Gotta love those rat tails and chicken lips. Finger lickin' good!

So you muddle and obscure the main point of the thread to satisfy your own personal emotional issues about a dictionary definition ? Well done and clearly much appreciated by all. Now just let it go please.

American settlement

I sold a rental property in Denver two years ago remotely from Thailand. All done with Docusign app. No embassy inputs necessary. Smooth as glass. Good luck! -
Luxembourg family demands justice after fatal road accident
RocketDog replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Indeed. The young couple were 'dead' right. Bottom line : don't get on a bike and you won't die on one. That said, even being within sight of any highway/road/lane/trail here offers multiple opportunities to meet a brutal end. -
Of course we remember. I'm sure that most members here save all your posts and review them regularly.

Thailand's Immigration Launches Automated Passport Control

Eight long paragraphs to say they are installing some new machines at the airport that will speed departures. Lean times I guess. -

Chinese police operating in other countries is nothing new
RocketDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that your statement makes some kind of sense to you. Sounds like word salad to the rest of us. Where did you learn this trick? Nevermind, I think I know. -
Chinese police operating in other countries is nothing new
RocketDog replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is safe to assume that the CCP will use whatever means necessary to grow their influence, of every type, in as many other countries as possible. All the explanations about language assistance, tourist protection, etc are simply ruses that the CCP believes will suffice to gain entry of their ranks into foreign countries. The CCP considers every aspect of life as a battleground and wage their war continually in every way possible. The best way to think about it is this: If it benefits the CCP it will weaken their adversaries (the entire world). It is a zero sum game for the CCP and they intend to win it on every possible front. -

Your Mic is Open and Google is Listening
RocketDog replied to Chris Daley's topic in IT and Computers
Ah, nope. A local processor in Alexa listens for a particular phrase. Then it's starts streaming audio to remote servers. That is what Google claims, and while I tend to doubt it, it's feasible. Personally I purged everything Google two years ago, including my email. It took nearly two weeks to find and break all my associations. I've taken great efforts to remove myself as nearly as possible from at least casual web searches, and have been successful at that. I moved to ghostery Dawn browser, and only use DuckDuckGo search engine. I have no illusions that I can't be tracked, but I do all I can to thwart it. In some bright future maybe laws will prevent such data theft, but I'm not holding my breath. Like so many things that are upside down in our world today, this will persist as along as the majority of people blithely accept it. "I don't care because I have nothing to hide". This phrase especially sticks in my craw. I bet they don't walk around naked though! -
As the CCP has done in multiple western countries, they are essentially opening a Chinese police station that allows them to track and harass Chinese citizens or expats just as if they were in China. Canada and the USA have already shut down some of them and other countries are now taking notice. This another gambit, like confuscious institutes that exist at so many universities globally. These too are coming under scrutiny. Nothing good will come of this even if they actually deport a few Chinese national criminals. This just a pretext for increasing chinese influence in the southeast Asian sphere. When will the world wake up to global threat that the CCP represents?

That is precisely what I recommended yesterday. They should be forceably banned from the thread they are using for their childish behavior. This would eventually mean that the worst offenders would only be able to post on a given thread a few times. Of course if this becomes too much of a chore for the moderators they could just ban them from all the forums except for one named 'idiot drivel', which the mods should create. On that forum the idiots can insult/flame/bore/anger each other endlessly while sparing the rest of us their pueril blithering.

Queers for Palestine is apparently a thing

Ah. Good point. Yes, it is. But if I want discordant noise I'll just put a Thai station on the radio. -

Agreed. The video is trash. -

Once again, two individuals dominate a thread with their incessant bickering, impenetrable to the rest of us. Acting like school children. This is a primary reason for the deterioration we've all noticed on AN. The mods should limit such ping-pong nonsense to a few stupid volleys before banning the idiots involved. I read the first ten posts and abandoned the thread as trash. -
Good post. What ruins a good thread faster than anything though is the multipage bickering between repliers that devolve into ad hominem attacks. When the bored and boring topics from posters you named gets monotonous I can just move on. When these are the only posters then I just skip AN entirely. Lately I've been skipping several days. Maybe some of us simply grow past needing /wanting the content, but surely the nonsense topics and replies are a deterrent to even opening AN to start with. If I just want background noise I turn on a radio. Nobody opens a forum page to read background drivel. For whatever reasons, the caliber of the AN forums is rapidly deteriorating. I just don't care enough to make an in-depth study of why it's failing. If I had a financial interest in the forum though I would sure as hell be paying more attention.

Humans are just not like that. We're hardwired for curiosity, even if it is fatal. If it's possible, humans WILL do it, good or bad. War has no good points either but it's been waged since the very beginning of intelligence in monkeys. It's a blessing and a curse. Unfortunately it has brought us inevitably to the mess we find ourselves in now: a train wreck in slow motion. Might as well just sit back and enjoy the ride.
