  1. What happens to all the reruns? Tariffs every time one is shown in the US? Hollywood may be dying, but not necessarily because of movies filmed in foreign countries. There are other issues. For example, filmmakers may not like the union wages in Hollywood, so they make films in Texas. Still a "Hollywood" film, but filmed in Texas without all the Hollywood, CA expense.
  2. I like MTG. Not necessarily for her beliefs but for her chutzpah. She isn't afraid to say what she thinks. She doesn't care who is offended. And in this case, I think she's right on the money. Trump is screwing up.
  3. Whatever anyone thinks, there's not much doubt that it's like day and night. Two different realities, for all practical purposes. During the day? The people that are out and about are the people that have to be, other than the people at the beach for some sunshine or people that have business to do, like going to the bank or the grocery store. At night? People seemingly come out of the woodwork. The city is transformed. People everywhere, and there's magic in the air. Anything can happen. I like both. What are you looking for?
  4. I didn't say it happened overnight. And the original poster didn't say that, either. He was discussing some people's perceptions about the Left and about Trump. You're the one who brought up the issue, as if the Trump supporters were all blaming the left for America's problems. I'm pretty sure they don't think the problems magically appeared over a three month period.
  5. You can be fairly certain, that in the final analysis, they'll find a good deal of fraud. It's early yet, give them time. They'd like to be able to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, I'm sure.
  6. Of course not. Did I imply that was the case? America has been in decline for decades. Maybe not for some, but it's undisputed that the middle class is no longer what it was in the 50s and 60s. I could go into all that, but I don't think it's really necessary.
  7. I used to have a TD Ameritrade account and now have a Schwab account. I have a US mailing address, but I no longer have access to the phone number I have registered for that account. Anyway, for that reason I can't access the account. I haven't tried using a Thai number. So, for now, I guess, the account just sits there. I have stocks in it, but none I was planning on selling anytime soon, so I just leave it alone. I have two other brokerage accounts and I just switched to using one of those for new buys. I suppose I'll straighten it all out at some point if I'm back in the USA for a visit. I could try a Thai mailing address, I suppose, but then I'd have to get into a discussion with them as to why I'm in Thailand and why I no longer have the old phone number. So, I haven't bothered. I left a message for them one time, but they never got back to me. What I should probably do is switch the whole thing to a Schwab International account, but then I'd have the same problem as you about the beneficiary. No wife, but I have my niece listed as the beneficiary. The alternative would be to switch the stocks out of that account and into another of my US accounts onceI have access..
  8. But the interview was selectively edited, no? Kamala couldn't even answer a pre-scripted question without spouting gibberish, and so they cut that part of the interview and inserted another. And that's just one example of how the media was trying their best to "get Trump." CBS deserved to be sued.
  9. I haven't been in America in almost three years, but from what I see online, many Americas are now in serious financial trouble, especially some of the younger generations who are having very much trouble indeed. Do you need a list of the problems they all face in today's world? -Finding a job that pays a "living" wage. Very difficult for many. For some of them, sure, but those people are not "average." They're the exception. -Finding affordable housing. In some parts of the country, maybe, but those affordable areas have fewer employment opportunities. -Being able to afford healthy food Prices for groceries are through the roof ll over. People are using credit cards to charge their food, and the interest rates on those credit cards is not cheap. It's all very much not sustainable. Uber Eats? You can now pay in installments for your pizza. If that's not crazy, I'm not sure what is. -Having a family? Many can't even afford to support themselves, let alone support any dependents. Without more babies, the country is in trouble. I guess that may be one of the reasons some people like all the new illegal aliens. New slave labor for the labor pool. Americans might not want to work in a sweatshop. -And with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, many will find even maintaining today's not so good existence impossible. Fewer jobs will be available. Many jobs will be performed by AI agents or by robots. So, if your idea of the "average" American is a Baby Boomer with a house that's paid for, then perhaps many of them are doing OK, for now. They may be paying more for food, but they don't have to worry too much about paying a mortgage. They have yet to cash in their 401(k).
  10. I don't think Trump is at war with the "media." He does, however, have legitimate concerns about the mainstream media propaganda machine and how it tried to destroy him. Fortunately, we now have alternative media platforms with no connection to the mainstream media. Trump realizes this and has allowed them a voice. Free speech and all that, a concept abhorrent to those trying to shape public opinion by way of deceit and lies. Once the truth is out, you can't put that genie back in the bottle. It will win out, every time.
