It does help to read the article, although you are not the only one jumping on the confirmation bias bandwagon.
For those with a low attention span :
- 15 people tested positive with a new test, not recommended by WHO.
Everyone was retested using the RT-PCR method:- 10 negative (plus nothing detected in 49 close contacts)
- 5 awaiting results.
I’m afraid there is no Thai CoVID smoking gun, as yet, based on this report.
This is how I read the article.. some people don't bother to read articles. Or their comprehension is really really poor.

I've told you i have backed off this. I am thinking in a few weeks she will realize this isn't so fun. If not then she is more amazing than I thought. If she lost job I can easily support her and me for the rest of our lives. Sorry some of you are so short on funds. Her getting fired doesn't cause any fear or worry for me.

How would you feel if your fiance works close to 60 hours a week and all of a sudden for 500 baht more needs to work closer to 70? Maybe this is a control issue. You people are all so wrong. A man does not say nothing when his SO is being overworked. Yes she is willing. I learned early on in career to think of myself first at the job. To a boss you are just another tool to make the company money.

Thailand needs to change.
All dogs need shots and collars with collars on and tags of proof. No free roaming dogs allowed. Kill all these wild ones now.

High risk zone?
Yes i see the brainwashing in Thailand is very good. If a worker can not even talk to the manager of a company about issues and you dont see this as bad? Obviously you are to old and forgot how to think for yourself.
I have told you i have stopped trying to influence my fiance on this. I still vehemently disagree on this. I actually even think my email ti this US educated rich business owner would have been beneficial. I think he cares about this long term employee and all of them. I think he would be happy to know she has found a real man who would step in to defend her honor.

Can i inquire as to what % of you guys are looking at jumping through this hassle because of a special woman?
That would be me. 9 months apart and no end in site. Did Romeo have it this hard?

A little off topic but as an American what type of account does the 500 k need to reside in. Is in a 401 k account ok? How long is it taking to get a OA visa? And of course then how long is the COS list to use it? Just looking at ways to visit my woman in case our K1 visa takes to long.
By the way would a k1 application in process preclude getting a OA visa? I don't see how thai embassy would even know about this.
-
Is it the 500,000 or 2 installments booked at condo? Is that a rental installment or a buy installment? Is the 500k need to be in a bank account or in 401 k account ok? I think the first 150 person flight was delayed because of lack of interest or the paperwork processing overwhelmed the applicants or processing staff.

Send her 10 million. Maybe you are man like this. I won't pay for love. It was long time ago I considered her working less. This was when old visa time-line said she could get visa about now and come before 2021. I realize it is big risk for a woman to quit a job. This is planned to be addressed in the prenuptial. Yes i am being cautious but I realize she will be taking a risk. I once talked to a thai woman who quit a government job a few years before qualifying for pension to marry a guy in NY. Then he broke up. She was back in Thailand and did get another government job but I think her future pension may have been scrapped. I admit to still learning thai culture. I admit this issue really surprises me. And I think most western people reading this would be appalled that this is the mindset of what is the working class to company relationships. The fact that it would be terrible for her to even ask to msybe click in for that extra hour or so. Or ask for more than the 17 baht for this extra large disruption in her life. The fact most if not all of you think it improper she should even bring this up with her boss shocks me and leaves a large blackeye on Thailand. No wonder the well to do want too quash down these young people who protest for change.

Well I have never heard of a Thai wanting to work so much. And when I asked my gf she said that perhaps she is a his Mia noi... And that was my first thought to. All Thai want to go back home ASAP. So try to check this more deeply. Gf laughs when I asked her about the culture to stay after work without payment and that thais are shy to ask more. No Thai works for free. Are your wife beautiful, slim, young?
Yes she is slim and attractive . She can't really tell her boss she wants to work less. They work until things are done each day. Its one big team at her work. I think it is a good place. I did consider suggesting she ask boss to hire another person to work half her days. Or tell her to home to isaan. But what could go wrong with that? I've considered having her quit and taking more classroom English classes and even looked into workout classes and or yoga. Im actually surprised yoga classes cost so much in bkk. Same price as here or more 350 baht a class. I do think her busy life has kept her nose clean and why I picked her.. i hate to say it like i picked her.. But you know Thailand has many choices for most men. She has never been on a dating site, doesn't drink doesnt like bars. I actually saw her with friends taking Xmas display pictures after work at Emquartier. I say it was destiny. I saw her 40-50 meters away and didnt even stop but turned a 90 and went right up to her. I didn't let the initial rejection damper my cause and somehow the magic just happened. That 1 look changed my life.. of course I didn't know I was swallowing the hook and then after I was hooked I tried to throw the hook like an 80 # bluefin. But eventually I closed my butterfly ???? wings.
Unfortunately I over analyze everything. I don't think she sleeps with this boss as several of you suggest. Haha. I think he is happily married and if he has a mia noi which a man of his means in Thailand would be expected to have 3 or more he would surely not have an employee.

