Help on "Retirement Visa"
DrJack54 replied to JamesPhuket10's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That is a pretty good summary. Currently I'm satisfying the money in bank method and simultaneously have been doing monthly transfers and for my next extension asking immigration for switch to income method. The other thing to consider is each particular immigration office interpretation of "income" Some offices happy to just see consistent international monthly transfers. Some want to view some sort of proof of "pension" No wonder some folk use agents -
I have no idea what your wife has to do with it. You killed off the non O-A along with extension from it. You then obtained a NEW Non O based on retirement. You don't need to be married and as a result the wife does not need to show you are still married. I think io was confused with common situation of someone changing from based on marriage to based on retirement. This is common when divorce occurs and for first extension based on retirement they may want to see that you are still married. Otherwise you would have needed to exit Thailand as your extension would be invalid upon divorce. You left Thailand and "Started over" marriage irrelevant

Help on "Retirement Visa"
DrJack54 replied to JamesPhuket10's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's also exactly what I'm doing. Seems the OP needed to ask his question prior to obtaining his current extension and apply your plan. OP, you should also check with your immigration what they will except as "pension , income ..etc -
Help on "Retirement Visa"
DrJack54 replied to JamesPhuket10's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Obtaining a new non O is not required and won't facilitate your plan to change to extension based on retirement. If you travel to UK make sure you get a reentry permit to protect your permission of stay. To change to income method you need to show immigration 12 month of international transfers. You should have been doing that from when you obtained current extension (obtained in Feb 2024) My guess is you have not done that UK does not provide income letter. Thinking you missed the boat. -

Yes that will work. Keep in mind that you don't need to obtain the non O in Laos. You can (from visa exempt or tourist visa entry) obtain non O at your local immigration office. All that is required is 800k in Thai bank account in your name only on day of application. That gives you a 90 day stamp. In the last 30 days apply for 12 month extension using your 12 monthly transfers. Cost: 2000b for non O + 1900b for the 12 month extension.

Is this viable for 6 months stay in Thailand
DrJack54 replied to spambot's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your posts are seriously incorrect. You are suggesting all form of tourist visas and even eg extensions from non O etc are obsolete. Living in Thailand ongoing with continuous visa exempt entries will not work. Ridiculous posts from you -

Is this viable for 6 months stay in Thailand
DrJack54 replied to spambot's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your post is incorrect and reckless. BTW you used the word "indefinite" you meant unlimited as per that word was used when the change was made. Better statement would have been along the lines ...."the limit of 2 visa exempt entries via land borders has been removed. There is no stated limit" That is in line with VE entry via air. Is there refusal via air for ongoing back to back ve yes. Will same thing apply to entries via land yes. -
You did not mention if he has Thai bank account. Regardless best option would be obtain the non O retirement while he is UK That is done online eVisa OR He can visa exempt and obtain non O at his immigration office and subsequent 12 month extension This attached thread outlines the process. https://aseannow.com/topic/1282251-visa-exempt-to-non-o-retirement-dates/
