You clearly claimed pandemics could not be stopped. I clearly gave evidence that an epidemic can be stopped from getting to the stage of being a pandemic, you've got nothing
-
Sure that's why vaccines were also needed for Covid-19, with SARS public health measures was able to stop it.
-
Both COVID-19 and SARS are caused by coronaviruses
-
How did SARS stop? Would you like some further links? "Why did the original Sars epidemic come to end? Well, SARS-CoV-1 did not burn itself out. Rather, the outbreak was largely brought under control by simple public health measures. Testing people with symptoms (fever and respiratory problems), isolating and quarantining suspected cases, and restricting travel all had an effect."
-
No we accept people die, that's why there are measures to try to avoid it. Vaccines do a great job but they are not 100%

If you stand by the shore and watch a ship set off to the horizon, you will start to lose sight of its sails as it goes over the horizon, till eventually it disappears from view altogether. Now send up a drone a few hundred feet in the air and it will be in view again. Why is that? Could it be the earth is a circle or what theory do you flat earthers have on this?

Again you edited and cut my post out of context, I provided real evidence there with facts that they can and do. SARS: how a global epidemic was stopped https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2636331/ EPIDEMICS THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN These stories show that if we invest in global preparedness, epidemics don’t have to happen. https://preventepidemics.org/epidemics-that-didnt-happen/ Five ways to prepare for the next pandemic https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-03362-8 Did you read your own link by the way: They are not saying they cannot be stopped, they are saying it needs resources: The experts said that the cost of preventing future pandemics was likely to be 100 times cheaper than responding to them, "providing strong economic incentives for transformative change".

You cut and edited my post, you claimed: "Actually, I think the people who tragically lost loved ones during the pandemic will generally be among the quickest to get over it." Probably best for you re-think that: COVID-19 orphaned an estimated 7.5 million of those children. Writing in JAMA Pediatrics, researchers cautioned that the consequences for bereaved children can be “devastating,” including traumatic grief, abuse, mental health problems, and poor educational and health outcomes Children Face Long-Term Effects From COVID-19 The loss of a parent is associated with mental-health problems, as well as shorter schooling, lower self-esteem, sexual risk behaviors Helping Children Who Lost a Parent to Covid-19 Hidden Pain states that 5% to 10% of children who lost a parent to COVID-19 will experience "traumatic, prolonged grief that requires clinical If you have something to back up your claims that these kids and people "will generally be among the quickest to get over it." please provide it? Your other claim that pandemics cannot be stopped is also wrong. “Having conspiracy theories proliferating which might put at risk the integrity of an investigation or the safety of those involved is unconscionable.” Andrew Tate arrest: TikTok and Twitter under fire over false posts from fans Social media firms are under fire this weekend for allowing the spread of misinformation by followers of “king of toxic masculinity” Andrew Tate after his arrest in connection with a human trafficking investigation. In the hours after his detention, TikTok and Twitter were flooded with posts falsely claiming he had been freed and conspiracy theories saying he had been set up, Observer analysis shows, Imran Ahmed, chief executive of the Center for Countering Digital Hate, said: “Having conspiracy theories proliferating which might put at risk the integrity of an investigation or the safety of those involved is unconscionable.” https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/jan/01/fans-andrew-tate-king-of-toxic-masculinity-flood-web-arrest -
B/S. How can losing a loved one makes you among the quickest to get over it? A life changing experience in losing a parent is something you can never get over. The future is to avoid the spread of another devastating pandemic that kills millions throughout the world. The devastating consequences of that including to businesses, economies and people. To say people are obsessed, they have every right to be, they don't want it to happen again.

Facing eviction from Seattle office now non payment of rent at SF and being sued. Twitter Sued for Nonpayment of Rent on San Francisco Office December 31, 2022 at 10:28 AM GMT+7 Twitter Inc. was sued for failing to pay $136,250 in rent for its office space in San Francisco. The landlord, Columbia Reit - 650 California LLC, says it notified Twitter on Dec. 16 that it would be in default on its lease for the 30th floor of the Hartford Building in five days unless the rent was paid. Those who lost loved ones probably will, the 8 million + children who lost parents or primary givers almost definitely will.

Canada also just announced neg test required

Racists? The World Health Organisation again urged China’s health officials to regularly share specific, real-time information on the country’s Covid surge, as the UK joined other countries in bringing in travel restrictions, citing a lack of data as the reason. WHO Covid experts met Chinese officials on Friday and “again stressed the importance of transparency and regular sharing of data to formulate accurate risk assessments and to inform effective response”, said the WHO chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. In particular, WHO requested more genetic sequencing data, data on hospitalisations, intensive care unit admissions and deaths – and data on vaccinations delivered and vaccination status, especially in vulnerable people and those over 60 years old.

