Thailand May Ease Overseas Income Tax Rules Amid Global Changes
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
obviously that person doesn't have an LTR or was turned down by the BOI. For me and some others at least, the LTR is by far the best visa for me. My pension can't be taxed by the Thais so that was not the issue, the issue was a tad cheaper in the long run with no 90-day reports, in and out of the coutry unlimited and free, yearly reports can also be fewer as out of country and return starts the 1-year wait for next BOI /immigration visit plus whizz through the airport upon return. -

How about they require you to provide proof that the savings only prior to 1 January 2024 were remitted during the year? -

they go to check to see if they have to pay tax and although the RD ignores their DTA, they still end up paying but because they feel that "it wasn't that much" so they paid it even though they didn't really owe it! That is what I feel is not really smart but their money, not mine! -

well, if the foreign banks are signers of the OECD, CRS or FATCA then I guess they would be reporting to the Thai rd about Thai persons in that country that have bank accounts and even with minimum amounts, would mean the Thais could tax them. I of course have no idea about them in reality. Just so we aren't impacted too harshly. -
jsut be careful about the chocolate - I stick now to the 85% as it appears that the soils from which the cacao plants are farmed are high in heavy metals and dark chocolate therefore too has those heavy metals - the more dark chocolate the more heavy metals - in the books very clear. Your weight can be dropped by eating the foods researched by Dr Li for sure. Lots of help along that way and the quicker the better to eat healthier. I was amazed as I have always thought that I ate healthy - and of course I exercise 90 min to 2 hours daily so burn a ton of calories. I used to run until I turned 65 and worried about potential knee problems since the only place to run outdoors is on roads or sidewalks - too firm - now I do 6km walks every day - did outdoors at first early AM 3) until I ran across a 4 meter Burmese python so mife made me switch to PM walks but last year in BKK every late afternoon/evening there were thunderstorms so no walks so now I do aerobic walks of 6 km every evening plus 2-3 AM's of weight lifting (light weights only) and on days of no lifts, 1 hour of core exercises to keep my waist trim. Feel super every day and wake up every morning with no pains!

Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries
Presnock replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Having first hand experience with he basic English instructing in elementary schools, I am not surprised in the least. My first daughter now 55 years old went to ISB first and 2nd grade and struggled a tad with her aThai teacher recommending us to either have another child immediately or get her a pet dog. Fortunately, 2nd half of 2nd grade and on up was in Internnational schools in Spain, Philippines, Calf, and Italy where she graduated with honors. Current daughter, graduated from CM internaional school with native English, Thai, 5 years of Chinese and Korean self taught to highest level acheivable in the international Korean govt testing. So proper English (though British spellings) is available but one has to be well aware of what is being taught. -
Well now in BKK if one has a pet dog, it must be registered and chipped. Started within the past year. I live in Prawet district and within a month of the announcement about the registrations of dogs (within the next year I think) there was an advisory by the govt of a rabies infected wild cat I think in this area and advised any pet owners that allowed their pets to roam outside should be aware of the rabies outbreak.

Well, if you have not read Dr. William Li's two books on food research - he is a Harvard super respective heart specialist and now food researcher - his books both called diet books are really not a typical diet planning but research on hundreds of regular foods that prevent and in some cases cure the 5 major killers of mankind. He says by going through the various foods, anyone can find many foods that they like, can determine and possible health risks male or female, ages, etc and can then change eating habits. I thought that at 77 years of age, having lost just about all I needed to, that anymore would be impossible but I did change my eating habits (a 5-hour window of 2 meals and 19 hours of fast) no hunger pangs, plenty of excess energy and now at 78 and really health plus lost another 6 pounds total -almost all off my waist area. Now back to my post military service (VN days) sizes. Enjoying food much more so and never feel bloated,. Eat lots of fish and chicken plus 2 cups of black coffee no sugar, 2 cups of green tea spiced with ginger every day plus drinking water. Since my father's side of the family all the males had prostate problems including deaths long before my 77 years so I also concentrate on red- veggies and fruits keeping my PSA below 1. Anyway, I recommend if one concerns oneself with eating healthier, to get Dr. Li's books (locally available for sure at KINOKUNIYA bookstore in the SIAM centers area. Never too old to change eating habits for better health - even on Youtube there are some of Dr. Li's research - which in his books the report of the research is provided for all foods tested, so not just taking his word for it. Good luck and great health!

good for the extra protein and probiotics too. I add tons of all kinds of fruit (even those with high sugar content as the fiber lowers and problem) nuts, seeds, herbs, Greel style yougut, Thailand is wonderful in variety of fruits.

CM immigration told me that my bank account could not be joint (was with my Thai wife and that I had to have a sole account only no joint. Just saying, as I didn't argue as it made the FBAR much easier and quicker.

