Sorta guessed as much. In any event...the OP has been given simple instructions to proceed Namely go to immigration office when suits to do visa info and stamp transfer. Just general information for any Oz folk wishing to renew pp while in Thailand the online/mail process works a treat. You don't even send your current pp with application. 20 day turn around for me in 2024.
-
The OP did not indicate applying for a concurrent passport. Seems was simple renewal of existing pp while in Germany. Was your Oz concurrent pp for business purposes?
-
He means if he had not renewed his pp then for his extension due Aug 25 the extension would only be granted till expiry of existing pp. Feb 2026. Nothing to do with "6 month rule" In any event a confused thread. Already advised to attend his immigration office and have visa info and any Stamps transferred. FWIW: Doesn't make any sense the old pp is still valid or not. Red herring. Immigration may transfer entry stamp from old pp. All in all irrelevant.

Here is basic list. Check out #8 https://www.immigration.go.th/?p=14714 Suggest apply for extension in the last 30 days of current permission of stay stamp. In CM you can apply up to 45 days early. Here is list specific to Phitsanulok. Should be similar. https://www.diald.nu.ac.th/download/International Service/Overseas Student/02 Visa Extension/Non–Immigrant Visa “ED”_Checklist.pdf

Visa Exempt, third friendship bridge
DrJack54 replied to Eibot's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, short recent thread here..... https://aseannow.com/topic/1353200-nong-khai-visa-run/ In the thread @Tod Daniels gives good overview. Not sure of any agents in Udon Thani that do border bounces to NK. Plan re money/clothes a possible 1-2 night stay. Edit: changed thread title.. -
arriving to thailand on the weekend

For 90 day reporting the rules are consistent. As always couple of immigration offices may play by own rule book. Here TM47 guidelines are explained. https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=1648 -
When is the 60 day visa-free entry changing?
DrJack54 replied to kwilco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You asked...... "Does anyone have a date for when 60 day visa free entry will be reduced to 30 days?" Answer: No. No date (if any) has been announced. You also stated .... "one of the great things about the 60 day was more than 60 day - it was the unlimited re-entries " Suggest you read all current threads regarding concerns about being refused entry without visa or reentry permit. Especially back to back. Obviously of more concern if entry via air. Also border bounces via land have become problematic without agent. -

Have you not read any of the many threads where back to back visa exempt entry, particularly via air is not a good plan. Consider a METV if long stay in Asia is the aim and enables visiting other countries. -

No information as to when/if it will change to 30. Also no updates re specific countries regarding particular changes to visa exempt. SETV is also an option -
Bit rich. By your figures provided seems in last 12 months 65% of year was spent in Thailand. You opted to use visa exempt entries and are surprised that the immigration officer was not happy. You should have opted for Non O extensions married or retirement + reentry permit. Surprised you are surprised with current situation.

Opening a bank account
DrJack54 replied to Aussie999's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Generally requires a Non imm visa. You state "might convert to Non O" If that's a yes and he does not have a Thai bank account then he should have obtained the Non O prior to entering Thailand. If he does not intend to obtain a Non O then why would he need a bank account. Where is he located. An agent can assist with bank account however most will require that you use the agent for Non O + 12 month extension. Needs to decide what he actually wants -
British Fugitive Arrested in Phuket After Violent Brawl in Bangkok

Should not have done a TM30 -
In your opinion. Many "sources" of information have incorrect or out of date info. Personally find the AI info good. In any event it's irrelevant if the OP has two valid pp or not. He needs at some point to transfer visa information, reentry permit etc into new passport. As a contrast to the OP account, last year I renewed my Australian pp in Bangkok. The "old pp" still had two years validity. For Oz pp renewal you can do it online + mail. You do not send your existing pp with application. When you receive new pp (in mail) you still have old pp. No cut corners no invalid stamp etc. Is it still Valid? Absolutely NOT.. Any visas, reentry permits etc remain valid. OP, remember to also update new pp # etc with your bank..

Certificate of Residence Validity
DrJack54 replied to pj123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct: here is cut paste from expert Thai visa days..... "As the seller you should only need the vehicles log book and your passport. You only need a certificate of residence if your the buyer as a foreigner unless you have a Yellow Tabien Baan. The Thai buyer only needs his Tabien Baan and ID card." -
No need for funds from outside of Thailand for Non O marriage. The bigger issue is that the OP posted this earlier.,. "I'm retired and she is due to retire this year. We both will have, ( I already have ) but our income is not up there where I can qualify for the appropriate marriage visa" No offense towards the OP, however this is a very low financial requirement. Square peg in round hold comes to mind. Soon both retired and cannot cover 400k in Thai bank for max 3 months for annual extension. That seems poor outlook.
