BTW, were I living in the US, I would have been inclined to vote for Biden. A summary of how I see Biden/Trump. With Harris now injected. Industrial policy: Biden has done well here. Reshoring and increasing industry where Trump utterly failed to complete his promises. (But that isn't making my dollar stronger.) Medical expenses: Biden did well capping prices for medicine. But there should have been Medicare for all. And non-citizens should not be eligible for any medical program or subsidy at all. (But that isn't making my dollar stronger.) Inflation: Biden has brought the inflation rate back down. But he and Trump with their Covid spending both were responsible for the spike in the first place. Biden has also flooded the country with illegal labor to cut wages and bring down inflation. Not to mention draining the strategic oil reserve. (But this only made my dollar marginally stronger.) The Border: a catastrophe. And everybody knows it. Overwhelming the country with 3-4 million border crossers is the equivalent of a cultural neutron bomb. And spending money on them has deepened the deficit. (This made my dollar weaker.) Ukraine and Israel: I support both countries and think Biden has acted correctly to back both of them, although I fear Harris is a terrorist appeaser. (But this isn't making my dollar stronger.) Taiwan: I think that neither Biden-Harris or Trump will do a thing to defend Taiwan or the Philippines. Both fear China openly. Trump is probably worse about buckling under to Xi. (This marginally weakens my dollar.) Interest rate policy: Biden-Harris cut rates prematurely to juice the economy with a sugar high. QE is next. (THIS is destroying my dollar.)

Hysteria on your part. Grasping for the peso? Laughable. https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/dxy/charts

Finally, the verdict is in. For me. I've always stated that the one factor determining my vote was dollar devaluation. Now that Biden-Harris has devalued my retirement funds coming into Thailand by almost 10 percent, the decision is clear. I will vote against Harris. No matter who. Not matter what. Her policies are taking money out of my pocket.

If the answer is requiring Thais and other people to get a PhD in dog ownership, you're talking about a lost cause. Get rid of these dogs. If somebody wants a dog, there are plenty of other varieties that are companionable, protective, and above all safe from killing random strangers. Pit bulls need to be eradicated. There is no purpose in keeping them out there as a threat to the general public. -

Baht's Biggest Surge Since 1998 Poses Risk to Tourism And Exports

I do. Things priced in baht were much lower, including my rent (12 percent lower), electricity (10 percent lower), food (30 percent lower). If we're going to get 2019/2020 exchange rates, we need to get those years' prices for housing, utilities, and food as well. -
I grew up in Dallas and lived there some years off and on until I came to Thailand in 2010. Your description, I think, is pretty accurate. It's 45 minutes to "anything" by car. Nobody walks. Few people even spend time in their backyards. Almost nobody does their own yard work, mowing, raking leaves, picking up acorns, or any other landscaping. People in Texas, as a result, have become some of the softest bunch in the US. Growing up, I only got an a/c window unit in our house when I was about 6 or 7--1961 or thereabouts. Didn't notice it was so hot, because you just lived with it. Too, people don't suffer from heat so much if they don't overeat and become overweight. Acclimatization, diet, exercise, and non-sedentary lifestyle makes all the difference.

Hezbollah used cell phones and the Israelis blew up their cell phones. Hezbollah shifted to pagers, and the Israelis blew up all their pagers. Hezbollah then moved to walkie-talkies, so Israel blew up their walkie talkies. As a result, Hezbollah decided on in person meetings. But the Israelis blew that up too. https://edition.cnn.com/world/live-news/lebanon-explosions-hezbollah-israel-09-20-24-intl-hnk/index.html

The more I read of this counterterrorism operation, the more I'm impressed. The Israelis set up the manufacture of pagers in Hungary, which were then sold to the Hezzies. In effect, the Hezzies not only had their lower parts blasted away, they paid Israel for the exploding devices used against them. That sort of efficient production is impressive. Israel may have made a financial profit off the entire incident.
