best of luck as "good" food can also taste great. To see the results of "bad" diet, google US disease rates caused by fake "nutritious foods" with artificial coloring and tastes while the real food is nutritious.

Yoy mean negotiating like Trump did with the Taliban in Afghanistan....yessir now they are back to the stone age, women lower than whale s^&%, no school whatsoever for females, women have to cover their faces whenever outside and it is against the law for a woman to make eye contact with any male other than her husband. Yessir greatest negotiator. Then of course the transfer of power to the Taliban was orchestrated by another draft dodger that showed some real stupidity too. Just how dd we manage to strangle ourselves with O, Trump and Biden? Losers for sure.

Is it safe to wear a Rolex around Bangkok??
Presnock replied to Mekmong MICK's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Right now probably okay as they will shortly have the fake Trump watches out...Rolex has always been the top fakes here so unless you stay at the very top hotels and dress in expensive wear, as someone else mentioned, the bad guys will think yours is a fake too. -
With all the saber rattling today, hard to argue that point with you. But saber rattling has been going on for at least my entire life,.,Hopefully saner people will replace the leaders of today.

well if the majority of foods sold in restaurants and grocery stores is any example of what is someone's basic eating habit, then maybe you should check the statistics of bad health around the world. Go to any store - look a any "packaged" food - check the label and look at the ingredients - half the words are not English, fake colors, fake tastes - these are mostly poisons. glucose is a known feeder of cancer cells, sugar and starches are turned into glucose which feeds the cancer cells in one's body. Cancer cells form as the body replaces itself regularly and a cell that doesn't change exactly can easily become a cancer cell. People need to be more aware of what they are eating, drinking, smoking and lazy lifestyle which all if done badly lead to disease and poor health. SInce it is up to the individual to change to a better lifestyle, yeah too many people blame it on something else. Best to get on the health kick the younger the better for a healthy older life unless of course you want to booze it up, smoke it up, laze it up - then you shall reap what you sow. Cancers based on genetics are single digit - now the researchers have proven that diet and lifestyle contribute more to the worse diseases in people. But, don't change anything based on what I have mentioned, do a little research for yourself... it can save you money and years. Doctors and hospitals don't seem to be getting any cheaper... today the figures for US health insurance increases for the next year...still zooming. I personally have great health insurance for me and my family - I have in 77 years have not had to use that insurance. I have exercised my entire life, avoided booze and smoking and have changed my diet as I learn about dangerous foods. Fortunately I am in Thailand, land of untold number of fruits veggies, etc and having read about foods and disease, I have talilored my diet to almost all healthy foods. to each his own. Best of luck to all.

That is because of Xi, Putin, Little Rocket Man, Iranian head, they have been saying for years that they are preparing for war with the west, Putin wants to restore the countries of the Soviet Union, I wants Taiwan which has never been under communism rule, Little Rocket man wants to take over S. Korea, Iran wants to destroy Israel - the only thing holding either of them from striking is the US and its allies . However, now the allies are fracturing somewhat with too many internal problems. Meanwhile the weather will probably destroy all of us as it continues to change for the worse.

Thailand aims to eradicate poverty in two years
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Also while mentioniong western countries, one should remember that they have never been able to eradicate poverty either! Just keep throwing free money or benefits at them doesn't work! -
This is exactly what KH showed in their debate and he should have scored heavily against her except she was well aware prior to the debate that all she had to do was critize him about anything and he would start ranting and raving and gaining no points against her.
