  1. this is obvious and well documented. Please the person who gave the "confused face" reaction come forward and explain what's so confusing about this statement.
  2. A train from China going directly into Thailand is a nightmare. If it carries passengers it has the capacity to ruin entire cities. Horrifying stuff.
  3. that and moo ga ta make me feel sick afterwards every time. It's the most boring thing possible, plain meat (lowest quality) dipped in some sauce over and over again. barf.
  4. Walking in CM sucks and this is from a person who hikes miles in mountains when I'm in USA. You'll be covered in sweat and very few roads have sidewalks. It's ok in the winter (Singapore is still hot probably then?) but even so there's not much walkable area except a few zones. Everyone uses a motorbike for a reason.
  5. curious, what does tropics have to do with it? I'd just rather ride my motorbike than some light rail. Only if I had a daily commute to work I would use it. Oh, if it went to the airport I would use it 1-2 times a year. Hardly worth it.
  6. I blame regime controlled media for the divide and conquer tactics but it's up to Americans to back down and respect their neighbors in other states which I don't seem them doing. Unless the federal government is reduced down 90% and power given back to the states the fighting will continue. Back in Boulder Colorado for one more week. Look what the kids did to my parents sign. 😂
  7. That makes no sense for CM. This must be a pipe dream of some politicians. Hopefully they never start this project and tear up miles of road which will never get completed.
  8. where are they going to run tracks on those roads though? Everything is built right up to the road already so unless they replace an entire lane for the tracks I don't see an option. Traffic is bad enough on those roads and they could spare removing a lane.
  9. This is never going to happen in Chiang Mai. You need transportation to get the light rail and once you're in the city you still need transportation because the city is not walkable and it's too hot to walk anyways (really only tourists walk in CM and they stay inside the city anyways ). I could think of a very few scenarios where this could be useful and even so it would require parking at the train stops outside the city or it would be totally useless. This isn't just me, I see Thai people even less interested in trains when they have personal cars.
  10. I can't believe you passed up on that amazing opportunity. Better luck next time.
  11. Nice try with your new visa scheme but 4,555,262 x 0 = 0. Better luck next time.
  12. Reminds me of the "good evening cowards" guy.
  13. The woman recording the video sounds like she's either orgasming or having a stroke.
  14. RIP but there's not enough information here to learn anything. Was the guy simply on the side of the road and the car plowed in to him? He could have not been familiar with the myriad dangerous driving techniques in Thailand and thought he had the "right of way" which doesn't exist. Maybe he was doing something dangerous and stupid himself.
  15. I've never paid for sex but it seems like a convenient service to be able to get on some app and have a girl come to your house for a little while. Are you a lazy bum if you go out to eat instead of prepare your own meals? Ditto for sex services.
  16. hub of adult entertainment?
  17. This seems like a random incident to be reporting on an expat forum. Was the person in question an expat? or maybe this is a warning, i.e. "we know you were thinking about doing this too but don't try because you're going to get caught".
  18. I don't understand how this is a debate. I pay taxes and I saved about $4000 because the rates DID decline. Are people not in agreement what the tax brackets are? Lowering taxes are basically the only useful thing Republicans will ever do so at least take the win right?
  19. It's a catch 22. The foreigner can not own land but the land is a marital asset and jointly "owned". I don't see the purpose of that document because ultimately the land can only be transferred to another Thai. What "making claims on the land" means is dubious also.
  20. oh I see now. still unlikely not a coincide and I wouldn't vote for him for this reason alone.
  21. Who cares. Tim Walz has a video where he replaces the Minnesota state flag with what appears to be some Somalian flag. That's far more damning than anything else I've seen.
  22. It's the only fair thing really. Think about, some farang buys land with his wife (100% of his money probably) and when they divorce the property is held in control of the Thai but it is still a marital asset so the wife can not hold it either as only 50% belongs to her. The land is then sold to another Thai. Both parties meet their end of the bargain and the land remains in the hands of Thais. The only problem is I see is how the land is sold. In the US a state controlled real estate agent would put it on the market for "fair market value" and mediate the sale but if that doesn't exist in Thailand it could be hell for the 2 parties to agree on the terms of the sale.
  23. Land is interesting because they do make you sign a document stating you can not own the land as a foreigner despite being married but the property is still a joint asset. It almost like the wife owns 50% of it and the other 50% is "unowned". I imagine if you went to court over the property it would be required to liquidated or the wife would have to buy out the foreigner for his share. In theory at least....
  24. More hubs than you can shake a spoke at.