All so funny.
Thanks for the input everyone. I accept that i was wrong in my thinking.
I am sad that no one even dared suggest she could talk to her boss about this.. its sad that this is so taboo in Thailand. But i must accept. I left Thailand jan 21. Not really much news about corona then. I fully expected to return in 3 months as 90 days is hard enough on long distance relationships. We don't usually line video or chat much in her mornings. She isn't an early riser. Part of my concern. Looking back we should have married then applied for CR1 visa as I have learned this would have maybe been much better than K1 visa. Plus tRump didn't halt CR1 ,like he did k1's. I've taken many long flight to visit this woman past 33 months. Maybe 7-8. But I really wasn't ready to commit until after this Dec Jan visit. Not sure how many of you had to travel minimum 22 to max 33 hours each way before? The jet lag with 14 hours is vicious. How many of you work 60+ hours like my fiance does? How many have tried a long distance, long term relationship?
Her old schedule did not leave much time for shopping or cooking healthy food. Its easier to grab street food. Plus eating at 9 pm after having 10 min lunch break and an apple isn't a healthy lifestyle IMHO. She does get paid for overtime for late nights. Bkk Bad air and covid has stopped her jogging. I have many years experience with how an extra hour or 2 of work in my fiances day effects this woman's and thus our life and relationship.
I realize I am lucky to have found such a hard working gal. I have listened to the advice that she gets satisfaction knowing she is only 1 or 3 people trusted with security alarm code. This seems to be key. The boss is a good one.
How stupid is the comment I should get married so she can quit work. We can't see each other now because of travel restrictions. But even then would it be fsster to cancel a k1 230 dsys in snd pay another 16,000 baht to start a CR1? In my life a woman doesn't get married to quit working. We don't plan on children for several reasons and she has none. A woman like this would have a hard time not working at a rewarding job. Its one of my biggest fears as she won't be able to work for 6-9 months waiting for her green card. I think we can keep her busy
She needs to learn to mountain bike. Hike, ski, garden. Drive etc.
Yes i could support us both if that was needed. I do plan on her going to spend a month with mom before coming to USA. Its highly likely she can travel here before i can travel there.. ive looked into meetung in turkey but the 2 week quarantine for her amd everything is daunting. Maybe i will try the STV if they actually get the details figured out.. looking st rising case numbers in my area and all of USA i think it will be late 2021 @earliest. I dont blame thsi people. I actually don't want Thailand to open up to tourists as my fismces life is near normal. I figure it is best for her to continue the life she has had that made her into such a special woman. Yes "I think she is different" haha. I have read as much of the horror stories and gf advice on TV as anyone. I have had farang with lots of experience in Thailand advice me. I read private dancer and 1000 hours at least. I met many nice woman in Thailand. Several wealthy ones. I feel this is my destiny. I will be cautious but also enjoy the ride. I cant believe my thinking was so far off on this issue. Really not 1 reply in support. But I can admit I mske mistakes. I still think this is a sad commentary on the workers life in Thailand. Gf and i have talked about this issue and we are both happy that I will let her do it her way.

I question who they asked, how they chose the participants, and how they asked the questions. It's not the sample size in question. It's very adequate. That's how statistics and sampling work.
so go do your own poll. See how much effort it is to get 100 people to take a poll. Also why your at it learn some statistics.

Why do so many of you want to just let the borders open and surely the virus loose? What is yiur motivation? No one has more motivation than me. 9 months apart from fiance but I dont want the largest part of the thai economy to be slowed down be another wave of covid. And its not harmless even if you recover many patients have lasting damage. You guys seem brainless but I don't understand your motivation. Why you so worried about businesses in tourism sector unless your in this business...all you covid naysayers need to reveal your conflicts of interest.

Most thai's are worried tourism will being back covid and im sure it will. Just one case can cause another shutdown. Its time for TAT to just say sorry. We are not letting tourists back until the World gets a grip on covid. Maybe a year. Sorry,to all those on the ripoff industry. 7 day, 5 day just no way people want to risk getting covid to travel to trash hewn Thailand. Your days over. I predict it maybe 4 years to hit 4 million tourists a year. Start furlough for all the IO that worked the lines at swampy.

Ok, it appears there are no labor laws to prevent a boss from firing a worker for asking for more compensation. I have told her leew tae khuṇ. I will let her do as she wishes for a few weeks and see how it effects our long distance Connection. I need to chill i guess. Sometimes a few obstacles and the current politics effects your calmness.

Yes a k1 marriage visa is a big step in life. Marriage and Bringing an Asian gal to USA? I read all the risks. I just I will tell her to do what she wants and see how it goes for a couple weeks and if I don't like things I will tell her to stop unlocking and I will send her 3000 baht.

Can't delete the quote.
I would figure she was making 500 baht an hour at 10 mins 30 days for 2500 baht. But working im 10 min increments can't be compared to hourly but if we continue along this line of reasoning she now gets 3000 for 25 min time x 30 days or 240 baht per hour.
Both offices were very nice. Yes one is new but some disadvantages for the staff and customers.
I'm glad I asked because I evidently was way out of line thinking about this.
I do think both boss and employee are grateful for each other in this case. I dont think she has risk of losing her job over some bargaining or stopping this special task that she has done for many years for the company.

