  1. I generally don't bother with the gold 25 and 50 satang coins and either give them back to the cashier or toss them away.

...any temple would greatly appreciate the coins..or even poor folk in the street.

    That's why I toss them ?

l've seen a jar near the cash register for loose Satangs that was being collected for the Rice Farmers.

  2. Never get drunk when you're on Anti-biotics.

l stupidly did once and had a similar experience to the OP.

Only it was coming out of both ends.!

ln fact a doctor told me that if l hadn't of thrown up, l would have been dead.

The next day, the whites of my eyes turned yellow & the blood vessels in them were prominent.

You learn life's lessons the hard way(l do anyway!).

  3. I can't believe people don't wash with soap

And water all their vegetable and especially

Fruits with a skin. I have seen people cut a

    Watermellon without washing it....all the

    Pesticide contamination goes directly to

The fruit unless The outer skin is washed!!

l read that the skin of Rockmelon(Cantaloupe) is often covered with Salmonella bacteria.

As you say, if you cut without cleaning the skin, the bacteria then enter the flesh.

l use a scrubbing brush with soap on any Rockmelon that l cut up.

Plentiful rinsing with fresh water, after cleaning.

  4. Officials should have done their job and back burned fuel from past seasons ,

you obviously have no concept of the type and size of forests this fire is located in! ths isnt some "bush" fire pal, its a full blown FOREST fire.and this forest stretches for 5500 km! big difference

No of course coming from Australia we classify a bbq as a bush fire,

bush is the defining word. canada has TREES.

lts called the "bush", but its comprised of trees & bushes & grass etc.

The trees down the bottom of WA are the second highest in the world after the Californian Redwoods.

The gum trees of Victoria are very large also, thicker than Canadian pine trees.

They are also chock full of flammable eucalyptus oil.

When we are allowed to backburn or doze firebreaks, we can control "bush"fires.

Shirtless is right, pal, the Canadian authorities should have at least constructed firebreaks.

  5. It continues to astonish me, that most Thais cannot see the beauty in dark skin. They are so hypnotized by TV, film, and the media, that they cannot see their own beauty, nor the beauty of such a high percentage of their people. Too bad. One assumes some things will never change, or will take a very long time to change.

This milky white skin obsession is bizarre. Some of these women look like Caspar the friendly ghost. What is appealing about skin that white? I just don't see it.

    Horses for courses,

l love a milky white skin.

    (& brown & coco-black, heh heh!).

    Damn, all smooth female skin.

  6. I don't see anything unusual.

Thai kill 2 years old babies with broom, brutally attack people for brushing pass them, or just kill crippled man for fun when drunk.

He will apologize and all will be well again.

You just have to find comfort knowing that they'll suffer more for it in their next life.

Wow you know some thing I don't , what next life ? How much do I have to pay to get one,?

    Everyone gets another(& another!)chance.

Look at it like progressing class(grade)by class through a school system.

We are all here to learn.

No monetary cost, but you may have to learn some hard lessons along the way.

  7. He was/is a good shot with that stone!

The car driver taunted him until he threw it.

    Don't they snap quickly?

The car driver had driven away and made a u-turn already. He purposefully crossed the road, busy, to throw that rock.

l realise this, l never said that he was right.

However the car driver must bear some of the blame.

He had the chance to just disappear but chose to drive back past the other chap.

Can't get away from the fact that the car driver was "in his face".

You mean he should no longer drive to where he wanted to go and should just drive somewhere else and hide and hope the guy never finds him?

The guy needed to do a U-turn to go to his destination.

No l mean that he should never have stirred up the bike rider in the first place.

How do you know that the guy needed to do a u-turn?

Got esp have you my argumentative friend?

  8. l like the idea of a Skytrain.

Underground would be nearly below sea level.

lf the tunnels were too close to the surface to avoid seawater seepage, then there are the stinking street runoff drains to worry about.

And thats not even taking into account the rainy season.

l've peered into excavations even several blocks from the shore & seen nothing but yellow or orange sand.

Skytrain, to connect with the existing system which l think ends at Bang Na.

  10. 1989 model Toyota Landcruiser Station Wagon, Diesel.

2&1/4 tons of solid metal, impossible to kill, bit sluggish with Mrs & 4 kids, but could wind it up to 120kms/hr & still get 23 mpg.

(l'm old school, brain still in transition changing imperial measurements to metric!)

Before that Ford Falcon Station Wagon, undoubtedly the best car l have ever had.

Before that 1965 Toyota Corona(bought new).

l tend to keep my cars a long time.smile.png

  11. We lived back in Australia and yeah got a lot of looks from blokes and ladies. A bloke with an Asian girl is something different i guess. Most have the decency to look away when confronted though.

My ex(Filipina) was a stunner when she was in her twenties.

When l brought her back to Australia, men wouldn't stop staring at her.

Some tried to get it off with her even though she told them she was married.

A lot of white women actually hated her because of her good looks.

And the women who didn't hate her tried to corrupt her because they didn't want to look after their poor long suffering husbands the way l was being looked after.

Fat lazy slags tried to put ideas in her head.

They moaned over her slim trim body but wouldn't do anything about their own.

    l know what you mean.

  13. Been voting by absent ballot overseas for over 20 years. Just received a new ballot today by e-mail. Yes sir in 1776 the USA did the correct thing and toss you hooligans out.laugh.png

Off topic, but personally I would rather give up the right to vote in my home country than be subject to taxation on my worldwide income by that country. I rather like not having to pay a single centime in tax on investment income (or capital gains) anywhere in the world. After all, I really don't understand why politicians and unelected bureaucrats think they know better than me how best to spend my money.

So perhaps the US of A makes voting easier for expats, but it's one of only two countries in the world that taxes expats on their overseas income, the other being Eritrea. Perhaps, on balance, things would have been better for you colonial types if we hooligans hasn't been tossed.

l had Filipinos working for me in New Guinea in the 70s that paid Philippine tax as well as local PNG tax.

While there, the Australian govt tried to bring in a double taxation for us OZ expats but it was dropped when expats started mass resignations.

My combined tax bill would have been 63%(32% from OZ & 31% from PNG).

l was about to put my resignation in when the proposed tax was dropped.

    Didn't leave until 1783.

Do we owe rent for those 7 years?

  15. Again the word "farang" was used in above news article. This, in itself, is an insult.

Also noticed no specific charges mentioned. As mentioned before, repeatedly kicking someone in head is attempted murder, drunk or not drunk.

I have found over the years, a number of Thais are very confrontational when it comes to foreigners. They seem to wish to fight. I have started to

see on the roads, windows go down and middle finger comes out. Never saw this before.

I have lived in many countries and never seen foreigners mistreated like they are here, from immigration, dual pricing and many other matters.

I do not like this situation and have actively started to seek another country once my employment tenure ends here.

l'm actively looking for somewhere else too.

  16. Britain is paying some 250 million pounds per week to the EU ,I am sure For what your getting Brexit is your best option. Look at all the joy being in the Eu has brought you.

l read it was £53million per day, so it would be more like £370million per week.

l'm sure that £370million per week could be more fruitfully spent in Britain.
