How can you make such outrageous claims? It's universally agreed among both tourists and expats here that the roads are as safe as the nurseries in the Kingdom, especially in family-friendly Pattaya. Seriously though, thanks. You made me chuckle. In other breaking news, the sun will go down tonight but come back tomorrow morning. During this crucial time driving without lights make the roads slightly more dangerous.

Thai man demands responsibility for explosion after fridge repair
RocketDog replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Indeed, it's commonly called 'sewer gas' or 'swamp gas' and in mines 'firedamp'. In the 1800's it was used for streetlamps powered by sewer tanks under the streets. Needless to say there were frequent explosions. Of course we've all heard about cow farts and as youngsters we lit our own farts with a lighter (yes, it did singe our asses). Gross I know, but we did it gleefully. All the uses of Methane! Butane and propane are close cousins having two or three carbon atoms respectfully, bonded to hydrogen; Much less volatile than Methane. -

Methane much more likely cause than hydrogen sulfide. -
I just saw a man driving a wheel.

Wonder how gas cost compares to hospital cost when he "really raks up". -
It's a way of talking about the need for redundancy. The whole saying is: Two is one and one is none. It's a common meme in critical application technology.

My Thai Lady scans the receipts before we leave Makro too. I respect her for that and don't complain. BUT... occasionally we spend 15 minutes correcting a 3 baht error. I just can't be concerned about a few baht either way. Life is too short.

Understood. I lived my life in America until I moved here. I was always aware that there were small fringe groups with crazy ideas, but the numbers that support that useless man far surpass any understanding I ever had. The tragedy is that such a group, ~30% of voters, was able to elect the scum once. But if done again I am forced to indict all Americans.

My greatest fear is that they won't wake up. The Cheeto being prez again would be a tragedy. What bothers me the most however would be the twice proven fact that those that worship him, though a minority), will vote and the rest don't care or are just too lazy to vote. Either way it means I can no longer relate to most of the people in America. I never regretted moving to the Kingdom 6 years ago, but now it seems like a prudent move. I'll return in April to sell my last hard assets in America. I'll keep my credit cards and a bank account, but otherwise pulling up roots for good. I'll make my last stand here.

How to translate a document written in Thai to English?
RocketDog replied to scorecard's topic in General Topics
Only if the scan is put through OCR first to change from an image to recognizable text. Like Adobe and other PDF editors there is an OCR option that you can choose to use with Thai language. OP : If you want to PM me and I can probably process it for you. Handwritten Thai may not process well though. -
Thank you. When these threads come up I always post the same as you. I figured it out years ago from a post by the late, great @UbonJoe. Then I did it myself several times when renting a house. Never had any pushback from the IO. The second half of the TM30 is filled by the 'Possesor' of the property. For rentals that is the renter themselves. For some reason this simple answer just keeps being forgotten.

The shortest words in English : Is it in?

Obscure topic but I'll bite. There are many trees and even some nice swinging vines in the Kingdom, but NEVER trust any ropes or bungie cords made here, or in China. Wear gloves too. Be safe out there Bob.

I recognize her. That's Ruby Redpalm and her five sisters. Good times.

Yes, they do check, or should do, so this should not happen. Renewing your USA passport in Thailand is much faster than doing it in USA. I did mine last year. It took 8 days for the new one to arrive at my house by post. Remember to update the new passport with your banks and other relevant entities.

7-11 takes 1000-Baht-bill for 100 Baht, shortchanges - your take?
RocketDog replied to henrik2000's topic in General Topics
My experience too. I advise learning the Thai number system and announcing the amount you are giving them BEFORE you hand it over. Look them in the eye when telling them. So they know that you know, and anybody else standing around knows, what you have given them. Fair warning is what you have actually given them. -
Exactly correct. As you probably already do: Use an engine that doesn't track you and call home. DuckDuckGo for instance. Get a new browser too, one focused on privacy. Brave, Ghostery, etc. Chrome is a data omnivore. Divorce Google. completely. The Gmail EULA clearly states that Google may and does read every word of your mail. I won't do more than mention social media; I think everybody knows where they're at by now.

No, "It is simply inane to watch somebody walking outside in an area.......... " Too much time on your hands lately? To be clear, it creates a sense of fear and dread in you. Please do not take it upon yourself to describe the thoughts of the general Thai population. You are simply projecting your own concerns onto a population that you are not culturally part of. You were in such a hurry to publish your own bias against masks that you drafted the rest of the country into your imaginary army. I like coats in cold weather too, as do most people. Read my comment again to see that you are jousting at a windmill. I generally like your comments on these forums, but you've got pooh on your shoes this time.

I was not replying to your post. Relax.

Why is this a good thing? Why does a complete stranger wearing a mask affect you in any way? Do you seek a sense of power to see others agreeing with you? Do you feel threatened by those who don't? I'm just curious why you care at all about innocuous things that have no impact on your life, unless of course you happen to believe that masks are effective against disease and pollution in many cases. Is there never a place/time to wear a mask? How do you feel about coats worn in warm weather? Chewing gum? Wearing a hat? Shorts in cold weather? Sandals with socks? Beards? The thing that gets me upset is T-shirts with misspelled English words on them. Agreed?
