  1. PCR test positive cases, total of 17,775 official new infections. 128 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 13,617 bringing the total of PCR and ATK results to 31,392 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ OWD rolling 7 day average, cases and deaths up to 15th April https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  2. Finland's farmers have decided to join in the trolling, this made me ???? Watch the video in the link: After reports that the Russian Federation pulled its so-called troops to the border with Finland, the Finns published a video with tractors moving to the border with the Russian Federation. Bravo, Finland!
  3. Yet we don't only have one set of numbers to go with though, as with all countries Thailand submits its deaths data. Excess deaths provides a very good measure when compared to the previous 5 years average. The actual death toll from COVID-19 is higher than the number of confirmed deaths – this is due to limited testing and challenges in the attribution of the cause of death. Thailand's covid testing is very low infact its placed 148th in the world for testing per million population. It is currently averaging around 55k PCR tests daily. The result of this is not only does it miss a huge amount of positive cases but also deaths. From WHO COVID-19 deaths are a key indicator to track the evolution of the pandemic. However, many countries still lack functioning civil registration and vital statistics systems with the capacity to provide accurate, complete and timely data on births, deaths and causes of death. A recent assessment of health information systems capacity in 133 countries found that the percentage of registered deaths ranged from 98% in the European region to only 10% in the African region. Countries also use different processes to test and report COVID-19 deaths, making comparisons difficult. To overcome these challenges, many countries have turned to excess mortality as a more accurate measure of the true impact of the pandemic. Post and charts on Thailand's excess deaths have already been posted today on this thread so I wnt bother with that again. However here is a fully peer reviewed study from the Lancet with also includes their calculations for excess deaths in Thailand for 2020 - 2021. I year and that was 35,200 extra deaths over and above the reported covid deaths for that year. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(21)02796-3/fulltext If you want to see some more data on Thailand specific excess deaths that is updated regularly then you can visit https://djay.github.io/covidthailand/#excess-deaths the website has the official source links for the data sets. Or visit the links to ourworldindata which has already been posted in this thread a few times.
  4. Unfortunately Ukraine has suffered before from Russian tyrants. Stalin killed around 4 million of them through famine back in 1932/3
  5. With your chart being cumulative deaths giving totals only as you know. To measure the true excess deaths for that whole time period to see where they are higher or lower than you need to switch to the default log scale which is ideal for measuring rates of change, particularly rates of growth. As you can see Thailand's excess deaths are currently over the 5 year average, the UK's is under. https://ourworldindata.org/excess-mortality-covid Road deaths this year in Thailand are currently under their normal high yearly rates by the way
  6. Mariupol is a crime scene waiting to be discovered, who knows if the atrocities there will ever be fully investigated in part due to the Russians there now covering their tracks and disposing of bodies. We were told about some of the horrors going on in Bucha by people escaping in early March but it was not until April 1st or 2nd when Ukriane troops entered along with press that the full horrors started to unfold. Not just Mariupol of course, so many other people in towns and villages that have suffered and telling their stories. Its the worst nightmare imaginable.
  7. Sure and in addition WHO estimates that seasonal influenza may result in 290,000-650,000 deaths each year worldwide. With a population of around 7.9 billion.
  8. It maybe an opinion boosters "gives a fighting chance" however its an opinion based on fact through countless studies and real world statistics that have been posted multiple times. If you want to pass a high school science paper I suggest you read up and do a little research first. mortality due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among adults 50 years of age or older was 90% lower among participants who received a booster at least 5 months after receiving a second dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine (Pfizer–BioNTech) than among those who did not receive a booster.
  9. Not sure what you mean? We do know who dies from covid because of the daily figures published. That said because of limited testing there will also be some that do not get recorded.
  10. Thats exactly what I'm say, their figures are not correct as for where they get their covid figures, WHO does not publish covid cases daily either for Thailand but DDC does which is where ourworldindata and worldometers get their figures daily https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ in turn WHO updates with a Thailand report once a week from figures from the DDC
  11. Posted nearly everyday on these threads by @TallGuyJohninBKK
  12. To get peer reviewed studies on flu death in Thailand then you can visit a previous post I did on this here: 2005 - 2009 On average, 6 people in every 100,000 were estimated to die each year in Thailand as a result of seasonal influenza, representing 4,000 deaths per year. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/275363294_Mortality_Attributable_to_Seasonal_Influenza_A_and_B_Infections_in_Thailand_2005-2009_A_Longitudinal_Study 2006 - 2011 The average annual influenza-associated mortality per 100 000 persons was 4·0 (so less than the above study of 4,000 yearly deaths) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4605410/"
  13. Not sure what you find so amusing? New highs in daily deaths are just that, new highs, everyone already knows there's a lag in deaths from infection to deaths, can be anything between a few days to 4 or 5 weeks. Its no huge revelation that needs explaining everyday.
