  1. Seems that nowadays news outlets just present what is the perceived opinion of their viewership. All to raise numbers, in order to be able to sell more advertising time. Real journalism? It's close to extinction...
  2. Yes, and hopefully the hair on my head will grow back. Just as likely...
  3. That was the airport tax. Nothing special, as it is added to the ticket price around the world. But not many countries charge a "landing fee" like this for an unclear purpose.
  4. South Korea can't have more pollution, and Thai officials have $$-signs in their eyes...
  5. So, why does a Buddhist monk lecture about patriotism and the national flag? Sadly, knowing Thailand's policy of "uniting" the people (China style), I can understand the uproar...
  6. Expect this fee to be raised to 500 or a thousand baht in only a short time...
  7. The Chinese I spoke to acknowledge it, same as for their rude behaviour as tourists abroad. But do they care? Most don't...
  8. I heard, Mercedes and BMW dealerships are expecting more business after June...
  9. Reportedly, the sanctions have a minimal effect on the Russian economy.
  10. So, is he from an 'Arabic' family in Ratchaburi, Burmese, Thai, or what?
  11. Unlikely that this will have any effect. Would be interesting though in regards to a refund in case of entry refusal. Who will refund, the airline that charged the fee as part of the ticket price, Airport Immigration, or who?
  12. No kidding. I'm a careful person, always looking left and right, but was hit by motorbikes twice over the years, just crossing the road! Fortunately, no damage done to me or the rider, except a small scratch on my leg the second time.
  13. I think the difference is, that tourists in Thailand won't get insurance for the 150 or 300 baht they pay.
  14. Strange idea to put tourists in charge of maintaining the public health system. - I'm sure countries like France, Spain, Italy, Greece, etc., would be interested to adopt such a system...
  15. Yes, would be interesting to know. If, for example, most of the costs were because of migrant workers, and they wouldn't have to pay this landing fee, then charging tourists, on the other hand, would mean charging the wrong crowd...
  16. That's on average 134 million baht/year, or less than 4 baht (40 million tourist arrivals) to 7 baht (20 million)... Wonder what they'll do with the extra 143 to 293 baht.
  17. Yes, of course they did it for free... Guess, no receipt was given.
  18. 500?? Are they still alive there?
  19. Checks out if 2023 has 16 months this year...
  20. Thailand seems to have gained solely in regards to diplomatic influence, and military partnerships.
  21. If you ever travel to China, check out the prices at Starbucks! Starbucks in China is really for the nouveau riche, meaning your average Joe can't afford it. (Coffee in general is ridiculously expensive in China.) Compared to that, Starbucks in Thailand is cheap. I guess, they take selfies, then tell folks at home: "Hey, I can afford going to Starbucks!" (Mainland Chinese hardly ever drink coffee, so that might explain it.)
