  1. The only drink I ever put ice in is whisky, I have colleagues here who put ice in their beer, no idea why, it just dilutes it and ends up like water !
  2. TBH I can’t disagree, I was sitting in an open bar drinking Guinness and unless you drank it very quick it started to warm up, might be different in a bar with AC though.
  3. TBH it was fine, I have had better but some times it depends how it is kept and poured, the biggest issue is in this temperature it soon loses its chill.
  4. Why what’s wrong with Cheap Charlie’s, I found the place to be spotless and very helpful staff or are you hi so ?
  5. Cheap Charlie’s has just had Guinness installed currently 209 baht a pint which is very reasonable priced as I have seen a half in some bars advertised slightly less for a half pint. There appears to be fluctuating prices for a pint going from the sublime to damn right expensive. I believe the Guinness sold in Thailand is brewed in Asia, what I can’t understand is why they never sell draught Guinness in a can. I am sure there is a huge market in Thailand for it, it’s just under 5% so won’t attract a great deal of import tax ?

  7. If I remember I used an agent to transfer my visa, 300 baht no letter required.
  8. The majority of the chancers will be people who paid into system so I can’t fault them for getting the extra few quid considering if you never work a day in your life you qualify for the full pension and can apply for other benefits.
  9. 75% of U.K. citizens have a Passport, no idea about Thailand, I paid several trips to the Passport Office in Pattaya to check out how busy it was. Every time mobbed, they only do 200 a day. I then discovered you can apply online for an appointment, it’s easy to do, it’s in Thai and English. I was surprised when we went there were long lines at the counters yet no one at the appointment counter.
  10. We have just renewed my Wife and sons Thai Passport, we made an online appointment for Thursday at the The Avenue Pattaya. When we arrived there the place was mobbed. Straight to Counter 1, waited 5 minutes then called through, 5 year for my son he cannot have a 10 year one till he is 20 years old 1000 baht, wife 10 years 1500 baht, 40 baht EMS for post. We were in the office for around 20 minutes. The Passports arrived today Saturday, now that’s what I call a good service.
  11. On a B.A. flight I mentioned to the Flight Attendant that it was cold in the aircraft, she replied probably because we are flying very up, she was blond !
  12. They did exactly the same test in the U.K. as BPH, flashing dots, photos, etc I had a head scan in the U.K. as well which was clea. The eye specialist in the U.K. a Muslim lady appeared harassed, I came away from the hospital none the wiser. I received a letter a few days later to say come back in a year for another check up in. This time. It was during Covid and I had made all the arrangements via the Thai embassy in London to come back here with my wife, she was on 6 month visa but I managed to extend it a few times over a 15 month period. In hindsight I should have asked for a second opinion but in the U.K. getting appointments isn’t straight forward as a GP has put forward a request for a consultation, at the time there was a huge backlog so I could have been waiting for months. I think I will go Jomtien this time, the eye consultant at BPH emailed the other with an appointment but I cancelled it.
  13. I am a bit dubious about the diagnosis for my glaucoma, I had deteriorating eyesight, I had all the test done in the U.K.,no glaucoma was detected. the NHS couldn’t find a reason why. 18 months later BPH diagnosed glaucoma ?
  14. I have glaucoma as well as cataracts, the consultant admitted having the cataracts done probably won’t make my vision much better maybe just clearer. It makes me reluctant to spend money when there could be little or no difference to my vision.
  15. Where was your at what hospital was the special price of 38000 ?
  16. Is Jomtien Hospital near Big C South Pattaya ?
  17. I was quoted a ‘special’ price at BPH of 68000 baht for 1 eye, what was the cost at Jomtien ?
  18. The new water pump was over 7000 baht, find one at 300 baht and I buy a few.
  19. I thought Jo then Hospital was the same group as Bangkok Pattaya Hospital ?
  20. Not enough staff is the problem, loads were made redundant during Covid now they can’t get them back.
  21. I would imagine staff shortage, they would need 2 sets of staff with one taking over for the return flight after staying in Bangkok. There is currently a shortage of staff so if B.A. can accommodate their passengers on other flights they will do until the staff shortage is resolved.
  22. I think they start at 9 finish at 3, I got my 3rd one at Royal Garden Plaza but it was through the City hospital. The only reason I used BPH is I had already paid for it upfront.
  23. Remember to take your Passport, there is the usual paper trail to complete and sign, when I paid for mine in January you had to use LINE Pay, the lady on reception used her account and I gave her the cash,it was 1650 baht then but has since been reduced in price. I am sure you can now go to the City Hospital on Soi Bukhao and it’s free, Pfizer.
  24. B.A. I believe still have 1 flight a day freight only, we flew with KLM a year ago, 20 people on a 777, I spoke with one of the cabin staff asking why KLM can afford to fly empty planes, he replied they were full with freight which they make more money from than passengers.
