I Think I Might Have Screwed Up
DrJack54 replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Guessing your plan is to do the application Wednesday at Canadian embassy and obviously seeking any advice at the same time. When you receive new and old passports back the new pp will have a "issued date" At the worst case where your permission of stay has expired prior you can face small overstay fine at airport and return no problem visa exempt and start over with new non O at local immigration office. Good luck -
non O based on marriage visa extension
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From your OP it seems that you have had uninterrupted permission of stay. You don't need a non O ....your extensions have been from that multi non O you obtained some time ago. 8 days won't be enough time (imo) to obtain your 12 month extension. Yes plenty of minivan companies do runs from eg Pattaya to Cambodia. That's a thread in itself and one currently being discussed re Cambodia. Just one person's opinion....I would consider the border bounce prior to Dec 17 with agent. 60 days + 60 extension to visit wife. That gives you 4 months to plan. Obtain the non O from Rayong immigration. Heaps of threads on that. -

You certainly do require the old passport. As you pointed out any valid visa, reentry permit etc remain valid even when old pp cancelled. When stamps are transfered at immigration some information from old pp is noted in new pp. I obtained new pp earlier this year and still needed to travel with both passports as my reentry permit was in old pp and valid. -
non O based on marriage visa extension
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Depends where you are located in Thailand and which border crossing you plan to use. With an entry visa exempt (60 days) you could apply for a 30 day extension+ followed by a 60 day extension to visit wife. However you would then need at some point to obtain new non O. You seem to be mucking around a lot. Is it all down to financials. Note: Earlier I asked about passport to see if your embassy provides "income certificate" for immigration purposes. Seems French embassy making changes from start of 2025. I didn't look into it further. May be nothing -
non O based on marriage visa extension
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Think you are asking if you can border bounce without reentry permit before Dec 17 and reenter visa exempt. Answer: yes Think also asking about obtaining a non O based on marriage at a Thai consulate/embassy in nearby country. Yes that's an option. -
non O based on marriage visa extension

Which country is passport? This thread has some posts listing required documents for 12 month extension based on marriage. https://aseannow.com/topic/1337120-what-are-docs-required-for-non-o-married-extension-please/ -

You are referring to 12 month extension based on marriage. Does your embassy prove "income letter"? -

USA citizens have to and seems Canadians also. Ridiculous. Certainly AU you do NOT send passport with application. -

I renewed my AU pp earlier this year. Despite fact it expires in 2026. Done completely online. Existing passport is NOT sent to Oz embassy Bangkok with application. Granted you have to visit post office. Not need to even visit Embassy. -

Personally I would not take the chance. At very least would be talking to folk at your embassy. Check info on emergency pp. Reading Toronto times seems postal services have been down since Nov 15. So how quickly they return is guess work. Easy for Oz folk (only 9 hr direct flight) to suggest you fly home prior to Jan 7. However that's an option. It's ridiculous that USA and Canadians have to send the physical current pp.. -

That's exactly what I thought and booked TM47 first followed by the 12 month extension retirement. Went to the TM47 desk and she sent me off to obtain the extension first. My appointment was Nov 5 and permit expired Nov 8. -

Needless to say that you're in bad situation. Have you applied for the passport renewal? Meaning already sent your existing pp with application -
Seasoning not required. Seems at this point you haven't looked into much detail of DTV requirements. Here is link https://www.thaievisa.go.th/visa/dtv-visa The other option ongoing is living in Thailand is to obtain a non O marriage and subsequent 12 month extensions. The issue for you with this is international travel. From your current visa exempt entry you can obtain a 30 day extension + a 60 day extension "to visit wife" That gives flexibility to when you apply for the non O at local immigration office. Keep in mind there is a home visit for some offices and under consideration period. Of course you can also obtain the non O at Thai embassies/consulates I mentioned in another thread that a young guy I met obtained his DTV while in UK and obtained it in 3-4 days. Like you all his work is online, however he is employed by UK company. As you are positioned for first category DTV and not "soft power" options, seems good fit for you. DTV cannot be obtained within Thailand.

Online Immigration appointments
DrJack54 replied to Gee Bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One month in advance. I had back to back appointments CW Nov 5. Note: do the permit extension first followed by the TM47 Appointment link https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/onlineservice-and-publicguide/ -
That's why (for others) never allow anyone to staple anything into your pp.. Also it's not permitted.

Any recent changes to the TM30 document?
DrJack54 replied to Fiskebolle's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For my first 12 years I had never made one TM30. Extensions based on retirement dealing with CW. For my most recent extension I had my condo office me a TM30 as seemed required. Never do one after local and international travel. As usual immigration offices vary. -
On Line Scheduling Chaeng Wattana
DrJack54 replied to lykes2fly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, good advice above. Just note the reentry permit desk is just to left side of immigration lines. Zone 2 just after security check.. At BKK you obtain reentry permit prior to passport control and at DMK the permit desk is just after passport control. -

DrJack54 replied to lykes2fly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That won't work. Reentry permit is done at different desks. The extension you are doing is done L desks. Remember to print out your appointment for extension. Assuming you are aware that reentry permit can be obtain at airport on day of departure. At Bangkok airports they offer (not compulsory) a service to fill in TM8, photo etc 200b EDIT: I just tried to make booking for reentry permit on dec 23. No problem , but only two slots 8.30 and 1pm. You must get extension first so 1pm. Best option is airport -
The appointments are in December I just posted ..... "At that time (yesterday) 7 days of appointments available in December" You have 3 threads running on TM47 with you as the OP. You can either... 1. Make an appointment 2. Just attend CW and wait in line 3. Skip the report and at some point be prepared to pay 2000b
