  1. Thanks ML, I hear ya loud and clear, but if and when I hit the rocks, I will grab a ret ext again. Yes of course, they are cheap and reliable but just wondering why bother doing ret ext's (and assoc. paperwork) if not needed.
  2. I have always renewed my Non O 12 month extensions to stay based on retirement but the TGF and I are now travelling abroad approximately every 50 days. The new 60 day visa means I don’t need to bother renewing my Ret Extensions, so just wondering if I can expect any problems down the track if I ditch doing the yearly retirement extensions until if and when Thailand ever changes their 60 day visas on arrival back to 30 days? Edit: I'm not looking for any suggestions for another type of visa, instead just want to know if I can expect problems with immigration by continually leaving and arriving every 50 days.
  3. It won’t be a gift, it’s payment for accommodation - as already explained above.
  4. As already mentioned in this thread I won’t be exchanging anything. That’s being done by others. Please scroll up and read what was posted before asking more already-asked-and-answered questions.
  5. How wrong you are. I know Koh Chang very well and it's as boring as batsh!t after a week.
  6. Great that you like permanently living the very quiet life on an island as small as Koh Chang. Many others do also, many don’t. Koh Chang will remain a holiday destination for me. Definitely a nice spot to getaway and relax at …but just for a week! Give me the city life over an island life, please GOD! 🙏
  7. Koh Chang is indeed heaven - for a holiday of about 1 week duration. But living there forever more? Oh my God, never!
  8. Yes there is. In fact, over 10,000 of them. Google is your friend.
  9. Yes, so do you have any advice for them?
  10. New ladyboy bars are no longer allowed to be added at Nana Plaza.
  11. Try using their website (not their app) on your laptop/PC (not on your phone) with a VPN. You’re now back under the radar!
  12. He's right. The 60 day visa has ruined the joint.
  13. Why not? The TGF will be with me and she has a highly paid respectable job, as does all of her siblings. They all travel abroad often.
  14. Large amounts? That wasn’t mentioned. Presumes and mights noted.
  15. “Aggressive”?? lol. You’ve incorrectly assumed large amounts.
  16. You are wrong. I will not be exchanging anything. That will be done by my Thai GF and/or her family.
  17. If on the OAP, the pension supplement reactivates upon your arrival back to Aus for 6 weeks, this pays for the flights - which are cheap again. The much better exchange rate (when bringing in your own cash compared to what the financial institutions give you) also helps pay for the air fares.
  18. Fly back to Aus every time you need cash. Bring back the folding stuff, but don't put it in your Thai bank. Instead, keep it under the bed and buy everything in cash. Rinse and repeat when it runs out. Never pay the tax you mention. Just a thought!
  19. Wrong!!! Here's official proof that in ASEAN (and of course everywhere else) pick-ups are categorised as a car - definitely not as a truck - 555 "With regard to the regional best-selling cars ranking and cumulative sales up to May 2024, the leadership is still in the hands of the Toyota Hilux, produced in Thailand, ahead of its competitors with 74,691 units sold (-18.1%), followed closely by the Isuzu D-Max with 53,752 cumulative sales (-30.6%). 20. Thanks mate, I think I will do the same as them. Also, can you or they confirm how many pension supplement payments they receive when returning back to Aus and leaving again soon after? Someone once told me the answer is 6, but not sure if that's 6 payments or 6 weeks: 3 (fortnightly) payments...
  21. Just found out yesterday that if you receive a benefit you are supposed to tell Centrelink if you intend to leave the country, regardless of duration. So immediately went onto the Centrelink app, and yep, they have a section where you enter in your impending overseas details. Wondering if better to pretend I never saw this and let immigration tell them instead...
  22. It maybe 183 days …or it maybe 45 days every 3 years (needed to be in Aus to be considered a resident for tax purposes). If 183 days? Then yes, big problem for many. If 45 days every 3 years? Not as big as a problem for many.
