  1. Her parents were both university professors, met and married in the Bay Area of California. Later divorced, mother went to McGill University in Montreal (with her 2 daughters) as a cancer researcher. Father kept in touch and supported them, etc. This is not the stereotypical "raised by a struggling single mother" story by any means.
  2. Aside from the 'inconsistencies ' in his bio, he IS very good on the stump. Far better than Harris, which admittedly is a very low bar. But he may cost her the election. Pennsylvania is looking increasingly tough for the Democrats to win, and ignoring Governor Shapiro to pick Walz may be the reason. There really is no path to victory without Pennsylvania.
  3. Interesting. Yet it does not specify which race she was accused of stirring up hatred for.
  4. English law only, thank God. Although might be the same in other places soon. Europe is starting to lose its freedom in the quest for avoiding offence to others.
  5. `I am still a bit confused as to who exactly this woman was racist AGAINST. And yes, yelling fire in a crowded theatre is OK, if the theatre is on fire. I look at speech that promotes direct and specific violence as being possibly criminal. Saying "let's kill the ..... (insert group here)" should be legal. Saying, "let's kill Barney the (insert group here), we can meet at the pub at 6"- not acceptable.
  6. When American citizens are being held hostage, yes. Otherwise, it just encourages other terrorists to do the same.
  7. There are no Israeli settlements in Gaza. The last Jew left nearly 20 years ago- removed forcibly by the IDF. The Palestinians have had 20 years and billions of dollars given to them. They created nothing other than an Islamo-fascist terror state. Aid money was either stolen or used to buy weapons and build terror facilities. So yes, the real sticking point is Hamas.
  8. ...and where is Joe Biden in all of this? Americans are being held hostage. There can only be one possible answer- send in whatever Special Forces are needed to retrieve them, and eliminate every last member/supporter of Hamas. But Joe probably doesnt even know how many hostages are still being held.
  9. Israel did not kidnap torture or murder more than 1000 innocent people in a one-day orgy of violence. The real source of violence is Hamas. Hamas has had nearly 20 years and billions of dollars in foreign aid to build Gaza into a thriving community. They instead stole the money, and used some to create a terror tunnel network to rival the subway system in any major city. Their leaders are sitting in luxury with hundreds of millions of dollars in stolen aid. Their children live like royalty. They treat minorities in their community like dirt. And yet it is Israel that must compromise?
  10. Utter and pure speculation. Any evidence to support this? Trump merely wanted NATO members to start pulling their own weight in their military spending. Countries like Germany and Canada and the UK were laggards and too used to relying on Uncle Sugar to do the heavy lifting.
  11. Exactly. Which is why Putin chose to invade Ukraine when Obama and Biden were in office, but not Trump. What better way to show that Trump is weak than to not invade your neighbour?
  12. Exactly. Democrats have been in power 12 of the last 16 years, yet based on the tone of the Harris campaign you would think they were fighting against an entrenched power structure. When, in fact, Harris IS the entrenched power structure.
  13. I think you may misunderstand the feelings of many Trump supporters. We get that he is a rogue and a scoundrel and has a checkered past. We do NOT hold him in high esteem whatsoever. I certainly dont. BUT... we like the results he got as President. The low inflation etc. The relative peace in the world. And frankly we like the swagger. Cringing and cowardly leftists like Harris and Walz offer none of that. They are papier mache analogues of what they think politicians should be.
  14. Dana Bash also interviewed JD Vance a couple of weeks ago. A solo interview, no need for anyone to hold his hand. The contrast in style and demeanor in Bash are remarkable.
  15. Sorry if nuance and mature conversation eludes you. Can I suggest a bit of a lie down and some colouring books?
  16. Dana is usually a better interviewer than this. She was very good during the Trump/Biden debate- professional, prepared, and factual. The first thing CNN should have done is say "no, this will not be a pair interview. We want to interview Harris only". Also, Bash gave her guests far too many 'off ramps' to her questions. They were long and wordy and ate up far too much time. Pointed and succinct would have been far better. Even so, Kamala managed to flub the softballs and look confused.
  17. Yes, on the Commander in Chief of the military. And who might that be..... Biden wanted the withdrawl to coincide with the 20th anniversary of 9/11. He wanted a photo op and a meme, and he sacrificed lives to get it. What a chump.
  18. The VP was very proud to say that she was the last person that the doddering Joe Biden spoke to before many, if not most of his decisions. Including this one. Hard to blame a man who was not in power at the time. The Biden-Harris administration had no trouble reversing any of Trump's policies when it suited them. Nah, this is on Joe and Kamala. They screwed up the timing and the execution.
  19. If these are "bombshells", if this is Kamala at her best, then Trump has nothing to worry about. A very gentle Dana Bash gave her trouble over the course of a grand total of about 20 minutes' time. She will wilt in a debate.
  20. For one thing, don't do the withdrawl during the 'fighting season' just to look good and have a convenient anniversary date. Wait until winter. For another, don't abandon billions of dollars of military hardware for your erstwhile enemy to use. Including more than 10,000 Humvees and 300,000 personal weapons. Casualties? There had been zero deaths in 2021 up until the pull out. In 2020 there were 11. So waiting and phasing the withdrawl to coincide with better timing would have been the smart play.
  21. Follow ups yes, occasionally. But no real push back, no fact checking, and just accepting the word salad answers that did not address the questions. To be honest, Bash did a bit better than I thought- she DID try, but I am sure was hampered by her instructions from her bosses and her reluctance to make Harris look bad. I did notice that almost everything bad that happened while she was VP was Trump's fault somohow. She talks as if she were not the incumbent VP.
  22. The actual interview parts totalled 18 minutes. The rest was filler, video clips, commercials, etc. Very gentle probing from Dana Bash. She occasionally asked a follow up question but never actually dug deep. Just accepted whatever answer Harris (and rarely Walz gave) and moved on. This was a gentle and friendly little chat. As an aside, the optics were strange. Why did Walz sit directly opposite the interviewer, and not Harris? Having Harris in the middle made her look phusically small and definitely not in control.
  23. A bit new? Come on, man. Harris has been the VP for more than 3 years- first woman and POC in the job. You think she is new to the public? Biden even requested that his government be called the Biden-Harris administration. She is as high profile as any VP in recent memory. And yet, she still needs her ESG (Emotional Support Governor) at her side to guide her through a tongue bath interview with a friendly network. I'm dying to see if CNN will ever release the unedited and complete interview.
  24. Politicians often kiss and make up, especially in the name of expediency. The current administration is no different. Vance freely admitted that he was wrong, based on Trump's performance as President. How and what did Kamala win exactly?
  25. Well, she works as a librarian in a middle school. Also really into left wing issues, hates Trump, loves the whole "Drag Queen Story Hour" crap. In her capacity as a public school employee, it is only natural that she is careful to choose age appropriate material. Nothing to do with freedom.
