Strange you should bring that up. The conservatives actually got 2.4 million MORE votes, and 24 more seats in Parliament, compared to the previous election. So I am not sure where you get your data. ETA It is obvious to anyone that the vote in Canada shifted from scared lefties to the Liberal Party.

Absolutely nothing. Maybe some elderly church ladies would angrily brew a cup of tea or perhaps write a letter to the Times. In the US, people have already put a crucifix into a jar of urine and called it "art". AFAIK they didnt have to live in hiding or fear for their life. By contrast, a minor journalist who decided to have a "draw Mohammed" campaign has been in hiding and not seen since.

'SHOCKING': Migrant arrested for posing as high school student …
Hanaguma replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Very true. I recall the same thing in the UK. So-called "migrants" who crossed the channel claimed (without evidence) to be teenagers. Conveniently they had no ID, no passport, no way to prove it. But the activist class in England believed them and put them in schools and homestays as if they were kids. Turned out many were in their 20s... -
Don't Eat Jew Food! Says Hamas leader from...Beirut
Hanaguma replied to Hanaguma's topic in Political Soapbox
Come to think of it, do you actually see any starving people in the pictures and videos of Gaza? They all seem pretty well fed to me. Compare them to the actual starving people we saw in Darfur, and Somalia. Even with Hamas stealing (and reselling) so much of the relief sent there. -
Don't Eat Jew Food! Says Hamas leader from...Beirut
Hanaguma replied to Hanaguma's topic in Political Soapbox
I think "unhinged" are the Hamas leaders who tell their people to starve rather than eating food provided by Israel and the US. It shows how little they actually care about the people of Gaza. Or is that OK with you? -
What's the dullest place in Thailand?
Hanaguma replied to Tuco Ramirez's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The golf thing is spot on. My condo has about 20 sets of golf clubs in the lobby at all times! And it is not a big building, only about 200 units. -
Don't Eat Jew Food! Says Hamas leader from...Beirut
Hanaguma replied to Hanaguma's topic in Political Soapbox
I was paraphrasing. Relax. The point is that Hamas is simultaneously crying about starving kids AND refusing to take aid that is not siphoned through a network that they can pilfer from. Especially coming from a chunky neckbeard like Hasdan. Isn't that a bit more important than quibbling about word choice? -
”Hamas wanted Kamala to win", says former hostage in CNN interview
Hanaguma replied to Hanaguma's topic in Political Soapbox
Given your obvious knowledge of military operations, could you enlighten us with the "Tug Strategy" on how to wipe out Hamas without any collateral damage? Especially if you read my other post, where an obese Hamas leader calls for Gazans to starve rather than eat food provided by the Jews. -
Gazans are starving, but should suffer instead of eating food from either of the Satans (Israel and US) according to Osama Hasdan. Speaking from his safe space in Lebanon, he declared; “We expect our great people to thwart the method of receiving aid today, just as they thwarted it yesterday. We trust that our people will endure hunger and not extend their hands to the occupier asking for aid!” https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-israel-backed-gaza-humanitarian-foundation-aid-effort-tumultuous-start/ Hamas has been blocking aid that does not come via the UN or UNRWA, because they have no way to steal it or divert it for their own uses. By the way, here is a photo of the man who wants his people to heroically starve;

In an extraordinary interview on CNN, former hostage Omar Tov asserts that his captors in Gaza were cheering for a Harris victory. And were terrified when Trump won. After the Bad Orange Man was elected, his treatment became more civilized, he started getting better food, and people stopped spitting on him. The Trump Effect in action... https://edition.cnn.com/2025/05/28/Tv/video/amanpour-shemtov

The problem is that will all the sanctions, Europe won't sanction the one product that would actually hurt Russia- energy. LNG imports from Russia are higher than ever. So forgive me if I am skeptical. Seems like Europe is willing to fight to the last Ukranian,as long as they can sell Ukraine weapons and buy gas from Russia.

TBH there are two separate issues at play- freedom and abortion. We could argue abortion until Mars is colonized and still disagree. It is a moral issue rather than religious or political to me, but the three often mix. Personally, I think it is horrifying bacause it snuffs out a life. A healthy fetus, left alone, will shortly become a healthy baby, and killing it for financial or social reasons disgusts me. Especially when the option of adoption exists. Then it is merely convenience. The other issue is freedom. Freedom of conscience and expression. I agree that blocking the way into any medical facility (abortion or otherwise) is a foul thing to do and should be illegal. But merely speaking, or even standing silently and not blocking access? This should not be an issue. IMHO when there is a conflict between being offended and freedom, freedom always wins. There is no "harm" involved.
-
Obviously. And the simple fact that so many people have moral qualms about it who are also in favour of it makes it obvious. It is NOT just another medical procedure, and even the most pro-abortion people know that in their hearts. That is why they try to hide behind euphemisms and political doublespeak- the straight facts are horrifying.
-
It isn't difficult to understand. The government of the UK prioritizes feelings over freedoms. And defines "harm" very loosely. It is a game that the left play very well, and the right needs to learn, sadly. And the Brandenburg case is not about "absolute free speech protection", it merely states that there must be a direct link between speech and lawless action. Not a nebulous "harm reduction" strategy.

She WAS praying in secret. Nobody knew until the police bothered her. Was she carrying a sign saying, "I am praying SILENTLY!"?
-
WHy should that matter, if it is just a medical procedure like any other? This should not upset the woman who is getting the abortion at all, any more than if there were a protest outside her dentist's office about people getting root canal procedures.
-
What is this "traumatic procedure" of which you speak? It's just an abortion, a "health care choice". Nothing different than having a wisdom tooth removed or your bunions scraped. Why treat it differently? Unless..... ...unless it actually IS different. Different becaues it involves the destruction of a human life.
-
If it isn't killing babies, then why all the euphemisms around it? The side using euphemisms is usually the one with something to hide. Obviously it is more than a simple "health care choice". I agree that nobody should be interfered with while doing any activity, getting an abortion included. But when you are in public and walking on the public sidewalk, you are not afforded much in the way of privacy. If someone wants to talk to you, you are under no obligation to respond. If they block your way, they should be arrested.