Yes it is hard being apart so long due to travel restrictions. In our case the typical K1 visa timeliness of 280 days is now looking like 600 days. And not all the delay is covid related if you are uo on the currect administrations feelings on immigrants? Our longest time apart in 3 years. No kids or married so a bit different situation. I didnt need to send money so she would quit working in the bar. Of course I give her gifts or send some money sometimes. I just read so much advice not to send a monthly amount. I'm glad I have never started that. I work hard preparing for our future together. I'm not thinking she will become a business suit woman. I just didn't know it would be so unpopular to meet with her boss to discuss how 500 baht doesn't equal the new demands. I rather start sending her a steady 3000 on top of what I do and have her tell her boss to find someone else. I'm hoping in the morning I will get some replies of support.
I know this increase in work hours will negatively impact our relationship and future because sometimes a co worker is absent for a funeral and the extra hours she works then ceases English learning, and exercise, and healthy eating. I am worried about her cholesterol level just like a thai womsn is worried if i was to drink to much or gamble. When she works extra hours for a coworker she is to tired to do the minimum required to keep a long distance relationship healthy. Im quite proud we have survived 33 months but it is not without massive effort on both partners parts. Many of you have no idea about western life or long distance relationships. In the West we question our elders and bosses and those in power. Luckily the youth of Thailand are starting to do this.
I should add that I doubt she would lose her job over asking for more or deciding to end this morning door unlocking. But if she did I could fully support her. I feel her hand of cards in this deal is strong. No one else so stupid or lives close enough to do this job every day except on official vacation days plus stay until the last person leaves to cover for the man if he is out.. in fact I will remind her that the man probably is on the clock until he leaves at night.

I'm clueless for suggesting she ask for some increase in payment more in line with the additional sacrifice? If she worked 40-45 hour weeks is one thing but I think its closer to 60+ now.
So its totally against Thai culture to ask a boss for more money?

Maybe your fiancé doesn't want to be a business woman. Maybe she just wants to be an employee, and to keep her job when millions around the globe are losing theirs.
And from your last sentence here it sounds like you're more p'd off because she won't be contributing enough to your retirement pot?
By being business woman I mean to be bold enough to ask for fair pay. She is like most Thai workers it appears. Hard working and enjoys a good days work. Her having a job and good hard, dependable work ethic is one reason of many I chose her.. when I say she could use this time in a better way i don't mean doing some other job. If This extra time will only generate 17 baht and knowing how tired she gets during long sometimes lunch less days and 6 days in a row I dont want her to add any more time to her work day unless it pays very well. Otherwise she can use this time to keep improving her English, or eating healthier or exercising all which will provide much more future benefit than 17 baht. I think it is hard to eat healthy if you dont have time. And she already works to many hours.
I admit I always think about financial things. My mind always considers the cost benefit on every decision I make..
I just believe she is more valuable than she thinks and can ask for more. Taking a 6:55 am 10 min early morning walk round trip to unlock the old building and sometimes going back to bed and then leaving for work at 8:15 and sometimes working until 8:30pm is one thing. But leaving at 6:45am and then being at work for 90 min before punching in for 17 baht extra and then not getting home until 8:45pm is crazy. Yes I will ask her to stop this extra job if she won't ask for more. I dont see this as controlling. I see this as caring ❤. You guys are trying to put blame on me for looking at the facts. I say its types like her boss that are what's wrong with this situation and Thailand.

So tell her to quit and I send support? What she do? go live at home? Just loaf around? What could go wrong. I have listened to advice and felt it very important to not send her support every month like many farang do. She even gets asked often how much bf send? I think it is mostly the bargirl type customers who ask this. It seems many guys send 30k/mo or more. Ots almost a bragging thing it seems. She even told one i send 20,000 baht. Which is so not true. She is proud to "stand her own 2feet".
I cant believe I am so wrong in my thinking on this. Maybe all the sane people are asleep You? You all have me feeling sick. 100% in support of her doing all this extra each day for 17 Baht. How many of you would give up 20% of your free non working or sleeping time for 17 baht?

Is'nt that exactly what the boss is doing?
Yes he is being businessman. I tell my fiance to be businesswoman. I just feel my fiance can be doing something else more valuable to our future rather than making extra 17 baht a day. Even if asking for the moon results in the boss finding another person to do this 3000 baht job. I told her if he does this I will send her this much. She is very frugal and says we need to save money for our future. Im just perplexed by her reluctance to even ask for more. Her old wslk was so close and half covered by awnings in case of rain. New walk is a flooding nightmare in rain like last week.

This is how I read it. So after 7 days they can roam in some areas of the hotel. So on day 12 someone tests positive then what? They all redo 14 day in room quarantine? How often are these hotel staff tested, food service, cleaning service. Read a report virus can stay on a person's skin6 days. These hotel workers as well as all health care workers need hazard pay