  14. Just a recap and update on the title of this thread: "Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital" As of yesterday visually confirmed Russian helicopters shot down are 33...........and thats just those captured on video or image. Visually confirmed Russian aviation losses over Ukraine amount to: - 20 Aircraft - 33 Helicopters - 32 UAVs Full list here https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2022/03/list-of-aircraft-losses-during-2022.html
  15. SAS troops ‘are training local forces in Ukraine’ Serving British soldiers ‘on ground’ for first time SAS troops have trained local forces in Kyiv for the first time since the war with Russia began, Ukrainian commanders have told The Times. Officers from two battalions stationed in and around the capital said they had undergone military training from serving British special forces, one last week and the other the week before. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sas-troops-are-training-local-forces-in-ukraine-32vs5bjzb No Paywall https://web.archive.org/web/20220415214840/https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sas-troops-are-training-local-forces-in-ukraine-32vs5bjzb
  16. PCR test positive cases, total of 18,892 official new infections. 125 official covid deaths recorded. Rapid tests positive cases, 8,858 bringing the total of PCR and ATK results to 27,750 https://ddc.moph.go.th/covid19-dashboard/ OWD rolling 7 day average, cases and deaths up to 13th April https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand
  17. Debatable but without the facts of evidenced incidents of this then speculation as much as it would be speculation without evidence that Russian's had hidden snipers in residential complex's. Besides which as the ICC Chief Prosecutor said, they are going after the low hanging fruit first for war crime convictions so justice starts to happen. There are plenty of very well evidenced incidents for this in Bucha and other places. Khan said his team will start with investigating obvious crimes, which he called "low hanging fruit", in an effort to speed up the prosecution. The OSCE is also compiling and evidencing all war crimes and atrocities.
  18. Russians allegedly exhuming bodies in Mariupol - city council City officials in Mariupol say Russian occupiers have begun exhuming bodies buried in the yards of residential blocks. Mariupol City Council said on Telegram that the occupiers are not allowing residents to bury people allegedly killed by the occupiers. There are 13 mobile crematoria in Mariupol, according to Ukraine, and the city authorities suspect the Russians are trying to cover up war crimes. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-europe-61101906
  19. Lets also not forget this is the second key naval vessel lost to Ukraine missiles. According to British intelligence, the loss of two key warships destroyed the position of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. Russia will likely have to reconsider its naval tactics.
  20. Love this classic trolling post by Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine's Minister of Defense. A "flagship" russian warship is a worthy diving site. We have one more diving spot in the Black Sea now. Will definitely visit the wreck after our victory in the war. BTW, I already have 300 scuba dives
  21. Article on it here although apparently not too much to worry about. The Ukrainian industry portal Defense Express, in turn, reports that the Moskva cruiser may have nuclear warheads. According to Defense Express, in the short term, there is no risk of a possible explosion of these missiles in the event of a sinking of the cruiser. As the portal emphasizes, there are currently about 10 reactors, about 10 torpedoes and about 20 ballistic missiles at the bottom of the seas and oceans, most of which ended up there as a result of accidents on Soviet ships that took place from the 1960s to the 1980s. https://dip.org.ua/en/russia/experts-say-cruiser-moskva-may-have-nuclear-warheads/
  22. Russian state TV is attempting to make excuses as to why the Special operation is taking so long. They are claiming this has already escalated into WW111 and Russia is fighting Ukraine and NATO. VIDEO And here we have it - in a rant seemingly aimed at explaining to viewers why the "special operation in Ukraine" is taking so long, Russian state TV presenter Olga Skabeyeva says her country is fighting World War Three against Nato I've added subtitles Russia warns US to stop arming Ukraine Russia this week sent an official diplomatic note to the United States warning that US and NATO deliveries of the “most sensitive” weapons systems to Ukraine were “fueling” the conflict there and could have consequences. “unforeseeable consequences”. “What the Russians are telling us privately is precisely what we’ve been telling the world publicly – that the massive aid we’ve provided to our Ukrainian partners is proving extraordinarily effective,” a senior administration official said. who spoke on the condition of anonymity on the sensitive diplomatic document. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/04/14/russia-warns-us-stop-arming-ukraine/ If above link is Paywall you can also get a free version here: https://reelslug.com/russia-warns-us-to-stop-arming-ukraine/
  23. He's good at sneaking in bogeymen. We all know that corruption within the Russian military has lead to a massive impact on their capabilities. It additionally seems to have contributed in part to the sinking of their flagship yesterday. It was due for an upgrade and refit in 2015 "While it was the flagship of the VMF's Black Sea fleet and it won awards it was in a pitiful state. Broader modernisation was cancelled in 2015 and what was done was mostly servicing and extension of power plant's life." In 2018 Flot Prom pointed to older Russian ships having severe issues with their fire suppression systems. Again something that's been postponed as most modernisation plans have been scrapped. Aside from the sinking of the Argentine Belgrano in 1982 by the British in the Falklands it is the largest successful attack on a military ship since the U.S. struck vessels of the Japanese Imperial Navy in July 1945. Congratulations to Ukraine for sinking the largest military ship in 76 years.
  24. Pick of the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor, Karim Khan QC visiting crime scenes in Bucha. He is determined that justice is seen to be done swiftly. War crime prosecutor says inquiry must be swift and effective Speaking to the BBC in Kyiv, he said there was a need for "international justice to be faster, to be more effective and have an impact on people's lives". Mr Khan said: “International law is not perfect. I'm going to make mistakes. The office will. Justice does everywhere. But we're going to try to effectively build cases so that we get to the truth”. Khan said his team will start with investigating obvious crimes, which he called "low hanging fruit", in an effort to speed up the prosecution. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-europe-61101906
