  1. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot. If you check the US Navy's fitness standards, you will see that there are great differences in the expectations for male and female sailors. Ex; an "outstanding" rating of 100 points would be 92 pushups for a male, but only 51 for a female. A male who does 51 pushups is a 60 point score. For a female, they need only do 24 pushups to get 60 points on the evaluation. And so on. https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Portals/55/Support/Culture Resilience/Physical/Guide_5-Physical_Readiness_Test_PRT_JAN_2023.pdf?ver=OlmOLoZTfCA641JUkAnIaw%3D%3D
  2. In any case, why are you talking about Him in a discussion thread devoted to his opponent? Not enough other Trump based topics for you? You seem rather...desperate to get attention.
  3. Ah, deliberate misgendering as a form of attempted insult. Nice one. Must have been a clever lad when you were younger. As for The Donald and his business career, I would say that at least he had one. Kamala has had her lips firmly attached to the government teat for her entire life.
  4. Correct me if I am wrong, but VP Harris has also never lead a Dairy Queen. Or any other busines. Or in fact ever worked in the private secotor. The Donald for his faults has been CEO of a multi billion dollar company with thousands of employees.
  5. Actually, a lil mushroom would make it even more impressive- harder to reach!
  6. What is a driveling? A small person who operates a car? Your advanced vocabulary is confusing me.
  7. ...uh.... ok? Not sure where you are going with this...
  8. If you lived in the Bay area in the 90s and didn't know about Willie Brown's.... activities.... then you were hiding under a rock.
  9. Actually, no. If I could blow myself I would be famous.
  10. Hell yeah. Lined 'em up and knocked 'em down. Got me where I am today. How about you?
  11. "No, but he does like to say 'who's your daddy?' when we are bumping ugly."
  12. You are projecting. Please try to stop being a mind reader.
  13. Your comparisons are ludicrous. Please. I wouldnt have been pleased if Hillary had won in 2016, but also I could see her doing well on the international stage. Kamala can't even handle a ten minute interview with a friendly news anchor without making a hash of it.
  14. "Specifics"??? Come on, man. "Investing in areas that need a lot of work" is a rather non-specific answer, to be charitable. What areas? What kind of work? Who is this new generation of leadership- a pair of nearly 60 year old Washington insiders? I mean, everyone knows that Trump is a BSer, but at least he is entertaining about it. Kamala doesn't even look like she is trying. And she doesn't have to. She sat for a five question interview and this was the best she could come up with. God save America.
  15. Oh, no doubt he lost. He could have handled the situation much better, but he has a big ego and it cost him. But I am saying, that from the point of view of actually informing the public about the positions of both candidates, ABC did a crap job. We learned little about Trump that we didn't already know, and even less about Harris because she didn't actually answer any of the questions she was asked. I think a better approach is to have two moderators, but each questions just one of the candidates. And, that moderator gets picked by the opponent. So Trump picks the mod that questions Harris and vice versa. Far more entertaining and far more likely to tease some policy out of the candidates.
  16. So then, the MODS should use the little time available to do it? That makes no sense. A mentally agile candidate could point out their opponent's lies in seconds, then move on to rebut them.
  17. I guess we have a fundamental disagreement about the role of a moderator in a political debate. To me, the moderator is the timekeeper and questioner. Not fact checker. Political debates I have seen in England and Canada are this way. The mods stay out of the way as much as possible and let the candidates have at it. It also seems to be the way during candidate selection debates for both parties. Only in the general election does the whole "mod as fact checker and truth teller" seem to appear.
  18. I don't particularly like the guy. If you check my posting history he wasn't even in my top 3 picks for the GOP nomination. But... given the quality of his opponents, and also given the damage they want to do to the US, I am willing to overlook his weaknesses and idiosyncracies. I cringe at the thought of Kamala Harris trying to negotiate with Xi or Putin or Kim or any other world leader.
  19. ...as if on cue, within the first 10 responses the "b-b-but Trump!" crowd rears its collective ugly head. And no, anyone is free to comment on how weak and insecure Harris looks when she speaks. Even you.
  20. BS. If Harris isn't up to the job of calling out Trump's lies, then she shouldn't be at the podium. It isn't the moderators' job to spar with the participants, especially only one participant, and especially when they get things wrong.
  21. If you look at the transcripts of the debate, Muir talked waaaaaaaay too much- something like 3000 words. Almost like he was a participant rather than the moderator. He and Davis would spit out a 100 word plus editorialized question at Trump, full of conditions and assumptions. Then, to Harris: "Vice President Harris, your thoughts?"
  22. ...goes as you might expect. She sat for a full TEN MINUTES with one of the friendliest journalists around. Shock of shocks, a news anchor with ABC NEWS in Philadelphia, Brian Taff. ...and stuffed it again. The word salads are back. Example; TAFF: Talk about bringing down prices and making life more affordable for people. What are one or two specific things you have in mind for that? HARRIS: Well, I'll start with this. I grew up a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard. She was able to finally save up enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager. I grew up in a community of hardworking people. You know, construction workers and nurses and teachers. I try to explain to some people who might not have had the same experience, but a lot of people will relate to this. You know, I grew up in a neighborhood of people who were really proud of their lawn, you know, and I was raised to believe and to know that all people deserve dignity and that we as Americans have a beautiful character. You know, we have ambitions and aspirations and dreams, but not everyone necessarily has access to the resources that can help them fuel those dreams and ambitions. So, when I talk about building an opportunity economy, it is very much with the mind of investing in the ambitions and aspirations and the incredible work ethic of the American people and creating opportunity for people, for example, to start a small business. This from a candidate who claims to have a "passion for small businesses". Yet AFAIK has never actually owned a business, nor has she worked for one even one day in her life. God save America...
  23. Moderators job? They ask the questions, do follow ups, and keep the time. And stay out of the way. They don't coax the answer from the candidate, don't offer two or three possible explanations within the question, don't offer a soft landing. They ask the question and let the candidate hang themself. The simpler the better. eg. "Mr. Trump, why can't you just say that you lost in 2020?" or "Ms. Harris, when did you first realize that Joe Biden was unfit to stand for re-election?" If you look at the intra-party debates from the last several election cycles, the moderators behaved much differently. But when it is D vs R, things change. Do you seriously think debate candidates shouldn't fact check each other?
  24. Just off the top of my head, trying to think of any G7 nation that has a direct popular vote for head of state. US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany, Italy, don't think so. Not sure about France.
  25. Charming, but again not part of the rules for the debate as written by ABC News. Mods should be preparing follow up questions and getting ready for the next candidate, not playing "gotcha!". I guess Harris is incapable of fact checking on the fly, so ABC gave her a helping hand. Seems to be a trend in the legacy media.
