  1. I don’t think it would matter as the Thais would be able to buy alcohol some where, the ‘uprising’ would be with the foreigners who appear can’t go a few days with out consuming alcohol.
  2. TPN co owner Adam Judd mentioned the other week on his news programme Police might enforce the 2pm to 5pm alcohol ban during Songkran, I haven’t heard anything since though ?
  3. Currently free but once a few get ‘sucked’ in there will be a fee to pay, nothing in life is free.
  4. I believe the reason it was not extended was to discourage more Russians arriving for long stay some whom are draft dodging, rather than upset Russia by banning flights totally from Russia like Europe and other countries in the world.
  5. Only the other day Thailand signed an extradition treaty with Russia, coincidence ? https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/policies/40025716
  6. I was out walking yesterday around 3.30pm Thai man got of his motor bike and urinated at the side of the road, not the first time I have seen it either.
  7. Therefore the flights are basically empty on the return journey ?
  8. I drink Guinness in Cheap Charlie’s, it was 199 baht but now 209 baht the cheapest elsewhere is 240 baht. I have never tried the food but judging by the number of customers when I go around 4/5 o’clock it must be reasonably good. I can’t see how if some one eats there regularly the owner is making money ?
  9. You obviously have never been hit in the face/eye with dirty water like I have, stupid farang ‘loaded’ his water pistol from the gutter and deliberately aimed it at my face. I had to be physically restrained or I would have knocked the fella out, grown men with water pistols obviously had a deprived upbringing.
  10. TBH will many people actually pay the high air fares for Songkran
  11. The people will just travel from Bangkok and let rip in Pattaya. Pattaya sees Songkkran as a big money earner..
  12. I had a walk down Soi 7 and 8 yesterday around 5.30 most of the bars were empty, the ones on Beach Road had few customers.
  13. Did they check the licences at the places selling cannabis products ?
  14. It would be great if it was only the 13th to the 15th of April but it isn’t here in Pattaya, a week of madness and drunkenness.
  15. I have used Bolt for several months in Pattaya but of recent there has been many long wait times which end up in a cancellation. I think it’s down to lack of drivers, the drivers thought it was an easy way to make money but now realise they can get stuck in the traffic and the low fares don’t cover their costs.
  16. Ban the sale and use of powder and water pistols, confiscate if people already have them.At least that would stop the eye infections.
  17. There would be a few Immigration officers selling houses and cars in the Retirement Visa was changed massively along with Visa Agents.
  18. Having been in Thailand a few years there isn’t many rich retirees, most have been hard working people possibly divorced/single with enough money to life a comfortable life here in a decent climate. I think Thailand is becoming less attractive to retirees and the number is declining. The government has to be careful don’t kill the goose that has laid the golden over the years
  19. I think the well heeled are only a small minority and year on year Thailand is trying to attract more of the well heeled with out much success. As for losing credibility that wouldn’t bother them. If some one could publish a book where farangs have lost their life savings or part of that would indicate how much credibility the Thais have towards foreigners.
  20. I can see the 800k going up but not to 3 million, there would be a mass exodus leaving many Thai families unsupported and loads of empty rental properties and possibly even crashing the housing sales market.
  21. There is nothing you could if there was a change of policy or government and the visa could be cancelled at a moments notice writing of several thousand pounds, the Thais have been known to flip flop. The Extension of Stay gives you the flexibility year on year for what you want to do, 20 years is long time to think what you are going to do, you never know what’s round the corner.
  22. If you are over 50 years old I don’t think many would want to pay out nearly £50k for a 20 year Elite Visa not knowing what their life expectancy might be.
  23. Possibly not being able to access 800k and receive any interest on it.
  24. If your in a position to write of 60000 baht for a 5 year visa fair enough but if over 50 retirement visa every time for me, it’s no big deal 90 day reports and 1900 baht a year to extend.
