Trump Accused of 'Market Manipulation' in Tariff Reversal Shocker!
PomPolo replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
It's insider trading pure and simple, if he wasn't president and was a stockbroker the SEC would have him up on federal charges, but he would probably get away with those also, America is letting him destroy the country but they voted for him so no sympathy, the stupidity was always inevitable.- 94 replies

PomPolo replied to stupidfarang's topic in IT and Computers

Thailand to Boost US Imports Amid Tariff Turmoil
PomPolo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It will be interesting to know how they are going to do this with the current tariff debacle i) Do the Thai exporters take the hit and reduce prices to cover the Tariffs for the importer, probably difficult for most companies to do that or ii) Do the government step in and cover the cost of the US Import duties for the Thai exporter not really very clear in her statement all well and good getting people to talk to people but Orange Face has said this morning the Tariffs are staying in place so anyone with stocks and shares or private pensions expect another hit today when the markets open -
Given the recent tariff's and a "Possible end to globalisation and trade" are we in a better position to shield ourselves from what could possibly become one of the most painful times for the west in modern history if we continue to buy our products from Asian suppliers shipped into a country that import tariffs should not be dramatically impacted buying from Asian countries, the Baht may lose value given the export situation to a large economy like the US will be affected but if money is already saved then just means your exchange rates will go up, private pensions may be a concern with the destruction of the Stock Market but I don't think expats will take the brunt of it, unfortunately that will be Americans and the Penguins. (I did copy and paste the below from a Sky News article but it highlights very well the situation American consumers are going to find themselves in very shortly) "To see what I mean, the best place to begin is by pondering the hidden life of the device you're reading this on. I'm assuming it's a smartphone, specifically the latest iPhone, but most of the following applies for other smartphones and, indeed, many laptops or desktop computers. The display was made in South Korea or Japan. The camera module was made by Sony in Japan (who have a particular expertise in this type of specialised silicon that few other companies have been able to match). The batteries (for the latest iPhone at least) are made in India, though these days, the vast majority of the world's cells are made in China. On it goes - the memory chips from South Korea, which has a near monopoly on solid state storage silicon. The logic chips - the ones that help the device "think"- made in Taiwan, albeit with intellectual property (IP) from all over the world, including America and even Britain. Some of the chips do indeed come from the US - in particular the modem, though the company behind them (Qualcomm) sometimes manufactures in Taiwan. But there are some from Europe too - most notably the spatial sensor chips that come from Bosch in Germany."

Your Skype credit will transfer to Teams with the same Microsoft ID and you can make calls and (I think) send SMS's from there - the main issue teams have is you can't have a Skype Number so someone can call or SMS you which is the main reason I am looking for something else, I will use Teams until I burn up my remaining Skype credit got about 20$ on there that should last me a year or two the amount of landlines I call -
