  1. I have used Bolt for several months in Pattaya but of recent there has been many long wait times which end up in a cancellation. I think it’s down to lack of drivers, the drivers thought it was an easy way to make money but now realise they can get stuck in the traffic and the low fares don’t cover their costs.
  2. Ban the sale and use of powder and water pistols, confiscate if people already have them.At least that would stop the eye infections.
  3. There would be a few Immigration officers selling houses and cars in the Retirement Visa was changed massively along with Visa Agents.
  4. Having been in Thailand a few years there isn’t many rich retirees, most have been hard working people possibly divorced/single with enough money to life a comfortable life here in a decent climate. I think Thailand is becoming less attractive to retirees and the number is declining. The government has to be careful don’t kill the goose that has laid the golden over the years
  5. I think the well heeled are only a small minority and year on year Thailand is trying to attract more of the well heeled with out much success. As for losing credibility that wouldn’t bother them. If some one could publish a book where farangs have lost their life savings or part of that would indicate how much credibility the Thais have towards foreigners.
  6. I can see the 800k going up but not to 3 million, there would be a mass exodus leaving many Thai families unsupported and loads of empty rental properties and possibly even crashing the housing sales market.
  7. There is nothing you could if there was a change of policy or government and the visa could be cancelled at a moments notice writing of several thousand pounds, the Thais have been known to flip flop. The Extension of Stay gives you the flexibility year on year for what you want to do, 20 years is long time to think what you are going to do, you never know what’s round the corner.
  8. If you are over 50 years old I don’t think many would want to pay out nearly £50k for a 20 year Elite Visa not knowing what their life expectancy might be.
  9. Possibly not being able to access 800k and receive any interest on it.
  10. If your in a position to write of 60000 baht for a 5 year visa fair enough but if over 50 retirement visa every time for me, it’s no big deal 90 day reports and 1900 baht a year to extend.
  11. I hope they do and introduce strict controls so cannabis actually only is to be used for medicinal purpose as it was initially not a free for all that every man and his sell on the open market. Thailand is already infamous for a few things let’s not add making cannabis freely available.
  12. Yes illegal where there is more than a certain number of residents in a condo. But if you question the owner would probably put the rent up.
  13. Plenty of Thai culture a couple of weeks after that, Songkran !
  14. Christmas presents for all the Police families, why don’t they donate to a childrens charity or to homeless people ?
  15. I was there last year, I can’t remember seeing any ony one with out one, taxi driver said the Police strictly enforce it.
  16. Like many airports in the world, ground staff were laid off during Covid, they have now found more suitable employment and won’t return. Speaking to the staff on a KLM flight that was the problem at Schipol and has led to flight changes and cancellations. As long as the situation remains the same irrespective of the oil price the cost of flights won’t be reducing in the near future.
  17. I fink they are plenty of girls available on the net and much better looking than taking a girl from a bar paying exorbitant prices for their drinks and bar fines, the 2 week tourist might do.
  18. Not according to the Canadian Embassy, 30 day stamp Visa Exempt, tourism only.
  19. I went to Da Nang in October 2022 UK citizen no visa required, 15 day stamp for tourism. Some friends went to Phu Quoc a few weeks ago UK citizens no visa required.
  20. The traditional connection passed away a few years back, the new connection doesn’t have the same respect.
  21. 8 years since the last coupe, lots of more people eligible to vote, I can’t see them standing back and allow another army government.
  22. It was an ill thought out decision, make it illegal again, there are enough problems with one legal drug alcohol. No one knows the long term side effects of continued use of cannabis but we do with alcohol.
  23. No where but it needs to be regulated, it was legalised for medical purposes but now it’s a free for all. Yes the Thai government is known for flip flopping so anything could happen after the next election. If one of the major companies in Thailand was behind all the shops selling cannabis money might talk but they are all independent. The tobacco companies who are opposing E-cigarettes could also do the same with cannabis because currently it’s sold tax free.
  24. As far as I know there is no tax on selling cannabis albeit you have apply for a licence to grow or sell so how is the Thai government making money from it ?