Only place I've found it is at Tops - WAITROSE & Partners, Says Duchy ORGANIC Scottish Jumbo Whole Rolled oats. I have been an oats eater for decades. Have heard negative stories but read from researchersand happy with my eating habits. I prepare the oats (6 tablespoons) soaked in Almond or Walnut milk for 24 hours, put in 2 tablespoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar to cut the acid from the oats. I did steel-cut oats for a couple of years but cost per benefit made the rolled oats a better choice. I note also that Tops drops the price regularly about 50 baht a box but they do run out just about every month. when they drop the price I buy a couple of boxes as they an sit in my house just as easy as waiting to be sold in the store.

yeah, looks like she might agree with you but looking at her, am sure some sugar daddies are lining up....seems like these ultra rich loud guys always have some beauty on their arms and then we later here how horrible their lives were but then another beauty moves into the mansions. Just like first lady...started the same way.

organic rolled oats from UK are pretty cheap here too, especially compared to other rolled oats non organic.

We note regularly Sunni and <deleted>e bombing/killing each other. Islam supposedly founded in 600 AD century, and after he died, the two different sides couldn't accept one or the other as the Muslim religious leader so they have been at war a long time. I read not too long ago that the fastest growing religion today is ISLAM, and fail to understand why Christianity which claims to be a peace loving religion loses out in growth by a radicallized for most of the Muslims I have met in their own nations. Now they are pouring into the west., not assimilating into the western culture but now massing together a a voting bloc so that they can elect one of their own to the local electorate and then begin trying to establish Sharia law as opposd to the western workd. I also fail to understand that after living as slaves for millenia, female Muslims still do not overthrow those radicalized males. Perfect example - supposedly Iran recognizes several different religions but especiall sunni Islam. When they overthrew the Shah in 1979, women had total freedom, free education through professional status, dressed western style clothes, etc . Yeah the SHAH was no freedom for all type and really horrible for quite some time but then moderated somewhat in his treatment of the citizens so I understand why they overthrew his leadership but why, like Afghanistan, the females accepted returning to slavery of the Stone Age.

yes, sad but after 30+ years here, IMHO that is too true!

On this forum alone, there have been several tax agencies offering their services. Can easily contact and find out about charges. Though from what I have read, one can take their finance paperwork to a local revenue dept office and they will fillin the forms for you or advise you about your assessable income,. Unless one's financial situationis very compolicated, I would think it should be easy and if complicated, then yes, contact one of the local tax agencies such as "expattaxthailand.com" Carl has provided me with info previously and they offer a 15-minute free consultation on one's taxes. Good luck.

even worse, we read regularly on this forum, news items where pet dogs suddenly attack their owner and sometime fatally. Certain breeds IMHO as a dog owner for over 70 years, should be ourlawed as they were originally bred as fighting dogs. I realize too that some people have these same breeds the entire life of the dog and only good stories to tell of them but it seems that at least in Thailand pitbull partials or pure breeds can turn vicious without warning. Soi dogs should be sterilized by the govt and all pet owners should be required to register their dogs with a chip and then stray dog owners can be discovered through the chip if the dog was abandoned and then the owner fined for abandoning the dog.

for anyone wanting to lose weight, after I had figured I wouldn't lose anymore weight, I read Dr. William Li/s books on diet to beat disease and diet to beat your diet - these are not normal DIET books per se. He researches foods for prevention and curing or diesease. uiHe expains why it is difficult to lose weight because we eat the wrong foods. I changed my diet, eating only those foods that are healthy. At the same time, I eat during one 5 hour period a day and fast the other 19 hours. I eat a ton of fruits with my oatmeal, and greek style probiotic yougurt, a total waste if lo-cal or lo-fat so the greek style yogurt also has more protein, drink 2 cups of coffee a day 2 cups of green tea with ginger, no sugary drinks or diet drinks, seeds, nuts, turmeric, black pepper, chili pepper, sesame seeds, chia seed, sunflower seeds no red meats mostly salmon sea bass or chicken with steamed or lightly sauteed in extra virgin olive oil and exercise 1to 2hours per day (6 km daily walking, 1 hour core when no weights and 1.5 hours weigts 2-3 times a week) and I lost that final 6 pounds.. I never snack, any bread is sour dough only but not too often and some hard cheeses. With my cereal I also throw in a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste - the weigth loss was as I am 78 years old

Same thing happened in 2016, Trump won not because the people really liked him, but that they hated Hillary, this time they hated the Democratic team of Biden and Co. (Kamala), IMHO had the Dems chose a moderate poliician, then that person would have beat Trump. I sure wouldn't vote for Trump, and didn't in either election but I would never vote for a Democrat due to their policies either.
