Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Ridiculous rant with too much Misinformation to correct. -
Not of much comfort but my thinking of UK eVisa process includes all types of visas to Thailand. By contrast I applied for SETV to Vietnam recently (being Oz require visa) ... absolute walk in the park. Few minutes to file application and approved in 5 business days. Not much comfort to you but the eVisa system to countries such as UK has been introduced poorly at best

Here is an oldish thread where the OP gives very detailed advice. There is also couple of posts re a YouTube link for video instructions. Cannot find it right now. Will look tomorrow.

Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You haven't mentioned how often you visit Thailand. BTW: if you sell up your assets in Oz better option than banks etc is to place those funds into your super fund. You can make your own contributions up to $100k aud per calendar year and can consolidate that into 300k in one year then nothing for following 2 years. You also did not mention if wife has any land. You can build modest house for 1 million baht.. That would be option rather than lock all funds into Super. -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Perhaps the OP can sell ALL his Condos and his BIG Pool villa. Buy some land (in wife name) along with some solar panels and hens. -
Question about re-entry permits.
DrJack54 replied to bob smith's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Can stay out as long as you want. Reentry permit has expiry same date as current permission of stay. You do not need to give return date. You state the following... "I want to keep my Thai visa alive if possible" What visa? You most likely have a 12 month extension based on marriage -
Multi-reentry permit on Non-Ed
DrJack54 replied to Hal65's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Nothing much required for reentry permit. Single 1000b Multiple 3800b . Unlimited exit/reenter. Only difference is cost and box you tick on the TM8. Can only be obtained inside Thailand. Your issue will be immigration Even when genuine ED students ask about a trip out of Thailand it's recommended to obtain "letter from school" With many trips in/out Thailand Your plan won't work. -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Clearly you do not have wife and 11 year old child. Guessing don't drink alcohol and never travel, as 40k might cut it for single guy eating 40b soup it won't cut it for family of 3 -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I didn't write the OP. ONE thing stands out.... "We have NEVER lived together" -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Seriously? The wife and daughter are Thai. And no way would want to live in Laos. Also the OP has much cheaper option to live in Thailand being married to Thai national. Annual Extension 1900 baht with easy financials. -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is no insurance requirement for non O extensions based on marriage or retirement. The only insurance requirement is for extension based on retirement from a non O-A -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
From one of my previous posts.. "At best you could live ongoing on extensions based on marriage which requires 400k in bank for only 2 months" So I have posted easy option. If you cannot read into the OP his main concern is not family. Again read from OP "WE HAVE NEVER LIVED TOGETHER" ???? -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have an opinion. You are entitled to yours.. Again from OP words.... "We've never lived together but we get on well when I've stayed for a few months.".... Part time husband father. "We have never lived together" "When I have stayed few months" Thread is a wind up surely -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Read this 3 times from the OP.. "I'm 72. Australian. I have a luuk kreung daughter who is 11 years old and a Thai wife. We've never lived together but we get on well when I've stayed for a few months." That's not remotely a husband and father. Laughable thread.- 144 replies

90 Days by Post. EMS both ways?
DrJack54 replied to Cuchulainn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When you do autofill you can scroll down to "date of entry" and change the date. Unfortunately I did that after trip to Oz and online not approved. Subsequently did report in person CW. Thought my next online would be cherry ripe. Again remained "pending" Again did it in person. Balls up. -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I find these type of posts poor advice. The OP via his own statement has not even lived with "wife and daughter" Typical farang statement to imply improving daughter life by moving to Oz. Clearly not a wealthy guy and being Oz I'm aware of cost living there. The OP pension is 40k baht. -
Change passport while 1 year extension valid
DrJack54 replied to jphasia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good plan. I once travelled for best part of a year and did the transfer on same visit as my 12 month extension. At CW it's done at same L desk. One reason for this was that CW would not transfer my reentry permit as it was issued at DMK airport and reentry desk at CW refused transfer....."Do at airport" At that time I was flying to Saigon every month. No issue. -
90 Days by Post. EMS both ways?
DrJack54 replied to Cuchulainn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would just do the return self addressed envelope with basic stamp. On the current immigration website (link earlier) it does not indicate EMS required on return. You could include 38b stamps to cover that requirement. BTW: I use two B4 envelopes has previously worked a treat. Just for others here is address for CW. -
Have I Missed the Boat ?
DrJack54 replied to lolex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Are you joking. You state "never lived together" Get on well "when I have stayed for few months. Don't kid yourself that you are a parent or what many would consider a husband/partner. To top it off you are elderly and some would class as poor with a 40k monthly income. The train has left the station. At best you could live ongoing on extensions based on marriage which requires 400k in bank for only 2 months.- 144 replies

Change passport while 1 year extension valid
DrJack54 replied to jphasia's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Great. So what's your question. When should you transfer info for old to new pp? Answer: Anytime prior to applying for next extension. Could even do it same visit. OR ... You travel internationally with both passports and go to immigration when it suits. -
90 Days by Post. EMS both ways?
DrJack54 replied to Cuchulainn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The thread is CW specific and yes recently there have been issues for some folk even when using magnifying glass for autofill for CW. One recently chap did online 14 days early at CW. Still pending into grace period. Attended in person only to receive "approved" status on his cell the day he arrived at CW. -
90 Days by Post. EMS both ways?
DrJack54 replied to Cuchulainn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is nothing stopping you from doing the online report 15 days early along with mail option. If the online is approved that does not cause issue for your mail in report. At CW Mail in is processed after your due date. If online approved then your return mail will just start "already accepted" -
90 Days by Post. EMS both ways?
DrJack54 replied to Cuchulainn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Until it doesn't work. Several posts of issues at CW online recently. My most recent 2 online reports to CW have remained "pending" into grace period despite being filed 14 days prior to due date. Resulting in trips to CW for in person report. This is despite previous online reports being successful. -
Landlord has code to open door
DrJack54 replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Ridiculous. You are a tenant. The reason for the coded lock is for owner to be able to change code after you leave. Silly thread.
