  1. Do you really need to renew your license. Be aware that expired TDL can be renewed up till one year expired. Yes you are best severed to renew license when you have a Non O status. Don't concern yourself with the link you posted. Visa exempt (visa waiver) entry is not listed. Here is (non gov) site brief explanation of "Visa Exempt" program. https://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand-visa/thai-visa-exemption-and-bilateral-agreement# If you look back at my posts ...I suggested visa exempt for this upcoming visit and then Non O e-Visa for trip in the future when you can spend more time in Thailand for the process. FWIW: Here is thread that outlines process from visa exempt entry to Non O marriage and subsequent 12 month extension. https://aseannow.com/topic/1315828-visa-exempt-to-90-day-non-o-spouse-visa-conversion-in-thailand/
  2. Somewhat unrelated.... As from May 1 to travel to Thailand you require a TDAC which is simple version of the old TM6. Current thread running. https://aseannow.com/topic/1356064-thailand-digital-arrival-card-tdac-system-is-online-but-not-announced-as-starting-yet/
  3. You do not apply for visa exempt entry. As the name implies. It's visa waiver. You are allowed to enter without a visa and (currently) that provides a 60 day stamp. From that entry you can obtain a Non O marriage at local immigration office then subsequent 12 month extension. However you do not have the time in Thailand to enable that. Suggest you defer the annual extension plan till such a time you can commit to being in Thailand for entire process. For the upcoming visit suggest you use visa exempt entry. Then when you have plans for extended stay (3 month minimum) move to annual extensions. At that time you can obtain the Non O e-Visa in Canada then when in Thailand apply for 12 month extension as outlined earlier
  4. Yes you will need a Non O to be able to renew licences for 5 years.. With a visa exempt or tourist visa stamp they will only be renewed for 2 years.. Just to be clear.... currently visa exempt entry is 60 days same as tourist visa. You would not obtain tourist visa. Flying to Thailand visa exempt the airline may/will want to see onward flight. Seems you will have that. The 20k baht or equipment is good advice however will not (almost certainly) be asked for by immigration when you arrive. No insurance is required.
  5. No. First up you mean visa exempt entry then apply for Non O in Thailand. Cannot jump to 12 month extension. It's a two step process 1. Obtain a Non O (in Thailand or outside of Thailand) 2. Obtain a 12 month extension. Your return to Canada early seems to make obtaining the extension impossible. If you are planning a longer stay in Thailand later on then the first trip can just be done with visa exempt entry (currently 60 days) + 60 day extension to visit wife or standard 30 day extension. Subsequently you could obtain the non O plus extension on another trip to Thailand. Note: when you eventually obtain the extension you can exit and reenter Thailand a time if you obtain a reentry permit. That permit protects your permission of stay period. Can be single or multiple entry. 1000b and 3800b respectfully
  6. The window to apply for extension is 30 days prior to expiry of your permission of stay stamp up till day of expiry. Note some offices allow up to 45 days eg CW,CM, PHUKET etc. However after application there is an under consideration period (typically one month) to receive final stamp. You would need to check if travel plans fit these constraints.
  7. Great. Be aware that even though your funds (400k) has been seasoned for longer than 2 months......you still apply for the 12 month extension up to last 30 days (45 in few offices) prior to expiry. Which immigration office?
  8. Easy read guide here for those interested in COR. https://www.thethailandlife.com/residence-certificate-thailand Validity of COR from immigration typically has validity of a month however can depend on the transport office. Can be up to 3 months (not common) Note you require a separate COR for each use. The exception is that if obtaining a bike and car license at same time (or renewal) then one COR and photocopy will suffice.
  9. Yes. Note they stop for lunch break 12-1pm.
  10. You will obtain the single entry Non O marriage in Ottawa. When you enter Thailand you will receive a Stamp giving permission of stay of 90 days. Transfer 400k into Thai bank account. In the last 30 days after funds have been in bank for 2 months you apply for a 12 month extension of your permission of stay. Do you have a Thai bank account in your name only? Just for clarity ...you are NOT obtaining a one year Non O, rather you are obtaining a 12 month permission of stay. Referred to as annual extension.
  11. A first hand report rather than random pic would be more helpful.
  12. Simple question answered and current thread running on this topic. Thread closed.
  13. So you're referring to DTV , Workcation category? I would hardly call what you outlined as working as "digital nomad"
  14. 60 days. Extension available 30 days
  15. Indeed he mentioned Wed Thurs. There are slots on Thurs Fri. Currently this. Appointment link https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/onlineservice-and-publicguide/
  16. It's not visa on arrival (that's a different thing) It's a visa exempt entry and currently provides a 60 day stamp. Also a visa outside of Thailand is obtained via e-Visa and that can take few days. Is it the financial requirements that causing the issue for extension from Non O . Just seems your plan rather convoluted. Be aware that if you do exit and reenter you (currently) will receive a 60 day stamp. You can also extend that at immigration by 60 days "to visit wife" 1900b
  17. Why do you want a tourist visa when currently visa exempt is 60 days. What's the thinking behind obtaining a new Non O marriage? Why not just obtain extension+ reentry permit.
  18. Tip. Generally agents use apps such as Line etc for type communication. Good option is call them direct. Here is another suggestion https://thaivisaexpert.com/retirement-visa/ Thai Visa Centre - Visa Agent https://g.co/kgs/zEzHcjY
  19. Why would you wish to receive direct deposits into Thai bank account. Seems you would be opting for first category Workcation (Digital nomad/remote worker/foreign talent/freelancer) Suggest you keep the DTV and any tax obligations separate. Extensive thread on this . Pinned above.
  20. OK...That plan will work and you will be stamped in for 90 days when you enter Thailand prior to April 22. That can also be extended by 60 days to visit wife. You will require a reentry permit for trips abroad after Visa expires (April 22). Ongoing consider annual extensions. You do realize that the 400k can be used after final stamp for annual extension.
  21. OP, I have asked this question earlier. You need to clarify for best advice.