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital

Fortunately they are getting some of their own medicine back. https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/1609301405843722240 -
The problem being China is just not sharing its covid information any more as it should. Had they been transparent about numbers, deaths and the all important genome sequencing to see which variants are in circulation then I think decisions would be far easier. As it is with no info on that forthcoming then countries are flying blind letting them in.

Apparently not, it seems to have been an old edited vid put out. Fact Check-August 2022 Tucker Carlson interview with Andrew Tate re-shared as if recent An interview in which ex-kickboxer Andrew Tate says he “was not arrested” but “swatted” in Romania dates back to August 2022. Following the detention of Tate and his brother in Romania on Dec. 29, social media users shared an extract of the months-old exchange with Fox News host Tucker Carlson to falsely claim the brothers had been released. https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-tate-carlson-idUSL1N33K17B -

My point was "He's a pure sleaze ball who rakes in millions on the back of offending people." nothing to do with whether he's a criminal or guilty of these particular accusations, I was referring to your defense of him here: "On the other side he does not shy away from telling the truth. Recently I saw (part of) an interview from Piers Morgan with him. A lot of what he said made sense. And some of what he said is what lots of people don't dare to talk about anymore because they are scared that they will be cancelled." I've not seen the interview and can think of nothing worse than doing so, knowing what a slime ball he is and his hate speech leveled at people including Thais is enough for me to dismiss him as a waste of space. Regards his arrest and your comment: "Let's see how this will go on. Will there be real evidence that he committed crimes? Or maybe just more of those MeToo accusations (without evidence)?" Its clear you are already questioning its authenticity despite it involving a group of people being arrested after an 8 month investigation and being given court permission to detain for 30 days. Yes he may be innocent but to try to use a victim card on his defense......... -
Whoever it was will be blaming the bots next...............????

How dangerous is it to drive in Thailand?
Bkk Brian replied to george's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Its the drunk drivers that are a major problem, no matter how you drive or adapt they are the ones responsible for numerous deaths. Seen it so many times, even when doing the school run in the morning, swaying from side to side unable to keep a regular speed. Obviously on their way home from the full night out. -

That's the problem right there, you are NOT paying close attention to the data. From the chart: Now look at the age groups of those that died: In that age group 95% of people are vaccinated, consequently 5% are not. "There are many more vaccinated people than there are unvaccinated people, and vaccinated and boosted people are, on average, older and more likely to have underlying health conditions that put them at risk for severe COVID-19 outcomes" To work out the risk you need to calculate deaths per 100,000 people, considering that 95,000 of them are vaccinated and 5,000 are not. In the case of vaccinated it is 69 dead or 0.074% In the case of unvaccinated it is 12 dead or 0.25% Who is at higher risk of death, vaccinated or unvaccinated? The data clearly shows you are at higher risk of death being unvaccinated in that age group. Where is the data to substantiate your claim: "The claim vaccines saves lives is contrary to the data" Stop spreading misinformation. -
Covid is rife in China as the tourists set off !
Bkk Brian replied to TorquayFan's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
If you want to know more why not go to the source rather than take the word of dodgy websites or a certain UK MP who has already been fact checked? For a mass vaccination campaign of near on the whole UK population its hardly surprising that more people are reporting the most common symptoms of immunization. "reports relate to injection-site reactions (sore arm for example) and generalised symptoms such as ‘flu-like’ illness, headache, chills, fatigue (tiredness), nausea (feeling sick), fever, dizziness, weakness, aching muscles, and rapid heartbeat. Generally, these happen shortly after the vaccination and are not associated with more serious or lasting illness. These types of reactions reflect the normal immune response triggered by the body to the vaccines." If you really want to dig in the data is there, follow the links in the article. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting#analysis-of-data -

The court agreed to hold him, his brother and 2 Romanian men for a further 30 days detention so this investigation must be quite serious. To be honest I'd never even heard of him till this came up but after doing a little research its no wonder the usual suspects are fanboys. What a nasty piece of work. Causing offense seemed to be a passion for him, homophobic, racial slurs and of course his extreme misogynistic rants. In the UK he hang out with anti-Islam activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, known as Tommy Robinson, in the US he appeared on Info Wars hosted by Alex Jones. The reason he moved from the Uk to Romania is because UK police were investigating abuse allegations. "In one video explaining his reasons for the move he suggested it was because it would be easier to evade rape charges." More on this vile character here from an August 2022 article: Inside the violent, misogynistic world of TikTok’s new star, Andrew Tate Andrew Tate says women belong in the home, can’t drive, and are a man’s property. Tate’s private online academy Hustler’s University and a network of copycat accounts on TikTok, has been described by experts as a “blatant attempt to manipulate the algorithm” and artificially boost his content. In less than three months, the strategy has earned him a huge following online and potentially made him millions of pounds, with 127,000 members now paying the £39 a month to join Hustler’s University community, many of them men and boys from the UK and US. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/aug/06/andrew-tate-violent-misogynistic-world-of-tiktok-new-star
