Trump hits island home only to penguins with 10% tariffs
PomPolo posted a topic in Political Soapbox
There has to be a few jokes in this one. Penguins seem to be taking the brunt of "Lobotomisation Day" Heard and McDonald Islands near Oz, only inhabited by penguins and seals. No imports or exports but 10% on anything which is nothing sent to the US. Obviously Elon has been too efficient in DOGE and appears to have fired anyone with a brain, there are a bunch of tiny islands in the middle of nowhere that if they do have humans on them don't export anything to America and have been hit with tariffs between 10-30%. How did they decide all of this, get a bunch of guys in a room and have a game of bingo or something? Utter madness, but inevitable stupidity with the man at the helm. -
Go Sir Trump you are welcome to the UK - although glad I won't be there This is winning you Trumpsters 😉

Just had this written by AI (because it's more informed than I am 😅), and it really puts things into perspective: Stock Market Volatility: Recent market downturns show how trade tensions and protectionist policies can shake investor confidence—just like they did during the early stages of the Great Depression. Global Retaliation: Trump's tariffs triggered countermeasures from other nations, disrupting supply chains and raising costs—mirroring the global fallout from the 1930 Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. Isolationist Risk: The “America First” approach may lead to long-term economic isolation, much like the inward turn during the Depression that slowed international recovery. Short-Term Gains vs. Long-Term Pain: While some industries saw short-term protection, the broader economy faces inflation, reduced exports, and weakened international ties—just like in the 1930s. Long-Term Drag: Continued protectionism risks stalling innovation, reducing global competitiveness, and diminishing the U.S.'s leadership in world trade. Thought it was a pretty sharp comparison—curious what others here think?

Is @still kicking still going on about beef, I don't know what his beef is with beef! Back to topic anyways Trump has caused the UK exchange rate to go like a reverse Brexit, perhaps that Boris dude was right all along! #FreeTommy #ReElectBoris #GBPRules
-
Why invest in anything when you have a Trump that will move all the exchange rates for you it's genius - us Brits love you Orange Face x
-
And the GBP vs THB keeps on going up thankyou Donald we love you!!!!
-
Hahaha according to your posts all you seem to care about is beef, maybe you are trying to over compensate for something? Also you have a basic lack of understanding of the English language and grammar seeing as how in another thread you can't spell "marbels" Its all good though nothing to be shy about in this community we will guide you through your inadequacies 😉

In the last week our pound vs baht has gone up from 43->45 baht on the pound the highest its been since he got elected. We had it up to 47 nearly a year ago with Biden so hoping old Orange face can keep up the momentum I have made a few anti-Trump posts recently I have to to take my hat off to him however he messes up his own and the world economy as long as the Baht/Pound keeps on going up keep up the good/bad work!!!

Hello team also makes me query my own visa status this one and @DrJack54 is the master at answering these questions. If on a retirement currently and I got a re-entry permit from my IO I wouldn't need an onward flight would I on the re-entry to Thailand would I? I suspect not but don't know the answer?

Looking at the state of the car - I am not a forensic road accident expert but must have been doing some serious speed to cause that much damage to a car with a human.

Hope he's OK fair play to the driver for stopping and helping rare that happens, foreigners sometimes think that Zebra crossings are the same as their own country like cars must stop if someone steps on one, however I think most Thai drivers think of it more as a starting grid on a formula one track.
