British Tourist Warned Over Criticism of Thailand Online
Andycoops replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
OMB shades of the KGB, Stasi etc and other oppressive policing organisations. National security is the blanket term used when such fragile government's have no real reason to clamp down on people. A complete joke making the organs of government look even more ridiculous than they already are.- 412 replies

PM Srettha Takes Charge of Rayong Chemical Fire Crisis
Andycoops replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
Absurd waste of a PMs time. As usual it's the inspection and enforcement that is the problem, no doubt inspections are passed along with the usual envelopes. -
Going to Pattaya for the week tilac. Can you?
Andycoops replied to EVENKEEL's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Always, I go 4 times a year to various places, sometimes more if I do a weekend break or 2 in Udon. -
5k is cheap from Pattaya the cost of diesel alone would be 1.5k as I know. I do the drive myself as I live 40km south of Yasothon city. 6k from Swampy would be a good price. Swampy to Yaso is 6-6.5 hours actual driving with all the new road upgrades especially the 207 and 202 which are largely dual carriageway now.

I got mine direct from Mitsubishi in Bangkok and fitted it myself. I contacted them through FB and used messenger to order and confirm payment before shipment. This was about 5 years ago.

Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
Andycoops replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Complete <deleted>. I pay income tax on my pensions because my combined income means they they are over the 12570 GBP allowed tax free. So in fact I pay for UK services I never use and haven't in nearly 16 years but can't have any increase to my 40 years of NI contributions to my state pension. Get the facts right. If your income is over the minimum for tax and your income arises in the UK you will be paying income tax, regardless of where you live. -
Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
Andycoops replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Correct there have been recent articles in the UK press about the state pension being tax free because the threshold for paying tax is being outstripped by the triple lock increases, putting pensioners in the the tax bracket... -

List of docs for extension by marriage
Andycoops replied to Chetzee's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When I apply for my marriage extension I usually go 2 weeks before the current one expires. I am then stamped as under consideration for 30 days, that's 2 weeks after my current extension has expired. I go back to the IO to receive my new extension according to the date stamp to return for it. I then receive my new extension for another year which starts and finishes on the dates of the previous one. -
Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare

When my proof of life form came to me here I had to get signed and with a official stamp. I went to Pattaya beach road police station where there is a officer who is assigned to do this and paid 200 baht plus a tip. He duly completed the relevant section on the form in English and plonked the official Thai police stamp under his signature. Lawyers, doctors etc can also do this if you can find one. DWP send out the proof of life forms at random to your official address you registered with them, there is a time limit for you to respond, no response and your pension payments are stopped. -

The only problem there is when they send out the random proof of life form to your registered address in PH and there is no reply, your pension will be stopped. -

Mass arrests made as US campus protests over Gaza spread
Andycoops replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Protesting in favour of terrorism the same as in the UK. Completely bonkers. Remember 9/11, remember London bridge etc etc. These people are the the lowest form of animals on Earth. Do we see other religious groups raiding villages, raping, beheading, kidnapping, slaughtering and think it all a joke... I think not. -

This is hilarious, the sky is the limit with Thai weddings. Set the limit.

Proper legal marriage in Thailand is recognised by the UK. There is no requirement as I understand it to register it with the UK government. I have registered my legal Thai marriage with my company pension provider because my wife is entitled to 50% of it per month when I die. This is also included in my Thai will along with my UK bank accounts.

Very easy to retire in Thailand as it is anywhere if you meet the requirements...
