  1. I always take my wife to Cabbages and Condoms. I also live in Jomtien and it isn't too far away. Excellent atmosphere - almost like a giant tree house. Good food and next to the water. They have a great garden you walk through to get to the restaurant and my wife ALWAYS has to play with the rabbits they have running loose on the grass.

I agree, C & C have very good atmosphere, with the garden and restaurant overlooking the beach/ocean.

However last time I was there, the food was very disappointing, the beer was warm, and the service no good! mad.gif

  2. Won't go into details, but after a number of trips to the village in far NE of issan, was bored, annoyed and felt unsafe. Too many local guys unhappy you're taking the pick of the litter. Solution: bought wife a home in new development in Udon Thani city. Mil and sisters migrated too. Personally would go koo koo trying to live in the village. The daily morning blarring of the public address system was harsh enough. But the bamboo telegraph even has your bowell movements down.

If you want to be happy for the rest of your life - never make a pretty woman your wife.

Hmm .....I probably made a mistake back then, and will regret sooon?? coffee1.gif

  3. "This morning went down to have breakfast in soi 7 and asked for srcrambled eggs with bacon and toast. Service lady says only cannot. Ask again then she says extra that is the all. Okay i say then meal comes out with scrambled eggs and two fried eggs <deleted>."

Come on you gotta admit this is funny. cheesy.gif

    You're right. It is.

I admit I got a chuckle out of it, too, but -- not trying to justify, but explain -- what *probably* happened was: the restaurant may have a "no substitution" policy for set menus like a breakfast and having little ability to explain that in English = "Cannot!" Then, not able to explain that you can add a side order of scrambled = "Extra." And, voila! the result is double eggs.

    Could be, no?

    Yes absolutely!biggrin.png

    It's not only a tapper's shack - it's where they're living as well.

I suggest you and your Aussie BIL support them with 20.000,- each. = 40.000,- that is if they want to spend the money on a new hut.

The amount will not build them a luxury home, but will provide something better.

If they're nice people and are doing a good job - why not - you might also see the favor returned over the years! wink.png

  5. ..ever heard of 'stealing by finding'..it's not your property, so why wouldn't you hand it in to the Police and get a receipt, chances are you can claim it after three months if the owner doesn't come forward..let your conscience be your guide.

Hand it in to the police, get a receipt, and possible claim it after 3 months..........huh.png

Now I wonder why I didn't think of this option? rolleyes.gif

  8. Mario, thanks.

Onionluke, thanks I will check the shop out.

Bergen, Interesting pseudonym you have in relation to my query. Berg Larsen is a person famous for the creation of a superb sax mouthpiece. May be you knew that already.

Any sax shop pointers in BKK would also be appreciated. Its a bit frustrating....there is absolutely zilch in Phuket related to anything but guitars!.............. But I love Phuket. The issue is that the sax is a very complicated and sensitive instrument. Anything can go wrong unexpectedly. And the only good repair technician I know is in Nonthaburi. He is "Mr. Koh Saxman's" technician. So I have to learn how to do simple repairs and maintenance. Hence the query.

No i haven't heard of Berg Larsen as a mouthpiece creator

and I'm afraid Bkk is the place to go - perhaps Siam Paragon/Discovery have a shop that will meet your needs. :D

  9. Went out for a beer or two yesterday evening here in KK.

It felt like a nice summer evening back in Scandi.

After 2 big Heineken, I just had to go back home, as I started to freeze.

This would never ever had bothered me when I lived back in Scandi.

Heineken makes me shiver in Thailand too! :D

  10. Jezz while I wish ozzyfan269 and his wife success with their business I believe you will miss out on a huge percentage of buyers relying on internet advertising alone.

I base this on my wifes close family and their dealings over the past 5 or so years. Over a dozen properties have been purchased ranging from rubber plantations to commercial buildings. I should add they've looked at many more in their searches.

All were found through word of mouth. While some are internet savy most aren't and the internet savy ones weren't interested in searching for property online.

Over the past 2 months there's been an increase in the number of random inquiries by potential investors for vacant land they own. People drive past a plot, decide they like it, make a few inquiries through neighbors then show up on the doorstep with an offer.

Best of luck with your sale.

Couldn't agree with this more!. Word of mouth in these parts in the absolute best way to sell land, and if you don't believe in the power of this method then just do some small thing wrong that embarrasses you, and see how long it takes to get all around. B)

I agree also, number one method jing jing! :D