  11. Things aren't quite so simple, I'm afraid. Science? As in "trust the science"? Sure. Maths?? Explain that.
  12. Propaganda. They aren't all "reading from the same script," but they were all programed by way of the same propaganda apparatus. The powers that be bought and paid for mainstream media outlets and essentially controlled all the so-called "news." And the agenda was clear: Trump was a threat to the human race and a threat to "democracy." A man to be stopped at any cost. A man who could never again occupy the White House for any reason. Couple that agenda with a large portion of the population conditioned to "trust the authorities" and "follow the rules" and you have brainwashed people. People who will believe just about anything they've been programed to believe. It's a dangerous combination. But the powers that be lost control of the narrative. Mainstream media was no longer the only media game in town, and they could no longer dictate the "news." That's how Elon Musk became equally dangerous to the powers that be. He bought Twitter and he actually believed in the concept of free speech. Imagine that! Free speech in America. What a crazy notion. And we saw what they did to Elon and Tesla. Those same people who now vilify Musk used to think Tesla cars were the best thing since sliced bread. Saving the planet with electric cars. Fighting climate change. Silly or not, that was the message at one time. And then, for no logical reason, Musk was another evil enemy. Tesla cars were vandalized. Saving the planet was no longer a priority. Fighting climate change was no longer a priority. The real priority? Protecting trillions of dollars of corruption money. Wars are very profitable for many people and those people want to keep the money flowing in their direction. Now what? Has Trump lost the plot? How big is his new budget proposal and what portion of that money is for more war?
  13. Of course, if you can read, you must have read my post. I said "over the past month." And you can see the chart I posted, I presume. Tesla hit a recent bottom and is trending up. At lest that's the recent trend. And if you want to play games with charts, what does this trend look like to you? Looks like up to me. You can drive yourself nuts worrying about short to intermediate term noise. More than a few billionaires have gone broke trying to short Tesla. It's a losing game. And as to whether I should be in the stock market? I'm up YTD in a fairly significant way, and for the past 12 months, almost 300%. And you?
  14. I think I've seen other pictures of the guy with more of a Stetson hat. Anyway, it's silly to argue about a hat. He's part of Bangkok history.
  15. A few more. I guess they qualify.
  16. I can count on two or three fingers the number of McDonald's I've eaten at in the past 10 years, and even on those occasions, it was only for a cup of coffee and an Egg McMuffin. I'm not sure I can remember the last time I had a Big Mac or fries. Maybe 25 years ago when I was driving across the SW USA on some interstate and there was a McDonald's. A huge restaurant and probably the only restaurant for 100 miles in either direction. I didn't have much choice. I was really hungry. Usually, if I'm trying to eat that kind of food, there'll be a Wendy's around somewhere, which I like better, or some other burger joint. Burger King, Whataburger, Carl's Jr., Hardee's, etc.
  17. Well, over the past month, the market doesn't seem to be much worried about the big picture for Tesla. The stock has been trending higher.
  18. So, the rules for this new type of visa have yet to be published, but at this time you can get an investor visa if you invest about $50,000? But he doesn't really say what the term of the visa would be. 1-10 years is a big spread.
  19. Not exactly. Due process may mean "whatever process is due" under the circumstances, but sometimes, it's not just that a decision is made at a certain point, but that it's all you get under that particular setup. For example, under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) of 1996, hearing rights may be limited, or, a person's formal appeal process may be curtailed. In other words, the process stops, not because a decision has been made, but because that's all the process available.
  20. An actual law, not an executive order. Of course, so was the Alien Exclusion Act.
  21. Go ahead. Make us a flowchart. Did you ever hear the term "variable due process"? Or do you want to twist logic and contend that all due process is the same because it's called due process?
  22. The Trump team seems to think it can be a foreign policy issue. We'll see how the court eventually addresses it all. Remember, the Supreme Court allowed Trump to proceed under the Alien Exclusion Act, while recognizing a due process right. Deportations under the Act could continue with procedural safeguards. So, when the issue comes up in the cases currently on appeal, the court may well buy the argument that the president has some latitude in conducting foreign policy.
  23. Just a few posts ago, you were claiming that people always received the same process: "There may be different outcomes but it is the same process."
  24. Don't forget the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRAIRA), signed by Bill Clinton. A streamlined legal process for some people, to be sure.
  25. Didn't Bangkok Dangerous also contain some bar scenes? Actually, three are two versions of Bangkok Dangerous. The original, and the more recent one with Nicholas Cage.
